The Weald of Seradane


The Weald of Seradane, or simply “The Weald” is a RP community based at Seradane in the Hinterlands with three goals in mind:

  1. Becoming a “hermitage” for young druids to study and receive tuition
  2. Providing a “retreat” for weary adventurers
  3. Enriching the wider RP community in The Hinterlands

Think of it as a remote monastic style community, a distant outpost of the Cenarion Circle. Druids will venture there to study and train fresh from Moonglade, while others will come perhaps for a window into such practices, or simply to rest and recharge. There are no commitments or demands on player’s time or participation. You’ll be welcome to swing by, or reach out to set up some RP. I’ll endeavour to host a couple of small social events each month in the form of tea ceremonies, druidic gatherings, lectures, story nights and so on.

For Druids who wish to more permanently base at Seradane a guild “Druids of the Weald” has been created, but participation in the community is not contingent on being a member.

For Druids

Roleplay will consist of lessons that will focus on nurturing a connection with nature and the Spirits of the forest, along with cultivating their early healing and restorative abilities. Students will also learn of the ceremonies and more esoteric aspects of Kaldorei Druidism, such as the construction of shrines, sacred stones, shimenawa and more.

For Guests

The Weald will offer friendship and respite. In the shade of Seradane friends and strangers will be warmly welcomed, given a glimpse into life of the Druids studying there, share in their ceremonies and be given the time and space to recharge and reflect. Expect to be served liberal amount of Nettle Tea and Rice Cakes as you enjoy the warmth of a campfire!

Lineage

Hailing from an obscure sect of the Druids of the Branch, K’var seeks to pass down those traditions and teachings as he slowly feels his twilight years drawing in. Young Druids will find information in Moonglade on The Weald and the opportunities spending time there during their studies can provide them.

Growth

“Change is the most essential process”, like any good teacher K’var works to promote the growth of his students. By spending time so far from Moonglade, studying and meeting new people he hopes visiting students, and friends will find opportunities to grow.

Connection

A hermitage for young druids during their studies away from Moonglade, a space for the weary to be rejuvenated and nestled in a corner of the world at the intersection of so many nations and peoples. There will be many opportunities to connect with many different characters, and to visit neighbouring regions and groups. We’ll be proactive members of the broader Hinterlands Community and those in regions around us.

Respite

The Weald welcomes all, especially the weary and downtrodden. Characters looking for a retreat will find peace and hospitality amongst the ruins of Seradane.

Lo-fi Vibs

More than anything my hope is that both player and characters will have an easy going, rustic cosy time. Be it RPing young druids learning new arts, strangers wandering by, or old friends coming back to roost, there is room by the fire and a cup of Nettle Tea waiting for everyone.

Locations

Seradane

As the name suggests most RP will be in The Hinterlands at Seradane, so most of the tuition will take place there and events will take place there. This is where K’var and other Druids of The Weald will reside.

Northern Eastern Kingdoms

Neither Seradane nor K’var are islands. K’var will visit surrounding regions and communities with his students as part of their studies and to help the friends of The Weald.

Druidc & Kaldorei Centres

There will also be visits to other areas connected via the Emerald Dreamway, such as lessons taken in Moonglade or the Root-Bound Sanctuary at Amirdrassil alongside joining wider Druidic and Kaldorei events.

The Weald of Seradane will be hosting its first introductory event for young druids and those seeking further tuition!

Several teachers across Moonglade and the wider Cenarion Circle begin sharing word that an old Druid hailing from ancient sect of the Druids of the Branch is starting a hermitage for young Druids at the start of thier adventures in the forests around Seradane.

Described as “The Weald of Seradane”, it’ll be an opportunity for druids to learn both how to commune with the Flora of the forest and the healing arts, but also of ancient and obsecure esoteric rituals of the ancient Druids of the Forest.

The first lesson is said to focus on offerings that can be left for spirits of the Forest.

Young Druids already stationed in Moonglade are being directed to meet K’var at the Stormrage Barrow Dens before venturing to The Hinterlands via The Dreamway.

NOTE: You will need to be able to travel through The Dreamway on your druid if you plan to start in Moonglade. Alternatively you can begin at Seradane.

This event marks the introduction of The Weald of Seradane, a RP community based at Seradane in the Hinterlands offering RP opportunities for Druids at the dawn of their adventure, and those looking to further their knowledge.

We’ll start with introductions before moving to Seradane via The Dreamway where we’ll learn out first lesson and take part in our first ceramony.

Future events will regularly take place at Serdane, think of this as the first step in laying those foundations and getting to know each other!

Our first event is this evening, and I’m looking forward to welcoming fellow Druids to Seradane.

We’ll start at 20:00 (Server Time) with K’var meeting students in Moonglade at the Stormrage Barrow Dens, so if it makes sense for your character to start there, meet me there.

We’ll use the Dreameway to get to Seradane where there event shall begin in earnest. The itinerary for the evening:

:tea: - A Tea Ceremony to welcome the new saplings, and thank the forest

The Great Cycle [Druidic Lesson]

Understanding The Great Cycle is one of the earliest, and most fundamental lessons for any Druid, the most essential essence of Life: its transience.

Shan’do K’var gathers the students of The Weald of Seradane together to embark on a lesson of connection with life’s great process and passage. Together we will examine the inherent patterns and connections of The Great Cycle, and begin down a path where we accept that “This too shall pass”.

OOC Information:

This theory based lesson in Druidic prctice and K’var own philosophy will seek to give characters a better understanding of how Druids aspire to understand the connections between living things, and that life’s passage must come to embrace its passing too if we are to see rebirth and renewal. There will be opportunities to debate and students will tasked to wander and find objects that make them think of The Great Cycle.

The Winds of the Hinterlands [Druidic Lesson]

“This evening we shall begin learning the winds of this land. To know them, commune with them and gain their trust so we call upon their aid.”

Naeyas raises a taloned finger into the air, a curious local breeze stirring from its natural path to follow his finger tip as he draws small circles in the air.

“We druids speak to the winds and the wilds. To weave the winds and breezes is a broad skill that all druids may learn, and I as Druid of the Talon shall take pleasure in teaching it.”

Naeyas of the Talon invites all who would learn to gather and learn the winds of the Hinterlands. This lesson will begin with a short session discussing the difference between druidic and shamanistic wind manipulation. After a short interlude and task, students will join once more for a communion with the winds of the Hinterlands and apply what they have learned.

Dreamwalking [Spiritual Experience]

The scents of Seradane waft lazily on the northern wind, its chilly bluster receding slightly from perception as the lulling energies of the Emerald Dream spill from the dreamgate’s mouth to strengthen ones connection to the Dream.

“At the dreamway gates the connection between the Emerald Dream and the Waking is strongest. With the correct aids to meditate before one affords a rare opportunity to shed the body and walk within the Dream. I will guide you in this.”

OOC Information:

Naeyas of the Talon invites all who would learn to gather before Seradane’s Dreamway gate for a guided journey into the Emerald Dream. This lesson in walking the Dream is a gentle one, appropriate for both those who walk the druidic path, and those who do not. It is a journey of spirit beyond flesh, and chance for both dreaming thoughts and memories to be manifested and faced.
