Dragonflying Disconnections - Unplayable

So this has been present since day one of the expansion but it was occasional - maybe once an hour disconnects only while using the Dragonflying mounts so I just dealt with it.

Since 10.0.5 patch though it has become so extreme that as soon as I lift off on the mount it will disconnect me to the log-in screen with an error code: WOW51900319

It’s unplayable in this state. I have tried disabling all addons and messing with different graphic settings to see if it get’s better but no luck.

Anyone else get this problem? If it continues to be this bad I’ll probably just call it quits on Dragonflight.

This is quite likely to be the result of some underlying instability in the connection between PC and server. More specifically: disconnections that especially occur on particularly fast methods of travel (the dragonriding mounts very much qualify for that description) often are an early warning sign for data packet losses along the route.

A WinMTR test may shed some light here, or alternatively using a different connection route/method (e.g., via a VPN, or a mobile hotspot) would be worth a try - if the issue disappears while another route is used, that’d be a very good reason to have a chat with thew ISP that manages the “usual” connection route.

I have just disconnected for the 3rd time today, with the same circumstances that you described. I also experienced that only since patch 10.0.5.

I too am being impacted by issues with disconnections while dragonriding…

In my case the disconnects always happen just as I attempt to take off (and so not travelling fast at all) and only ever in the Ohn’ahren plains. The issue seemed to go away a couple of weeks ago only to reccur with the release of 10.0.5 albeit, for me it’s no where near as common as it was in the recent past.

EDIT: And what on earth has happened to my Avatar?

VPN and Hotspot did not work. Problem still persists.

I got the same issue. Problem occur mostly when dragonriding and in high speeds, disconnected and this message(WOW51900319). Its a new issue like you all say.
Blizzard, do something already.

I am sorry Blizzard, but this is part of a much wider problem. Currently my character is swimming through the world, unable to mount… or in fact dismount from my dragon. There is no indication of latency, and the world just appears empty. This has only been happening since the release of the patch. You need to own the problem so that you can sort it out. I have indeed followed all your guidelines, to ensure that from my side I am playing with a stock standard Blizzard released client, without addons or any processes that might impact your core process. But the problem persists. It is also an intermittent issue, where I can play for an hour, and then suddenly it will manifest when moving short distances across the map via dragon flying. Following the posts on the forum I can tell that there are a number of issues that have been caused, and are not being resolved as would be expected.

I tried to send a ticket but got an automatic response which wasn’t any help at all. I don’t think blizzard has a clue to be honest and probably don’t care either.

I disconnected 7 times while flying from Valdrakken to Azure Span, that’s how bad it is.

The blue post litterally answered your question.

Disconnecting while at high speeds is a early warning side of packet loss. A issue Blizzard cant fix, as thats to do with its connection to you.

Theres hundreds of rotars between you and the server.

If one server dies, they have to reroute u another direction. Which will clump 2 locations into the same route.

This will cause problems, thats just how the internet work… packet loss would cause a DC at high Speeds.

I did a win MTR today - results of which are below. While I do see a little bit of packet loss between my PC and router - there is signifcantly more (10%) packet loss on hops 7 and 9 , both of which unless I am misunderstading the route appear to be within Blizzard’s network

I tried tests on wi-fi and via mobile provider and got similar results.

I ran a few more tests a few hours apart and the issues on hops 7/9 and seems to come and go with 0% packet loss on some tests and 5-10% on others which seems consistent with the intermittant nature of the DCs I experience.

@Veadsarias the in game bug reporting doesn’t appear to like the output from winMTR - can you please advise on the best way to report packet loss issues of this type to Blizzard’s networking folks?

It literally doesn’t, as I have used a VPN, a hotspot and different ISP, as was suggested by the blue post, which did not help either.

It’s not even at high speeds when it happens. As my post said, it happens when taking off as well and you cant tell me that’s at a “high speed”.

Weird, mine only happens if i collide with mountain sides at full speed.

There must be a reason. We are all suffering disconnects from different actions though. If it was the actual engine we would all see crashing from the same actions.

Never crashed taking off however.

Curious if its the UI errors. Ive noticed this new UIs implementation has carried seversl problems were its generated Lua errors.

I’m not exactly a tech expert so if anyone knows what’s going on here by all means let usknow!

Packet loss is at their end imho.

There’s about 5% packet loss within your ISP’ (Sky’s) network and about 11% packet loss where your ISP connects to Blizzard - you may want to have a word with your ISP about this as anything above 2.5% is considered to be a fault by Network Engineers and both are likely to fall within their control.

There’s also noticeable (almost 60%) packet loss on a hop within Blizz’s network (60%), given it’s a relatively short test it’s hard to say if that’s an artifact of the issues on the ISP’s side or additional packet loss on Blizz’s side.

I don’t understand all this packet loss thing honestly. If so, then shouldn’t it also affect the following too:

  1. High speed dragon racing - No disconnects whatsoever (done so many with achies)
  2. Nokud Offensive instance - Never had a disconnect

It only happens in open world dragon riding randomly and too frequently since patch 10.0.5. All my addons were disabled to double check this.

Also, wouldn’t a raid encounter easily send between my pc and the servers a substantial amount of data (alot more than dragonriding) for example damage meter info from 20 other players, player cords, player actions etc… how can a simple high speed mount cause a disconnect with much less data sent from my pc to servers etc…

Please look closely into this as most of what we do in DF is dragon riding all over.

Also using Click To Move option when flying makes instant disconnection.

Blizzard doesn’t think about people with disabilities. Unable to play this game after update 10.0.5. the constant disconnects on the dragon bring a huge amount of frustration, especially if some one only have one hand

I asking everyone who get disconnections on dragon riding. Just try to enable Click To Move option in Controls section. If you will get DC in 30 seconds of flying by mouse (right click on air or mountains ) – it’s definitely not internet connection issue. And Blizzard need fix the game asap
