Enough is Enough: Battlegrounds in WoW TWW Ruined by Russian Premades! Organized Premades!

Honestly, I can’t believe I’m even taking the time to write this. This is literally the first time I’ve ever felt the need to post a public complaint about a game. And yes, I’m so frustrated that I even used ChatGPT to help me write it, because my brain is too fried from the garbage experience of battlegrounds in The War Within.

Let’s get one thing clear: I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for a long time, and I’ve seen ups and downs, but THIS? This is just next-level nonsense. I queue up for battlegrounds, hoping to enjoy some fair PvP, maybe get a little competitive, maybe even have a little fun. But what do I get? Russian premades steamrolling everyone. Match after match, it’s the same disaster – full groups coordinating like it’s an esport, blowing through solo players and randoms like they’re made of wet tissue paper.

And it’s not even subtle. Everyone knows it. The chat lights up with “oh, another Russian premade,” like it’s a joke we’re all just supposed to live with. It’s like Blizzard doesn’t even care. The matchmaking is broken, and no, it’s not “get better at the game,” it’s “how am I supposed to have a chance when I’m solo and facing a coordinated stack?”

I don’t even blame the Russian players for wanting to play together – that’s fine – but what’s the point of matchmaking if it just lets this stuff happen over and over? It’s demoralizing, it’s not fun, and it’s actively ruining the experience for a lot of us.

I’m ANNOYED that I even have to be writing this. Posting complaints online isn’t my style – this is my first one ever – but Blizzard, you’re making it impossible to stay quiet. You’re killing the fun of battlegrounds in your own game. You’ve turned a competitive, enjoyable mode into a frustrating, unfair mess where players feel like they’re signing up to be stomped into the ground.

Seriously, fix the matchmaking. Fix the premade abuse. Do something. Or don’t, and watch more players check out for good.

And yes, this was made with ChatGPT, because even an AI can see how messed up this situation is.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on win trading and queue abuse in rated blitz – if we go down that rabbit hole, this post would turn into a novel of rage.

I feel this post on a personal level. You’re not alone, and honestly, I appreciate you taking the time to write it – AI assist or not. The issues you’ve raised are ones a lot of us have been quietly putting up with for far too long, and it’s good to see someone lay it out so clearly.

The problem with premades in random battlegrounds – especially the highly coordinated ones – is that it completely breaks the spirit of what “random” is supposed to mean. There’s a difference between being outplayed and being steamrolled by a fully synced group when you’re solo queuing with strangers who can barely agree on where to go. It’s not competitive; it’s just demoralizing.

You hit the nail on the head – this isn’t about blaming specific players or regions. It’s about the system failing to do its job of creating fair, balanced, and engaging matches. People queue up expecting a chance at fun and instead get turned into cannon fodder for groups that are clearly exploiting the matchmaking rules.

And you’re right to call out the silence and inaction. Blizzard has the tools and data to see this is a recurring problem. Ignoring it is only pushing long-time players further away from a part of the game that should be a highlight. It’s PvP – it’s supposed to be exciting, not exhausting.

Honestly, posts like yours are what the forums need more of. Not just mindless negativity, but real, grounded feedback from people who care about the game and want to see it improve.

Blizzard, if you’re watching: this isn’t a fringe opinion. It’s becoming the norm. Fixing matchmaking, limiting or separating premades, and addressing queue abuse should not be left on the back burner any longer.

Thanks for speaking up – even if it took a fried brain and ChatGPT to get it out.

Well said OP

Maybe you should know what “Random BG” refers to: that the map is random.

In TBC, there were only “specific BGs,” and in WoTLK, they added the “Random BG” option where you could access any map.

No

The normal Battleground queue is for players to jump in and play against other players in a similar situation. We realize that it’s not a perfect system, and we’re still looking at ways to improve normal Battleground queues further. Regardless, it’s not meant for organized groups to “pug stomp” and get quick Honor. We have built in outlets for players that want to organize–if a competitive, social experience was really the goal, then there are clear ways to achieve that.

The ultimate effect that this kind of queuing has had is to drive players away from PvP. Perhaps it’s been a long time since you’ve been in a random group, but a lot of players will see that they’re up against a premade and simply quit. At best, they suffer through it. To an extent premade groups count on this. Heck, one of the popular addons announces opposing players that appear to have rage quit.

