Long time mage main player and I was thinking to change my habits and things a bit. I am looking for an alt that it will be able to cover a healing role and my two choices are Shaman and Druid. I like both fantasizes and the gameplay looks interesting, good thing is that both of them have Range DPS specs and Druid has a bonus point for tank spec, but to be fair I am not sure, due to anxiety, will I ever try it out.
I am curious which class would you suggest and why? Which one you enjoy more? Which should be easier to learn, understand and less button bloated? What do you see as pros and cons for them? What do you like or hate about them and maybe some of your experiences or advices at the top of that would be very helpful.
So, what is your pick? Male Tauren Shaman or Male Night Elf Druid?
druid is better. but the problem with dps balance druid is the horrible and slow rotation (imho). feral is swift and fun but a bit monotonous.
and worgen more than nelf
I think Shaman is superior to Druid gameplay wise, all Druid has for it is the quality of life that is having perma-stealth and instant flight.
Enhancement is fun, fast paced spec with amazing visuals and sound effects, whereas Feral is slow, boring, and when you press a button you don’t feel like you’ve done anything.
Elemental vs Balance it’s the exact same thing as Enh vs Feral.
R.Sham vs R.Druid is not even a competition either, Shaman buttons feel impactful and as Druid you have to wait for HoTs to do their thing. SFX for Shaman wins again although rotation wise if you’re into cat-weaving Druid is more fun to DPS with.
Guardian is okay, I personally like it a lot and I love playing with good bears because they help a lot with healing the group, but if you’re not into tanking that’s not a plus I guess.
Shaman Bloodlust vs Druid combat ress is a tie.
Assuming you’re gonna play Horde, if you go with Shaman I’d recommend Orc (either one), regular Troll or Highmountain, and for Druid I’d say Zandalari or either Tauren. We have too many elves already, we don’t need more.
Thank you for the reply. If I pick Shaman I would probably play Resto most of the time and Elemental if it’s needed. I never played melee spec before and have a really hard time with them. Also Enha looks a bit complex to start with.
Why would you go almost all classes as Shaman and bot Tauren? I like Male Orc, too, bit don’t like how totems look.
@Teesla by saying the balance is slow you mean the spec has low APM?
My advice would be to create a trial character of both and play around with them a bit so you at least get a better feel for how they perform at a higher level with more abilities unlocked. It currently creates a level 60 character for you to try for 3 hours, more info below:
For me, I never wanted to play Druid as four specs is overwhelming to me, even though I can choose to ignore the ones I don’t want to play. I also don’t like spending the majority of my time in game in a different form which doesn’t show my transmog choice.
I mained a Shaman for a while in DF and really enjoyed it. If they had a Tank spec, I would be very tempted to have one as my main again as tanking is what I do but I also enjoy healing and currently can’t do that on my DH. They can also be a Goblin which is my favourite race, which I can’t be on my DH.
Remember, you can complete follower dungeons now to practice tanking, though not on a Trial character. Don’t let anxiety put you off.
I didn’t feel like I had button bloat on my Shaman in honesty but that could be subjective.
If you want to play as a cow, then I’d at least go Male Highmountain Tauren Shaman as their totems look better than the original Taurens’ ones.
I am mostly interested in healing and Shaman seems like a better beginner choice since it is more reactive then proactive.
If you can I would like to hear some comparisons with other specs/classes since you played it.
I was considering Highmountain Tauren, they have pretty nice totems, but they have very big hoves and the regular Taurens have more old school traditional ones. Will see, maybe I try both, but one is sure, both are bad for transmogs and pulling a good one is hard work.
err sorry for late reply. i dont know what apm is but i meant “clunky”. you have few buttons but is a pain to play. i cant desribe it. but compairing the elemental one is faster.
maybe try a trial account is the best thing
