Droprates crystals

Hello,

Since last week i’m having issues finding any arcane crystal while mining.
I think it’s been 5 days since i’ve seen one now.
A guildy of mine has the same issue.
Is anyone else getting much lower droprates than usual?
Would like to know if there was a silent nerf.

done 20+ dmE jump runs past 2 days, zero arcane crystals. before that I would always pretty much have atleast 1 in 5 runs.
So I have started to search if there has been a nerf or something or just bad luck.

Found 1 arcane crystal since day 1. Guessing it’s random…

It’s just rng. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you get got.

Heh I had horrible luck for ages and ages, but on Christmas week I got like 12 crystals in a few hours.
Hardly any after that :stuck_out_tongue:

Doubt there’s any stealthnerf to it - biggest factor to me is access to veins, wether there’s farmers or gankers flying around. On Christmas week late at night there weren’t many

Same thing here. Since i got 2x crystals in 1 mine , i must have mined around 60+ and not a single crystal. Not to mention most mines are just 2 clicks.

PS: after writing this literally the 1st mine droped crystal…

You should get approx 3 crystals every 100 hits on a node, since it’s a 3% chance. (4 if you mining in Silithus)

Once I had 180 ore without crystal, then I had 7 on something like 20 hits, with 3 on one node.

It’s just RNG. My guess is that the game will keep you at a 3% chance drop, with moment of pure happiness and moment of drought !

With a large enough population, you’ll find someone “who doesn’t have any luck at all”. This is especially true of these low drop rates and it’s probably why Blizzard eventually implemented “bad luck protection”. Bad luck protection is how people usually intuitively feel how random events work (which leads to things like gambling addiction). The “mote” system in TBC was also created to make farming materials more reliable.

And we’re superstitious…we have a tendency to draw conclusions about a statistical system based on our personal experiences. If those experiences are at either end of the curve (unlucky - lucky), the conclusions tend to create false beliefs.

With a 3% drop rate, for 20 crystals, you are likely to get 2 almost back to back, but two that took a drought of about 100 mined veins.

I’m seeing this type of thing happen when I farm The Eye of Shadow in Winterspring (sometimes taking weeks between drops and then getting many in a few days).

RNG hitting you in the balls.
Same here didn’t see a single crystal in 2weeks.
Then again I had 1 blue sapphire for the entirity of classic.
ONE.

Well it really depends of the day, sometimes i need to mine 60 ores to just get one and sometimes like yesterday i got 7 in 1h 30 of grinding

Guess it’s just a coincedence then.
Somewhere in the back of my mind i had a feeling they stealthed it with the bwl preq, to maybe impact TF crafting, but then again, those that are going for it probably already have their crystals/bars stacked.

Back to hitting nodes then.
