Hello I want to roll a druid in classic but was wondering if its good in pvp/pve. I heard they are not that sought after in raids and dont want to level a class to 60 that i will ditch because i cant play the game.
It’s perfectly viable. If you want to play it, play it! Release your inner furrie.
They are not sought after particularly but you should play whatever you prefer. Unless you are in an extreme hardcore guild everything is “viable”. Especially with today’s skill and knowledge vs. what it was originally in 2005.
I played a balance druid in vanilla… hoo boy. That’s an experience I don’t wish on anyone.
Yes, just expect to be a healer in raids. You’ll have to put it in more effort to be accepted in as feral/balance unless you’re in a friendly guild. They are mediocre in pvp in terms of damage, but that’s a product of being a jack of all trades and a master of none.
Just remember that you play a class and not a spec. Unless you want to torture yourself with the kind of mindset “I CAN PLAY WHATEVER I WANT”, its true you can! Just that you might not always be wanted Again, play druid as a class not a specific spec.
Camman, druid! Druid nao argh!
They are healers and can work as emergency tank but that is it.
On pvp they are flag carriers and outside WSG, only other use is using being healer in full stealth group to do stealth caps.
If you want to be a healer, role a real healer class.
If you want to be a dps, role a real dps class.
If you want to be a tank, role a real tank class.
Druid in classic is an average class that is not very good at any role.
He can’t, that’s a priest only ability
(nvm i read inner fire instead of inner furrie lol)
The problem with Druids compared to Shamans for example is that they’re difficult to multi role at the same time. For example, look at Shroud’s group on Twitch. He’s running Enhancement Shaman very effectively as a proper support class, mixing DPS and Healing. With Druids, you don’t really have any way to do this without eating your mana meaning you can’t really do both.
Both Paladins and Shamans have much more flexibility and (in my opinion) feel more like true hybrids because of it. Druid shapeshifting is awesome but you’ll consume so much mana switching between forms to fulfil your hybrid niche that you’ll end up being less effective.
Just my perception.
just incredibly wrong
just play resto?
My friend played Druid back in vanilla and the only build he was allowed to play was Resto, because on comparison with other classes balance/feral builds weren’t that good back then.
But then again he played in a semi-hardcore guild who wanted to min-max everything for the best results. For example that guild only allowed Troll Warriors to play as their tanks, because on Horde trolls have the best racial for building threat for tanks. (now that I think about it, that racial is quite powerful compared to other races on Horde)
If you want to play as druid I would say go for it. Don’t allow anyone to tell you otherwise.
Clearly it was because Trolls regen 1 hp every 5 seconds in combat.
Druid is the easiest class to gear and you can tank heal or DPS in raids all the way to Kel’thuzad as Kitty/Bear/Healer without any real problems. Boomie is a little more controversial as you’ll only be taken along for the 3% crit buff for casters.
Don’t believe those who say you can only heal… they’re stuck in 2004 mode and as long as you’re willing to farm consumables, Manual Crowd Pummeler (for DPS). and the correct gear, you’ll be more than viable in the right niche. There’s really only a few bosses Druids can’t Main Tank, and for those it can, it does higher TPS than warriors, and the fact it can be crit is fine since they have more hp and armour
Druids are good fun but yeah they are going to be missing a lot of the utility of the other classes. As a healer Druids are great but you don’t have a regular resurrect which is a pain. As bears/cats you don’t have anything like the toolset of warriors/rogues respectively. As boomkin you’re just a poor man’s mage that runs out of mana all the time.
Druids have some nice abilities of their own and no one can match their mobility (hence WSG flag carrying experts).
My main is a druid so I’m not trying to put you off - just pointing out the reality. Like I say they are fun class to play that are easy to level.
As an experienced PvP player, my choice is druid. Can I go to raids? Yes.
You will get raid spots because of innervate, which is OP, if I recall correctly. So play it if you enjoy the playstyle.
Don’t expect to top the meters, that will not happen. If that is going to be frustrating, then roll paladin or priest (priest more fun in my opinion)
Thank you guys for all the replies !
Just play what you like. I think druid is intresting (especially in pvp situations). They can tank in dungeons and also have some good skills to heal. It’s better to play a class you enjoy and i less min-max than the other way around
