Drops, Loot distribution and General Gameplay issues

Here we are back at the decades old problems and issues that were making alot of people complain and thus got fixed in later expansions and patches.

Drops: another MC run, another BS drops that no one and i repeat no one in the god damned 40 man raid needs or even considers as an upgrade in a whole 2 hour raid. Same loots drop way too often in a loot table that has nearly 20-30 items per boss. Even trash drops the same god damned loot over and over again. Some classes are “lucky” others are just no ones that are importante.
The only item i got so far in my raiding adventure is Eye of Divinity and that because the rest of the priests already got it and has a 50% drop chance every kill. Which brings us to loot distribution; Not only are you suffering from same loot drops or drops that no one needs, when an item does drop (1%) that you COULD use or IS an upgrade to you, you still have to deal with Loot Council. No matter what system your guild uses, if an item drops that someone needs you can bet your house in that the loot is gonna go to the buddy of the upper class or the upper class itself making you practically just an useful idiot, no roll, not even a hope or a chance, no reward for your contribution. So your gear progress does not match up with the “patches” of the current game. You’re gonna raid with pre-bis or alternative items in upcoming raids which will put you in an even more uncomfortable situation because now you risk losing your spot in raid or your turn in loot because you’re not enough. Some classes have it so hard that some of their BiS drops from World Bosses, you go ahead and figure out what your chance is of getting that item let alone the drop rate. 2 Loot/boss - 40 man raid(1 run/week) %dropchance : is adding salt to your injury.

Then join a DKP system guild.

The loot is really crappy in classic, for example we’ve had about 10 eye of divinites in a row now, our hunters have had zero leaf drops.

Yeah… xD.
It’s just really bad RNG.

done Onyxia about 30 times by now. not seen Deathbringer drop even once.
same for Ragnaros and Spinal Reaper.
i saw the eye of sulfaros drop once but that was given to a warrior who was more buddy-buddy with the raid leader than i was. a week later he was about to give that same warrior crown of destruction. (this was my old guild btw, not my current)
yeah most loot councils are corrupt to the core, to say the least.
my guild is switching over to lootcouncil soon as well, i can only pray things will go well. :raised_hands:

Not like you would ever get a spinal over a warrior anyway. Also it would be an abomination to give any upgrade to an enha over a warrior. Dont see why you are suprised.

Gameplay:

Druids:

  • 5 point Ferocious Bite should be doing atleast as high damage as a mage frostbolt(half health bar gone) around same lvl range.

  • Ferocious Bite should be avaible in between level 1-20 not 32, being the main damage ability.

  • Druids melee hits should not miss/dodge/parry as much, it is contrary to the gaming nature to be solo’ed by same level hostile non-elite NPC

Priests:

  • Mana cost of abilities should be reduces drastically. It is unfair that one class can solo 10-20 mobs in one mana bar and have others wanding. Also they should last atleast more than one third of a single boss encounter without having to use potions or beg for innervate or afk

  • Threat should be reduced of all priest abilities such as Mind Blast as the class is not designed for tanking role. It is quite contrary to logic that a priest can overaggro a raid boss and not even be in top 10 in dps meters.

Paladins:

  • Taunt should be added in abilities of a paladin. What makes a tank… a tank? A perfect example of how absence of a cruicial ability can reduce a whole class to botting.

Warriors:

  • Damage of warriors should be increased drastically or be given more rage to use abilities more often or be given more edurance at lower levels.

Alliance:

  • Alliance needs more flight paths on more reasonable spots and more reasonable question zones with more reasonable quests. Traveling half a continent at levels 10-30 on foot is torture.

  • Alliance should be given equal racials as that of the Horde to match up in PVP enviroment

Drops/Spawns:

  • Drops of quest items should be increased drastically
  • Drops of rares and epics should be increased drastically
  • Spawns of treasures, rares, veins and herbs should be increased drastically, It is causing a cancerous economic crisis/monopoly on every server. This is a game leave the real world greediness out of it.

Edit2: there is a talent that reduced threat for mind blast. Shadow priest tanks are viable, how else will i find tanks for dm west that nobody wants to tank? All my recent runs there was a shadow priest tanking.

You should understand OP, that classes are so different and unique to what they can do.

A druid does less damage than a mage, of course, but have you considered that they can also heal themselves? They can power shapeshift? Playing around your classes strenghts is important rather than focusing on “X class can do this but why can’t Y class do that?”

Give for example a prot paladin a little more time to build threat in an AoE situation and he/she will never have to bother taunting because they generate so much threat.

Loot scarcity is part of the game. Sure it is annoying that you might never see that specific item drop, but doesn’t that make you happier the moment it drops?

Sure idc, thought we were talking about pve here.

