So Xal’atath does her iconic Jailer move: appears, takes her funny artifact, kills someone for the lols, and still doesn’t elaborate on her big plan. Whilst Alleria is left crying on the ground again.
Literally a full circle nothingburger. But don’t worry, guys I’m sure they’ll bring Locus Walker back in Midnight in a wheelchair so Khadgar won’t feel so lonely.
Literally zero progress was made through the entire expansion.
And you expected to get that from the end-raid-cinemantic? After SL and DF you should have already guessed those are no longer for any lore reveals or the next expansion introduction. We’ll have the 11.2.5/7 patch for that.
Well, Xally has absorbed quite a lot of power in her Dark Heart by now and we know she’s not working for Dimensius but in her own interest; we’ve learned about ethereals and brokers and all the people on Khaz Algar, so it was at least something… and I mean, after the trilogy reveal, we already knew this expansion would mainly be the Midnight waiting room.
The cinematic is fine. It’s classic WoW, honestly.
But some people will always find something to whine about. PS: If you expected a twist, you brought this on yourself. It was told to us again and again that this would happen. So if you then start to expect something unexpected, it’s on you.
Especially ita just someone with a Classic profile char.
Still Xal’atath waa able ro “contain” Dimensius and with that power in her hand she got what she wanted and will use it to kickstart midnight-you know thw second part of the trilogy which will be important since Tww was just the start ans laid the ground work.
Alalo locus walker “dies”, so so at least someone important dies in this expansion
Honestly I was expecting Turalyon to die at the end. It was obvious that Alleria would lose someone important by the end of TWW, but who cares about Locus Walker?
What is Gallywix? Chopper liver?
I’d say he is more significant than Lotus Walker. Who cares about Lotus Walker?
Edit: Yes Locus is Lotus. I’m keeping the typo, it sounds better.
Remember when as soon as she first appeared I called her out as yet another classic example of Blizzard being utterly incapable of writing an interesting character?
If its female. “Ooohhhh spooky lady driven by “hidden” agenda”…
Xalaprat = Sylvanas MkII because Blizzard’s never ending love affair with her never fades.
Any male character. Muscle bound moron, solid bone from the neck up with “daddy issues”.
And here we are yet again. Far too many people drooling over Xalaprat (not all reasons particularly wholesome) because they’ve got a surrogate for their previously atrociously written “strong female character”.
I really hate being vindicated on Xalaprat, all it has done is shown that the story writers at WoW have completely emptied the barrel, and they’re not so much scraping the bottom, but chiselling it.
Its such a shame to see supposedly strong female characters reduced to cliche ridden abominations partly designed to stir “feelings” to keep them relevant.
The greatest irony is.
There actually IS a “strong female character”, but too many people jumped on the DEI bandwagon, while the biggest culprits are blizzard for abysmal virtue signalling.
I’m convinced no one in this thread pays attention to the story, or have any memory at all.
Her big plan is to power the Dark Heart to claim the World Soul, she said so in the launch trailer (“The World Soul, so long denied me”). She tried to do this with Galakrond’s essence, then with the Black Blood, which we fueled during the war against the Nerubians. Alleria thwarted her plan by breaking the Dark Heart which had to be repaired by Goblins. Then, the Etherials used the Dark Heart to siphon energy from K’aresh and other Ethereals to power Dimensius’ return. Using this to her advantage, Xal now has a Dark Heart filled to the brim with a Void Lord power and promises to take everything Alleria loves, which implies an attack on Silvermoon and the Sunwell, as it has already been stated that bringing too much Void near the Sunwell turns it into a Void gateway.
The Old Gods are dead, the Black Empire failed, now Xal’atath is using the Void to claim the uncorrupted soul of Azeroth. It’s not a Sigil situation where you just have to guess what’s going on, all of this is clearly stated during the whole game.
You can argue that we’re back to zero, yes, but Xal isn’t, she accomplished her War Within objective to power the Dark Heart because we failed to stop her.
I think that the issue is that we dont really understand what the stakes are and her end goal. I mean sure, she wants to do all that but those are still steps in her plan and not exactly an end goal. Like does she want to create a new Black Empire, does she somehow plan to resurrect the old one, is she working for the void lords or is she trully a free agent?
The entire story just seems like absolute nothingburger.
Alleria has been butchered as a character, and has become so painfully unlikeable. I roll my eyes every time she is in a cinematic, and Xalatath is just manically laughing on repeat while showing off her feet.
My understanding/theory: She wants control over Azeroth (the world soul), to be more powerful than both void and light. She wants to rule over everything (and/or destroy those forces).
Classic ‘world domination villain’ trope. Fits WoW to use old tropes; they always have.
