Holy priest is still a spec i am not familiar with. But i would definitely recommand shaman
I second resto shaman. Mine âjust worksâ for most things I want to do (16-18 keys at the mo). You can get a lot done with just Healing Surge, Chain Heal, and Riptide. Learning to put Cloudburst down at the right time (e.g. at the start of a sustained healing phase) is massive, but thatâs only the 4th rotational button. Get the hang of those and youâll be off to a great start.
People get a bit tied up in how many total buttons resto shaman has, and yes it can be a lot; but they arenât part of your healing rotation. Healing Rain is typically more of an offensive spell than a heal, so donât panic if you donât get it down on time every time. Chain Lightning vs Lightning Bolt? Nobody will notice if you only use Chain Lightning.
Most of all, outside of Cloudburst, shaman is a simple reactive healer. A health bar goes down, cast something, health bar goes up again. Minimal forward-planning is required and spells hit hard enough to make them feel impactful. Like any other healer, you will eventually need to learn how to alternate cooldowns to cover damage bursts, but thatâs inescapable.
And since you bring Bloodlust, itâs relatively easy to pug. I firmly advise the engineering bracers with combat res to boost your personal utility though, since thatâs the biggest thing the class lacks.
I find it ironic that you posted that with ⊠a Night Elf Priest character !
No offense meant, I know we (almost) all choose our avatars on this message board for names and aesthetics
well I am a priest, I am a dwarf shadow priest with a different name tho and when I do heal I play disc not holy. the forums just refuses to update it after the race change.
at least it has the most heal buttons that feel like they do absolutely nothing whatsoever lol
I might be able to help with the avatar change : I think you need to go to the âmessage board settingsâ and hit a refresh button.
Well it finally updated itself but thanks for trying
what kind of BS is this lol? If I wasnât too bored of m+ atm I would have pushed to 2.5k rating but I was content to stay where I am now. I can comfortably heal most +17 keys, depending on the affixes and group comp ofc (eff grievous, srsly).
Oh and I switched from Hpala at the start of DF, maining it since TBC, to this priest in S2.
Higher than 20? yeah then it becomes a different matter obv, but everything below 20 can be done by any class.
You can play whatever you want wherever you want, but you would do so much better if you switched to disc, as itâs 2 times better spec for m+ than holy.
And that thing about 15+ level keys was an obvious exaggeration. I played holy through all bfa, sl and s1 df on holy priest in m+, but in s2 decided to switch to disc, and the first question was: why i didnât do that earlier.
Yeah but I find that specc convoluted as hell. I donât like that I have to dps to heal and the button bloat is pushed to the extreme on disc. Not a fun specc to play imo.
Ah fair
But yeah itâs true for m+ disc performs better in the logs, but I enjoy the holy playstyle.
In raids itâs fun too, where disc falls behind again in raw numbers.
I would like they redesigned disc again to be a pure proactive healer with shields and abosrbs like it was in wrath/cata.
Thatâs kinda why I like messing around with disc myself, I like the pro active playstyle.
Sadly its a bad pug specc for the same reason as its great at dealing with predictable dmg but really bad at healing mistakes.
Weirdly the reason I rerolled to priest in S2 is because I was fed up with the state of Hpala at the time but mainly because I recently quit wrath classic where I played healing priest since BWL in 2019 classic, all the way through naxx, TBC and wrath.
I was curious how it would play in retail and as Iâve said before I didnât like disc so I went holy. Surprisingly it feels a lot like in classic, esp TBC. Ofc thereâs only so much variety when it comes to hardcasting heals, but I enjoy it.
Good luck with your new character! Have played various healers and agree with all the votes above for Holy Priest. You also donât have to worry about interrupts, which means you can focus more on learning to heal.
Extra benefit - if you want to try out a more complex healer when you get more experienced, you can always swap to Disc without having to level/gear an alt.
Enjoy! ^^
Holy paladins are super ez to play just get hang of it. You have the most abilities to heal through burst damage and itâs not an meele only heal anymore.
Awesome choice ^^ (for the race too) Hope you have lots of fun!