For all the people that don’t know the game from early on, has zero experience in former wow communities and did not go through the whole game starting atleast from The Burning Crusade:

This game had it’s climax at the first 3 expansions
Vanilla - TBC - WOTLK outclassing each and every PC game avaible back then and still do. (TBC and especially WOTLK private servers are full and loaded)
TBC-WOTLK being the jewel in the crown.
Vanilla made this game famous and later expansions fixed the known issues that people were making complaints about.
The downfall of “retail” started with everything after Wotlk and it started in Wotlk itself. Starting from group finder to more elitist guilds (notice Elitism is taking over)
Thus the game was taking a more individual role and was leaning towards grind and lore was becoming heavily involved in gameplay. It start with much hype and ended mocking names such as Green Jesus, REEE and all sorts of dishonorable childlike decisions devs made regarding both the gameplay and lore.
All of the expansions did a really good job at hyping people up to buy them only to have them quit after awhile noticing the game only gets worse each patch.
Drastic changes were made to classes that threw years of experience and effort out in the garbage bin.
All in all you can see the wow gaming community seeking the glory days wandering around like lost souls not finding home.

I’m curious about upcoming (?) official TBC and WOTLK servers. If they are launched and end up with a disaster as it did with classic and fail then you can with all confidence say that wow has finally died.
100’s of people already quit classic for many reasons, you yourself saw how forums were flooded. I used to see alot of people on my server and the LFG and world chat was nearly unfollowable, now people are struggling to find people for end game dungeons.

Different times. People changed. And as much as it pains to say, “They thought they did, but they didn’t”. It was inevitable that many people would quit within months realising it’s not their cup of tea. Doesn’t mean Classic is dying though, a lot of people are still enjoying it and will continue doing so for years to come.

I live hoping that ppl will eventually understand LC is just a BIIG scam…cant expect humans acting like AI and not being biased at all…

Seems like a disproportionate amount of people are having ‘just bad RNG’. How is everyone a statistical outlier, and this not be bugged?

We’re starting to think that loot tables are somehow tied to player GUIDS, as well as boss mechanics have been.

It´s a step up that we get a post that is not aimed at the “AV disaster”.
Anyway if this loot system is not for you, there is always the current retail version waiting for you. As always, i mean no offense, this is just how it is supposed to be.

I left in wrath so I never played with personal loot in raids. I didn’t even like the tokens introduced with AQ40. Goes against my whole gaming history predating wow by a lot. I guess we are all used to what we are used to.

Dunno why but I enjoy the suspense and the bidding/rolling. Not sure what the huge rush is about. I’m in it for the long haul.

Also I wouldn’t join a loot council guild unless it was a tight group that I was apart of and trusted. Currently playing with ex vanilla guild mates so it’s just fun to play together. Using ms/os rolls and trust.

Welcome to WOW as it once was.

I do have few points to add though.

  • It’s always been like this and only way to change it is to get Classic+ which I would very much like, but since this is Classic let’s not ask for that drastic changes?
  • Get into different guild if your is corrupt one, or even better, get into guild which uses some form of DKP (I know majority will shoo at me for this, but DKP is actually, imho, perfect for WOW classic). This would ensure that people who are there for raiding will eventually get item they want if it drops and they are willing to go all in for it.
  • Chill a bit with “BIS” crap. There is no point to min-max to that extend in classic, not at all. Difference between two or three BIS items and a bit worse items can be negated easily just by using one potion extra for most classes.

If however you are in guild wchich already min-maxes everything, goes into MC with all possible world buffs, flasks and potions then, I would say that you shouldn’t even play classic. I know there are guilds like that and I honestly do not understand why would anyone min-max to such extent in a game that has been beaten 15 years ago when it was much, much harder to raid (lack of tactics, different talents, different patches, negative resistances, lack of general information availability about items/bosses etc.).

Wtf are you saying lmao. Warrior is the best DPS in the game. Don’t ask for stupid gameplay changes or class balance changes or racial changes, this is the core of the game, this will never ever happen. The only thing that changed currently is out of this scope (gameplay/class balance/racial), becauses theses things are part of something that is immutable : the identity of Vanilla.

Where is the problem? The vanilla loot system is far more exciting than any other loot system the game have had over its 15 years of existence. The ‘fixes’ you are thinking about made alot of people quit.

If your guild’s loot rules isn’t working you are probably in a bad guild. Find a better one.

I agree there is an issue on loot drops.

I can see easier someone getting Legendary Item , rather than Sunken Temple finger with Stamina which is not even close to the quality of Legendary Item.

I been doing over Hundreds if not Thousand Dungeon runs , can tell you that very often if not almost always some crappy item drop same time nearly 5 times before some other item even drop.

This i noticed variate between servers tho , example in server Skullflame in Scholomance you would see lots of Bloodmail Boots dropping. Meanwhile in Mograine i seee lots of Bloodmail Belts dropping from the minibosses.

Such test was done with over 10 Scholomance runs in both servers.
