Dynamic Flying Combat

It’d be really epic, if we could shoot things in front of us while flying. It could become a part of various raid fights or dungeons for extremely epic fights vs large enemies. It could also form a new way to do battlegrounds or PvP with a mix between conquering flags on certain towers, some ground combat, and shooting other players off their mounts.

Here some inspiration:

Would be really epic and vehicle combat could become an actual part of the game and not just an outdated mechanic from wotlk, if done properly

Dont mind if you want this for PVP, but in a dungeon this would just suck. If i want to do aerial combat ill go play a different game.

Imagine you could upgrade it, get different combat modifications, different weapons, etc. If you don’t like the aerial flying, they could add a passenger seat, where you can shoot as well while someone else flies  For example this whelpling that we have now, when someone is a passenger, could spit fire

I dont do PVP so if you want to do it for PVP i dont care.
I want my character to fight the boss not a vehicle, like i said if i want to play a vehicle combat simulation i will go play world of tanks or warthunder or something like that.

Would suck for those of us that have motion sickness.

I could settle down for more interactive ground mount combat or a dynamic ground mount system with combat. I think vehicle combat in general in this game could be insanely epic, but it seems like they haven’t bothered with it. Especially upgrading and customizing your own vehicles could be cool.

However, I do like the idea of Dynamic Flying combat, because I just imagine fighting something like Galakrond in a raid and splitting up to attack certain weak spots while dodging his breaths and slashes, so he falls down to get into a new phase

it could work as a separate thing like a brawl BG where you have to hit other players with your mount while flying a few times in order to kill them. at least in my opinion i mean

No.

10 characters.

Or vision issues. I love dynamic flying, but I can’t see once things starts to go fast while e.g. turning. Eyes can’t adjust focus fast enough, so some of the dragon races I have to learn through memory because I am actually blind for a brief moment while what I see changes fast. Part of the reason why I don’t drive a car.

I get the same on boss encounters if unexpected things happen. I usually end up in the right spot because of memory, but there are times where I might send my character in a totally weird spot because I just can’t see anything at all if I have to look around fast. It works out quite well, but it’s unpleasant to play like that. Might be why I have zero interest in PvP, because I just can’t see anything at all when people go mental on their keys with jumping, speedboosts, running and what not. I just see a blur of colours during it. I can’t work with that. I’ll stick to PvE I guess!

So should the game not evolve, because people can’t handle the same mechanic of racing car/plane games?

Imagine Rockstar decided to cancel any story parts or usage of planes/Choppers in Gta vi

I feel like the game needs to evolve a bit beyond its pure ground combat. Vehicle combat has been part of the game for a very long time, but it has never been refined I think.

Pretty interesting idea, but I feel it’d only work either on instanced events for dungeons/raids or on specific PvP arenas made for that.

I, for one, would LOVE to pew pew with my Lightforged Warframe!

Yes. That’s correct. It shouldn’t.

I’ve hated vehicle combat ever since they introduced it. I rolled my character to play my character. Not a vehicle.

I don’t enjoy games where you control a vehicle. Never have, never will. I don’t play GTA as I absolutely hate the entire concept of that franchise. I absolutely hated the driving parts of Cyberpunk and had to install mods to make it somewhat bearable. I refunded Starfield because of the vehicle gameplay. Etc etc.

In short: I sincerely do NOT want vehicle combat to be ‘an actual part’ of this game.

No no no no no NOOOOO. No.

Having it be in the 9.2 raid is already bad enough. Flying is not gameplay. It’s transportation. Stop making it gameplay.
I am not playing an MMORPG to race, to play a FPS, to do twitch combat and all of that jazz. I play MMORPGs to relax and have fun. Stop putting action into my MMORPG!

Sorry for the rant, but I don’t want WoW ruined by un-WoW-like gameplay.

It needs to be it’s own game mode, like PvP and dragon racing is. Integrating it into the core progression path changes the game into another game. I really don’t see the point in that.

Imagine you fight the Toes of a huge giant in phase 1 of a boss fight normally. Then in intermission we all fly up and shoot his knees on our flying mounrs while he moves and tries to slap us. After we weakened him enough, he falls down on his knees where we finish him in a traditional way.

This type of cinematic boss fight would be enabled with vehicle combat. Some dynamic flavor to balance out the static dps rotation spam would be welcome, no? Wouldn’t that be amazing? Why does the game formula always need to be 100% the same?

T-Swift in Amirdrassil is my favourite fight, but just moving between platforms is not epic enough. This raid would have been extremely epic with aerial combat.

Also, why stop at aerial? Ship battle, canons, catapults, etc. are all integral parts of the wow story and should be part of the actual game too.

How is flying not gameplay? What else is gameplay? Oneshotting mobs for 600 gold world quests? Doing my damage rotation I learnt from wowhead? Doesn’t it bore you at some point? Wouldn’t it be nice to have some fresh elements to wow combat and a bit more diversity in terms of gameplay.

Epic… And very annoying to control with a keyboard.

Counterthought, while in Warmode, boosting through an enemy faction player on a dynamic mount midair with a dynamic flight mount dismounts them, causing them to fall to their death (yes, it counts as a kill for you!).

I know. I defeated countless players by surging through them (and maybe finishing them off on the ground).

Not sure about you, but I’m a bit bored with the game. It’s always the same thing. I do like wow, but if they don’t add significant innovation to gameplay, how could I possibly not get bored. I can only dodge swhirlies, while doing my damage rotation so many times until I get tired of it. Right now, for me at least, it feels a bit like loot collection simulator with meaningless gameplay

It’s not about evolving. Sometimes some things just won’t fit in the game. Some features can be cool in others games because they were built for it, not here.

It’s like asking WoW to have body slider or housing, players actually asked for this a million times for years and we’re still waiting because they either don’t have time for this or they just can’t do it with the engine.

As for combat flying what will be the purpose of it ? Even GW2 doesn’t have that because all it would do is clutter the skies with people cheesing mobs.

Same problem in PvP, I just don’t see how they can make it work or even balance it when they already have massive troubles with classes, stats and talents.

Sounds pretty epic to me to sit on a gryphon as a dwarf and shoot storm hammers on my flying mount

How about you taking a break, and trying another game for a while?

Changing the core of WoW gameplay every time you need something different doesn’t sound very realistic or sensible.
