Dragonflying is better than regular flying, but -

It’s still inferior to GW2 mounts.

Because Dragonflying shares a common trait with oldschool flying: you still get to skip everything and zap from Point A to Point B.

The point of GW2 mounts wasn’t just to give mounts abilities to make “them” more dynamic and interactive.
The real purpose was to make “you” interact with the maps more, by making you think about your environment as you journey through it. This is completely lost with Dragonflying.

A huge missed opportunity in my opinion.

Revendreth would have been a perfect map for GW2 mounts. Jumping over canyons with the raptor, climbing the walls with the Springer, then gliding at a fast pace with the griffon once you get up there.
This could have been so much fun.

checked video of gw2 mounts. They look like crap, bouncy crap.

Also i prefer regular flying over dragonriding anytime.

This is not GW2, this is wow.

Your topic is over a decade too late.

You really do make threads because you like the attention, do you? I truly believe you play the game solely to come up with stuff to post here, no matter what.

It would be a decade too late if Dragonflying was introduced a decade ago.

Nah your topic is just a rant about how wow flying is just that, a means of transportation, as opposed to another mmo where it’s not.

Compared to old flying Dragonflying is refreshing and (more) fun. You made it into a whine.

/thread.

I agree. It’s better than old flying.

But it only made using the mount itself more fun, as opposed to making the act of traveling across the map more fun.

I made it into a nuanced opinion, with both praise and criticism.

*In your opinion

The world’s supplies of ink would be depleted if one were required to type “in my opinion” anytime that an opinion is formulated.

It’s also a completely useless reply on your part, because the sentence “in my opinion” is already integrated in my original post.

^^ Me too

I am happy for people to have the zoomies on their Dragon Riding Mounts, I just want to not have to feel like throwing up or having to take multiple breaks just to get around.

If we got slow flap flying now it wouldn’t hinder anyone else. We’d be at a nice slow disadvantage and I’d love it.

I am probably one of the few people that absolutely loves and adores going back to previous expansions and getting to fly normally. I don’t care that it’s slow. It doesn’t give me motion sickness.

Giving people the option to pick between the two sounds like an easy fix.
It’s odd how slow they’ve been to implement it. But I guess they really want to “force this new habit” on players before giving them that choice.

All it does is make me use flightpaths, I do wish that transport network wasn’t so useless. I would use that more but it rarely links up anywhere good.

The whole open world is just a mess in this game.
Any shred of immersion has been destroyed.

Boats and zeppelins are dead, we now have a portal room.
The “RPG” part no longer matters, we jump from one instanced area to the next. And once the loading screen is over, we jump high into the skies and skip the entire map as fast as possible to reach our destination.

I’m not sure what’s even the point of creating new maps if everything is going to be wasted, like Suramar and Gilneas.

Ironically one of the things I’m really looking forward to when I get my regular flying mounts is properly exploring the Dragon Isles.

I think a good middle ground if we’re going to have flying in this game is to greatly lower the maximum “hover range” of mounts, so that they can only fly a dozen feet above the ground.

This still lets you skip over monsters and environmental hazards, but since you’ll be closer to the ground, you’ll also be able to see and experience the map as it was intended.

The world would also feel more alive because, since everyone would be flying closer to the ground, you would see more people in the open world - they wouldn’t be lost in the clouds anymore.

This would have the side effect of reviving world PvP a bit, too.

Yeah… No. WoW Dragonflying is notably more stiff than GW2 Gryphon.

Dragonriding is OK but it’s way to involved for my likings…cant mount up and start flying, go get a drink while flying, come back and continue. Always have to “punp” it up to keep it going. Also, hovering around point of interest until you know what you need to do is also quite “stressful”

My only issue with dragonflying is that I can slam into the earth from the full speed flight and survive. Must die or get severe damage. Also must take damage flying or banging into the wall.

Not realistic!

I like dragonflying.

Going back to kalimdor for the flying event and the stark juxtaposition of zooming through a course and then having to crawl through the sky to get to the next one has really made me dislike regular flying.

I really enjoy dragonriding a lot more than normal flying, i do think theyll add normal flying at some point but i cant help but get the feeling people will just complain that theyre only moving at 310% speed.
