Encrypted Affix

Here is my own personal experience of the Encrypted affix.

I feel that the affix itself isnt too bad but a few changes I think need to happen, I do not think that the relics in their relic form should “buff” already buffed bosses or trash , Isn,t this what Fortified and Tyrannical affixes are for??

The relics in their main form are WAY too big (Especially Urh Robot Form).

I think that the affix should be more like the Lieutenants from the previous affix in the sense that their could be a set amount of Relics in each dungeon (Rather than the heres a set of relics with almost every other trash pack) strategically placed and each set left alive would provide each boss in the dungeon with the Relic buff,s.

So maybe if you leave 3 sets of relics up the end boss would receive -5% dmg reduction for each set of relics left up and 5% dmg increase and 5% + HP. (of course this could be adjusted per relic set etc like maybe 2% per set and have 15 sets of relics in the dungeon for a total of 30% modifiers on bosses.)

Or something to this effect, This way people could actually use the relics and decide the amount of relic sets they want to kill in each run rather than oh look theres a set of relics buffing an already buffed Death Speaker in a pack of 5 other mobs or something.

This could be a more interesting affix rather than the affix of “Oh heres more trash to kill”.

I do feel that the affix is more suited to a fixed team of people who run M+ , Such as the MDI teams etc rather than the PUG groups as most PUG groups just default to Urh anyway. (Well most of mine do)

I am sure I will get flamed with a Git Gud comment or two, But just thought I would add my opinion (like anyone’s opinion actually counts on these forums anyway). :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I initially didn’t like this affix that much but once I got used to it, I actually find it pretty enjoyable. Most noticable was when I did some Legion keystones with my friends yesterday and we were all talking about how everything felt more slowed down without Urh.
I’m still not a fan of the way they are spawned since it just adds more nameplates to the mix. But I like that it’s a medium difficulty/medium impact affix, even if most groups just go for Urh by default. It helps to be in an organized group, but at the same time it’s not going to wipe the group if you spawn the wrong relic from people popping all their AoE right away. Only thing I think they should do in terms of tuning is adding a mana-regen to all 3 relics to make life a bit easier for healers in pugs.

my main gripes with this affix are these:

  1. Urh feels way more impactful, and the higher you go the more it starts affecting not only DPS but the tank and healer. If you don’t kill Urh, tank won’t be able to keep doing big pulls because he won’t have his defensives back fast enough and healer won’t have his cooldowns either. So it feels like 99% of the time you are pigeonholed into picking Urh no matter what.

  2. Vy mob is too aids to kill. When you proc Urh you can just cleave it down with whatever other trash or boss is there and it doesn’t do anything except bash the tank. Vy will keep teleporting around basically forcing you to single target it down (very inefficient) while avoiding the beam that can overlap with other mechanics. All this for a pretty mediocre buff compared to Urh.

  3. Not really it’s own point, but the lack of incentive to switch between different relics. Wo just doesn’t feel like it has enough incentive to be utilized often because some dungeons are just too linear or the placement of the relics are in such a way where you might as well just use invis pots or shroud and save the time spent killing the pack (or take Urh and invis pot/shroud). It feels like you could have just released this affix with only Urh in the pool and almost nobody would feel any difference lol.

This is actually true. Only dungeon my group uses Wo is in DoS where it’s actually useful for skips that can’t be done to the same effect with shroud or invis pots. Vy is usually the result of accidental cleave. If every pack just had Urh, I don’t think we would see many complaints.

Ye initialy ot felt wierd, too uninpactful compared to tormentors. But when you get used to it… urh relic adds soo much power to your group its insane. Especialy when it also replenish healers mana. Vy is kinda meh and usualy spawned only by accident.
Wo is the only interresting alternative imho. Giving mount speed and shroud is a realy nice idea that can be utilizied on many places.
I would personaly changed Vy relic to something more versatile, interresting.
