Dragonflight Warlock Class Talent Tree Feedback

Yeah for sure, Seed is playable on retail in it’s current form, but I definitely found playing to MR strengths to have better results (I’m only talking up to 22 for me personally, I haven’t pushed higher).

I think what people will see in DF is that we move further away from seed spam and double down on MR, and it’s feeling good. I logged a few dungeons and one with another afflock spamming seed and the difference was night and day.

Huge caveat that gear will make a difference in that log and skill also, but it’s a rough wet finger in the air look at how things are going.

Edit: I confess that I also used AOE Darkglare which is bugged and pulled half of Dragonisles with last boss xD

The first thing I see is that warlock was 275. You were 299

Yup, big difference in gear, like I said. Can’t wait to get max level in Beta and get some real tests going.

Darkglare’s cranking haha. It has the same bug as the tyrant did in BFA beta, it pulls the entire zone and tries to blast it all down

Yeah not gonna lie, I’ve had a proper giggle brining friendos to bosses and large trash pulls lol.

All experimental builds currently. I now have enough talent points for two capstone talents, looking at AOE haunt and Doom Blossom next. Big dot dmg!

I didn’t see it before, but today I read Blizzard’s reasoning for there being no Dark Soul. I’m actually ok with it if our damage is consistently good outside of a 2 min burst window, especially for Aff. We still need more powerful capstones in the class tree though, hopefully talents that do exactly that.

That’s it… only one change to our talents? What is wrong with blizzard?

They never addressed that the community wahres the spell lock back in the tree as a choice, they did not respond to our question for better capstone talents…

Blizzard failed again.

It’s been nothing but solid downhill since WoD for this class design wise.

Latest blue post confirmed that there will be no more big changes but mostly number tuning. So Nether Portal will continue to be skit for another 2+ years again.

I still don’t get it why all other classes got several changes and warlock only got one.

It’s because there is no dev that plays seriously warlock and Blizzard, the multi billion dollar company for some extremely unexplainable reason has only 2 people balancing 40 specializations.

The only reason to get me back into retail was proper gameplay design for warlocks, I’m sick and tired of waiting for them to fix the absolute mess of a state they left this class in Legion and I really do not know how they do it but while Legion created this mess, it just keeps getting worse and worse every expansion, Shadowlands Demonology for me was an all time low, seeing how it goes I’ll just stick to classic wotlk where this class feels 10x more satisfying to play with.

It is still an upgrade from SL to DF. But i still think the Spell lock should be an option.

So I’m not allowed to post on the beta forum, even while i got invited to beta.

I think the nerf to soul link was way to much, being back the 20% dmg reduction. Also remove Teachings of the Black Harvest and five us Dark Regeneration back.

How did you finally was able to post at Beta forum?
I have same problem.

Hey everybody, Blizzard, i have a few ideas which i want to share with you about Demonology for Dragonflight expansion. The overall talent tree seems to go right direction but it doesnt bring answer to some of many shared complains.

1. Idea:
Grimoire of Felguard change to: Grimoire of Doomguard
To have a similar function as Felgurad it could be a melee version with one bigger flaming sword from Warcraft 3 or dual wielding as a doomguard who sometimes pops up from Demon hunters Fodder to the Flame spell.

When summoned he can stun the target and use leap instead of pursuit to look more powerful.

As AOE instead of felstorm he can cast rain of fire (or Leap could do enough aoe damage instead)

He may count more towards Tyrant’s damage (Reign of Tyranny) than normal greater demons.

Idea behind this: To have a two Felguard at one point always felt a little bit weird and in BFA/SL/Dragonflight we lost Doomguard which we had even as a permanent pet in the past expansion. Yes we have Ritual of Doom but it is weak and not really usable and i don’t think Blizzard wants to change it in the future due to balance reasons.

2. Idea:
Fel Armaments adjust to: Is now a node option

Fel Armaments (or Grimoire of Supremacy which may be more fitting): Doing the same thing as now but also upgrading Felguard to a “lesser” Fel Lord + matching his health with Warlock ones.

He should also count as more power to Tyrant (Reign of Tyranny) dmg as it is an even greater demon. But it may cost 2 shards to summon him.

Second option: You can now permanently command a second pet with X% decreased damage but with all his/her spells. (you cannot have a two same pets at the same time)

3. Idea:
Is connected to second one:

Guillotine (Hold this for me sounds better:D): If you choose Fel Armaments then it is the same.

Second pet: Your secondary main pet deals now normal 100% damage.

Overall conclusion: This will solve the requested need from demonology to have for example a pve silence from Felhunter.

This way we will have wider variety of different and powerful demons which is also highly requested for some time. = more hype and better feel that our spec learned some new shiny tricks.

Also the Secondary pet option may have a bigger single target potential where the Fel Armaments with its Guillotine excel more in AOE scenarios.

One more point which i cannot shake from my head:

I really think that Demonology should not lose a 20% Soulink as it is tied with this spec from the beginning. We should have it in the Demonology tree to increase this by an additional 10% to match the overall 20%. Replacing for example Hounds of war which is too much of RNG anyway for that potential high impact…

There are more things as is issue with Nether portal which is mentioned over and over by others or Doom which should be also adjusted, probably also some talents in general tree but i don’t want to bore you any longer.
Have a best one! =)

Here’s something I don’t understand. First Blizzard said:

“Along with these changes you’ll see both new spells and some old friends returning. Soul Rot and Decimating Bolt will be coming with us from the Shadowlands, Dimensional Rift returns from Legion, and many more.”

And then decided to get rid of DB? One of the best (grafically) abilities we have. I would like to know what was the reason behind it.

Also I hear that the Chaos Bolt will be, yet again, nerfed, because gods forbid worlocks have a powerful spell…

All you do since WoD, in my opinon, with my favorite calss is lowering our abilities. I still remember that there were times when warlocks had real problems with getting into groups due to our lower damage. Are you going to cause this again, Blizzard?

Destruction warlocks have “destruction” in their job description. Please let us shine!

And Spell lock for removed from the tree… our capstone talents are the weakest of all classes.

I am a simple man,all i want is:
-Incinerate castable while moving(it does no dmg, filler)
-Grimoire of sacrifice ( actually to have a choice to play petless)
-Chaos Bolt (you know, the not spamable one)

Un-nerf shadowburn, it deals 50% less dmg than on live and on live people(including myself) don’t ever bother with that ability. This will be dead talent. I can see there is corresponding node that buff this spell, but it’s a buff you’d have to maintain for 25% dmg amp, which is still net loss to base ability dmg.

TL:DR - buff it up to what it used to be before destro got all the nerfs to every ability or talent is dead.

Destro is looking incredibly weak compared to other specs right now, I feel this will be entire tier of this spec not being used in any content. It’s sad and little funny. Every ability was nerfed by 20-50%, biggest nerfs out of all the classes in the beta and nothing to compensate - which is the ridiculous part and this was so long ago.

Don’t know much about PvE but as for PvP; Destro is definitely looking very weak. Its instant casts are not going to kill someone (Conflag + SB) and with the nerf to Backdraft; any purger team will enjoy seeing you cast 3 seconds long CBs.

Think I am gonna stick with Demo again for PvP.
