Maybe Blizzard could add in an achievement for doing the leveling campaign without using a flying mount once (in the appropriate zones of course). This achievement could reward a nice cosmetic reward. This way, people have a choice, but also an incentive to try leveling without flying.
what u say may be right for the sense of scope and mystique but that would require smaller continent because ppl like their time respected in modern day. (wow is not played by majority kids anymore)
In TTW you had no choice untill you unlocked steady flight.
Imo it should be the other way around.
To be fair all 3 should be an option at expac launch so people can pick what they want, i pref the slower flying as the other one gives me motion sickness even after all the changeās.
People who want to force others not to fly due to there immersion are just selfish tbh.
As a disgusting elitist CE raider, no. I like being able to quickly and efficiently fly around the zone at xpac launch and get my boring open world chores done so I never have to chase elites for gear again. Thank you. Good night.
I was not aware of this(I only use skyriding), but I agree. No reason why steady flying should be limited either.
That isnāt the case for everyone. I you donāt wanna fly, donāt, but donāt limit the rest of us. Iām more immersed by flying.
What difference does it make? The quests have to be done on ground.
This is the approach I take. I used ground mounts at launch of TWW until Iād explored most of the zones through the campaign. Definitely the right choice for me⦠but itās pretty clear from the many forum threads over the years that a lot of player really donāt like being stuck on the ground. Let players choose how they want to play, Iām sure all of us have enjoyed some QoL improvements that werenāt always in the game. For me, itās follower dungeons and story mode raid bosses that are my favourite QoL addition in TWW.
That would actually be a fun way to do this.
Make an challenge NPC where you can lock your flight that way you can even still use your favourite mounts without flying by mistake.
And that way the game has it easy to detect if you followed the rules.
I would be down for that.
Soā¦the world will always be as small as we make it ourselves. As inā¦some will skip every and any object or path thatās not strictly needed, and some will explore every little piece of ground in a zone. The experience between these two extreme points vary a lot.
Therefore, donāt try to find the solution in restrictionsā¦just give players more reason to explore in detail, but keeping that optional.
I prefer having the choice. As others have pointed out, no one is forcing you to take to the air, so just donāt. Thatās cool, I sometimes drive around the world on my motorbike for this exact reason, I like seeing the world at a slower pace.
Itās just an idea for an achievement, so Iām not sure why I would have to justify the difference between playing through the leveling campaign with skyriding or with ground mounts (but to be clear: It makes a difference).
Donāt you have ground mounts? Nothing is stopping you from using them instead of flying mounts.
But they want everyone to use them for the visual āexperienceā like in the olden days.
Still like tahs idea of making a challenge thing
I would have preferred equal treatment for both types of flying and not make me endure vomi flying until my first character reached max level.
This I can agree with. No reason to lock normal flying behind anything for the people that canāt use skyriding.
No we need to have flying on day one. No more timegating of flying.
Donāt use it mate. Problem solved.
Giving a unique reward for playing a specific way does not give players the option; if anything it limits them even more. You give players the option when you present them with multiple paths for the same end result, and each path having exactly equal quality of rewards, and as close as possible quantity of rewards for the time spent to reach the end.
