DPS Warriors a problem?

Im level 22 with my Warrior right now and although i do enjoy playing him i feel 2H is so slow for me, and ive tanked a bit with my sword and shield and feel its not for me. Usually in other MMO’s ive been the glass cannon. Cant take a hit but do insane burst dps. So im thinking maybe im gonna re-roll a Rogue, i also play Solo so that makes Rogue a better choice as well.

But its just one more thing that would convince me to re-roll, if i were to focus more on DPS with my Warrior endgame, is that even viable? I feel with the abilities the Warrior have, although you can do DPS it will generate tons of threat making huge issues for the tank if you have a DPS Warrior in the group right?

Just picturing popping off whirlwind and suddenly you get aggro from a group of elites. Cant be good … :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah… Warriors are the too dps class specd fury endgame bruh…

If you like to tank a bit and also like to dps a bit but are not looking for Ooo look mum im top of the dps meter :stuck_out_tongue: then try druid.
Fun class with good dps/heals/and off tanking and very over looked class.

Two handed can feel slow because you only do one hit every 3 sec or whatver and often that’s just an autoattack. But you can do good damage.
Have you got Bloodrage? You can get it at 22. Use it all the time. Generates 20 rage and makes you feel more powerful certainly for a bit of burst damage.
Make sure to keep attack power Shout on all the time as it goes away after 2 mins.
I’m level 24 and doing 300+ crits, can take down half a mobs health in one hit. Love it. Yes it feels a bit slow and steady. But if you have a good weapon you can be powerful.
You can try dual wield remember. I think that’s available at either 22 or 24? Maybe 20 even.

Fury DPS isn’t a problem, it’s quite strong.

What is a problem though, is that warrior is the most popular class on average and yet there’s always a tank shortage because they all want to DPS.

Well; that’s not a problem for me at least. It means people will practically suck my toes to have me tank for them.

Wait till you get level 40 and mortal strike. THen you charge , mortal strike, whirlwind and also get some autohits between.

It gets much quickler paced after 40. Fury is also a quicker hitting spec but warrior is kinda sad in the beginning.

you have to be able to manage your rage and not insta use it. You also have to use most of your abilities to managa to do a lot of dmg, rn im 39/40 and im top 1 dps in arms dealer on dungeons so…

You have to know when using whirlwing or not, you got slam, you got overpower when its pop up insta huge crit, or even the amazing sweeping strike.

Warrior is not like a mage or something, you gotta dance with the pace of the combat and its very rewarding. Don’t wait just for your auto attack, this is a commonly false idea (tho an auto is still very important of course).

Even in leveling a war has to move a lot and playin with harmstring to maximize his lvling.

As for endgame pve… I guess that if you wanna dps, fury is the most profitable.
I will be tank myself for pve when the times comes for big raids so I cant help you there.

warriors are top dps and tanks in classic

Warriors are bad DPSers during leveling, unless you’re somehow in full blues (which is not going to happen before your mid 40s).

The end-game PvE DPS spec is Fury with two one-handers. Arms doesn’t have nearly enough DPS talents to make it even close to being viable. Still, it is the best spec for leveling because it offers a good balance of damage and utility.

Your rotation as Fury is basically keeping Bloodthirst and Whirlwind on cooldown, and until you reach pre-raid best-in-slot gear you will not have enough rage to do this, let alone dump excess rage into Heroic Strike. Your actual damage potential will be unleashed only after you get enough gear to keep Flurry up all the time and have enough rage to keep both BT and Whirlwind on cooldown and to dump rage into Heroic Strike.

You can even beat that potential by rolling human for Alliance or orc for Horde, benefiting from those +5 weapon skill racials. Yes, they are important enough to make those two races the best choices for Fury. In case you’ve rolled a tauren/troll/undead for Horde or dwarf/night elf for Alliance, I would recommend getting used to the idea of tanking at 60lvl.

And please don’t use Whirlwind in dungeons. AoE threat in vanilla basically doesn’t exist, so you will pull aggro.

Another false accusation. There is moments when you clrearly can use it. Tho I wouldnt recommend if the tank doesnt know how aggro and tabbing works.

Ally side. 2H for the horde

Only in P1, only with BRE.

Yes, after 10-15 seconds you can. If you want to see some numbers as soon as possible, though, you’ll just end up seeing a grey screen.

Orc with BRE? Cool story bro

Do you have any suggestions of a P1 2H axe that would beat BRE?

I mean, you can still tank while being specced for DPS, so it is quite versatile, at least while leveling. And because you’re in demand you’ve got a more secure place and can ask for extra loot.
Once I’m 60, I would rather be concerned with PVP so can’t tank raids unless specced unfortunately… I love tanking raids, shame there is no dual spec, I’d kill to be able to do both PvP and PvE…

… Our experience seems to differ a lot.

Tanks are always amazingly good with my dps that they usually even let me need tanky things if they don’t really need it. I prefer the word of the tank im dunging with more than a post on the forum.

I’ve no idea what you’re talking about at this point, but I don’t think it’s the same thing.

Minor correction: you get it at level 10. My warrior alt got it yesterday

Considering all the misses you gonna get with it, spinal reaper for sure. And after that there are plenty of axes. DTC, insanity, you name it.
