It’s not the dragon that’s handicapped. Trust me.
Are we playing the same game?
You can download a WA that shows you your dragon’s movespeed, and that thing flies almost constantly at 600% movespeed, and if you play your cards right at 875% movespeed which can be boosted to up to 1200% movespeed.
Note that flying mounts are 280% movespeed, and if you spend 5k gold its 380% movespeed.
Dragonriding is actually a good feature.
It’s hardly a grind, especially considering it’s account-wide.
You enjoyed swimming in the air? For me it was convenience, not enjoyable. Dragonriding on the other hand is really fun in my opinion.
Flying is no longer a boring aspect of the game. It’s interactive and skill-based, the way it should have always been. You want to fly over all the content? Then work for it, I say.
weeeell it is not
you a not depend on covenant abilities and mediums, all what you can get from them have 0 impact on your performance in any type of content
and yea, grinding rep was always a part of wow, and now it’s not forcing you to do that if you interested in any type of content but lore and collectibles
i’m literally in love with that thing
and almost everyone whom i know loving it, a veeery few people crying that it’s bad and blablabla
after all what we had in previous expansions I beg blizzard to left this dragon riding for any other place whenever story will bring us, that’s just incredible enjoyable to fly over any location literally in seconds
I’ve really enjoyed the dragon riding. I’ve found it really fun with some amusing (to me) moments along the way.
I’d love to see it extended to other areas too (old world and previous expansion zones).
It’s unfortunate, though inevitable, that there are people who are not enjoying it. Those that have IRL issues that inhibit their enjoyment of the new riding have my sincere sympathy. Those who just want to spew hate, or who want to bot/automate gathering etc, certainly do not.
I hope Blizzard does not cave in to the usual vocal minority too soon.
Dragonriding gives me vertigo. With all of the motion sickness options turned on, it at least gets rid of the nausea, but the momentum sensations gives me pretty much permanent vertigo. If I play for any amount of time, it also lingers, sometimes for hours after I finish playing.
Yes, I emailed the accessibility people during the beta, and no real useful response because it’s so much of a central feature.
Also no, whelp follow doesn’t work because that will just make me barf. Regular follow makes me motion sick.
This is why Blizzard can’t win, no matter what they implement into the game someone is gonna moan about it, dragonriding gets you around the map faster than normal flying would, the difference is it takes skill to keep up the speed rather than autopiloting to wherever you need to go, getting the glyphs isnt really hard apart from the one in Thaldraszus on the top of the mountain, but even then its a fun challenge to get to.
Rather than rehashing old content they brought something brand new to the game and yet people are still complaining, granted it isnt perfect in all aspects but the game is less than a week old. Instead of bashing them for not living up to unrealistic expectations, either play the game or dont, but dont spend 24 hours a day on the forums whining about it.
You guys are no fun. Can you just enjoy something for once instead of crying and moaning about it? Youre worse than toddlers.
One the whole Dragon Riding has been really well received. Unfortunately I’m not one of the people that enjoys it. I would love a toggle to just let me have slow regular flying with full control than the Captain Kamikaze flying at breakneck speeds.
Ofc snarky people have to imply because you don’t like it, you some how can’t actually use it properly. Having a differing opinion or a personal preference is far too challenging to comprehend.
I can totally understand that those that love this interactive speedy flying would like to see it in the rest of Azeroth and I have zero issues with that. As long as regular flying isn’t removed. A toggle of some kind would be more than adequate.
I find the customisations of the dragons underwhelming, but I am not advocating they be removed. During Legion your weapon skin choice was far more impactful. You could notice what people were using. All the mounts look more or less the same at this point. Colours and patterns are far more impactful than say spines on neck or bone.
But there are combat items selling on vendors linked on renown…
This is the textbook definition of the “liberal” types and should be taught at schools. But we digress…
So far my experience has been that very little skill required. Harder than a regular mount, for sure, but not terribly challenging either.
I usually squeeze every last inch of travel when I have to cross the map.
But for the umteenth time, the map is so small, and so full of taxis, there is no need for very fast mounts especially not hovering.
I am actually very disappointed that the map is so small, I was expecting something more than Legion/BfA/SL this time.
None of the motion things help me, it still makes me feel nauseous. Wow never used to be a game that made me feel sick and now it does. It’s actually easier in group activity because I just ride along as whelp and don’t look at my screen while travelling.
Oof vertigo sounds rough
Indeed, id hardly call 830% movement vs 310% crippled or broken.
Bring dragon riding to Azeroth!
I personally really enjoy dragon riding, and unlocking the customisations for it.
It is 1000 times better, than grinding a borrowed power system, which then gets irrelevant the expansion after.
It’s becoming quite obvious here on the forums, that the people who doesn’t like “unlocking appearances and collectibles”, absolutely hate this expansions features.
But to me, a person who spend 50% of my time PvPing, and 50% of my time farming collectibles, this expansion is the best I have ever played so far.
They replaced the pointless borrowed power grind, with a world full of fun optional content. And the problem isn’t that “there isn’t anything to do”… The problem is that WoW min/maxers doesn’t know what to do with themselves, when daddy Blizzard isn’t giving them a weekly checklist to do.
A big portion of the players have a hard time getting “unconditioned” from the content we received these last 3 expansions.
I LOVE the focus the expansion has, and I think a lot of people could benefit from taking a step back from the “weekly rush” we were spoon fed these past expansions.
Slow down and enjoy it, instead of BLASTING through the story, without paying attention to what is going on. Explore to ENORMOUS world we have been giving this time, and discover the hidden things (there are A LOT).
See this is the kind of thing I object to. I’ve seen it here and on reddit. People making strange presumptions about others.
I don’t like dragon riding, however that has nothing to do with how much transmog, mounts, collectibles I gather.

Disliking dragon riding also had no bearing on my appreciation of having less chores to do. I also love the removal of the borrowed power. These are all long overdue IMO.
People linking random things that aren’t connected is like saying people who wear red tshirts are allergic to custard. Most love dragon riding, but those that don’t love it have their own reasons.
I am not making “strange presumptions about others”?
The forum is full of people who are hating on Dragonflight only days into the expansion, because “there is nothing to do”.
There is plenty to do. But because it isn’t a obligatory borrowed power grind, people don’t know what to do about themselves.
People should give the expansion at least a month before complaining about “lack of conten”.
The feeling, when you scroll official blizzard forum, and all of a sudden there is a take worth reading
Last Schadenland patch I deleted the game and unsubbed, because I could not care to grind another BİS/borrowed power/glyph to be able to PvP.
Could you please break down, what’s the prep for current rated PvP look like? İs grind still in or do I have to just ding 70?
I find dragon riding extremely fun tbh also mcdonalds is by far my fav fastfood chain. I’m having a blast in df right now not gonna lie.
How very narrowminded of you.
I don’t like dragonriding despite being ‘good’ at it (I won’t claim I’m super awesome at it). Let me explain:
- The selection of mounts you can use with this feature is incredibly limited. I don’t like any of them; with or without the customization. They don’t fit the fantasy I have for my main character. This ruins immersion and fantasy for me. Has nothing to do with dragonriding skill whatsoever.
- I have found that because of dragonriding, my ‘bond’ with the zones is much less than in previous expansions where we were forced to stay on the ground. They don’t feel like actual zones, but rather ‘race tracks’ or just ‘stuff in between the quest hubs’. It has taken away substiantially from immersion and ‘zone bonding’. Again, this has nothing to do with dragonriding skill whatsoever.