For as long as there’s been Battleground PvP, there have been players looking for a way to destroy their enemies to quickly and easily get fast rewards with a minimal time investment. That’s the bottom line here, or the variety of other options available would be more compelling.

Very few premade, if at all, are one nationality; it is the times of the Azerothian PvP Communities. There are overly aggressive to too lazy gaming styles at play, which is part of the issue affecting the gaming experience. IMHO. Epic battlegrounds, for example, are a mixture of both; it is a team-orientated battle, so even as a casual, you must be prepared when signing up to expect to some extent to play as a team. The overly aggressive premade teams, seriously, what is the point? Random battlegrounds have improved but badly need updating, but self-governance is also essential. Excellent post; like you, I and many others love the game.

Coming back from work take a shower and log in to play few hours of bgs then you face a premade.
Best feeling i had so far.

The quote you provided doesn’t actually contradict what Delenis said.

The point he made was simply that “Random Battleground” refers to the map being random, as opposed to “Specific Battleground”, where you pick the map yourself.

You get an extra reward if you play a Random BG because the whole map pool is included, also, you can meet organized groups in both Random and Specific.

Your quote focused on issues with premades in BGs and how that affects the PvP experience, which is a valid discussion, but it doesn’t address the definition of “Random Battleground”.

It’s all good to throw around long quotes, but you should make sure you actually understand them and use them in the right context, instead of just dumping them randomly. Your post completely loses credibility when you answers off-topic to a simple statement…

I’m also writing via Chat GPT because my English needs polishing. Let me clarify — those Cyrillic names you see in BGs aren’t part of some coordinated premade group. Blizzard’s non-rated BG system separates EU and RU players, so when you face a full team with Cyrillic tags, it’s just random folks from different Russian realms who queued up and got grouped automatically. They’re not planning strategies — they’re just here to play, same as you.

Play RBG (Blitz) — all servers get mixed there.

True that it’s separated, just like german and french pool btw, and that they can be complete randoms sometimes. But often they also form premade groups, for example plamenszo(endofstori), okssi, manope, etc etc.

Yes.

Your quote talks about “normal” battlegrounds (=not rated), not “random” Battlegrounds. The “random” in Random Battleground indeed refers to the map being selected randomly out of a pool of available maps and is the opposite of queuing for a specific BG.

It doesn’t have anything to do with whether there are teams in your BG.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply – really appreciate it. I just want to clarify that my post wasn’t meant to target any specific region or group of players. The frustration is with highly organized premade groups in general, no matter where they’re from. It’s the mismatch between random solo players and coordinated stacks that kills the fun, not who’s playing.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one feeling this way. Hopefully Blizzard actually listens this time.

I’m not here to play rules lawyer with bad actors (and you’re definitely next on ignore list).
I was providing OP historical statements from Blizzard on the topic of premades and battleground queue (which “random bgs” are part of).

We were talking about what the word “Random” refers to in this case, not the personal opinion of a blue who probably doesn’t even work at the company anymore about “Normal Bgs” (Which could be both specific and random Bgs).

Why im not in your ignore list???

If you’re not here to “play rules lawyer”, maybe don’t accuse others of being wrong when they make a factual statement.

You brought up a quote that doesn’t contradict his point, and when that’s pointed out, your response is to claim bad faith and throw people on an ignore list ?

It’s just an easy way to avoid admitting you misunderstood something and responded off-topic. Ignoring someone who proves you wrong is more comfortable than acknowledging you misread a post and misued a quote.

This has become the standard with these folks when you make too much sense.

Random bg, let’s see.

The map is chosen from a random pool of maps for 10-15 players.
The teams are NOT random, you are allowed to queue up with a group of up to 5.

I wonder which part of random the random part in random bgs refers to.

I sign up alone or in a group and expect to meet players who sign up alone or in a group up to 5.

Thx for saying it. The only thing different about the players from the Russian servers are their Cyrillic letters. They play alone or in groups just like everyone else.

This 100 times.
Not only this, but it is also a much better experience for solo players.

Yea but if the Russians want to play together they could just go earn more XP in rated 10v10, they don’t want it fair hence why they do it. Imo I find going into random queues with a premade team is bmade behaviour and you’re right, Bliz should do something about it considering we wait f* knows how long for a game.

Trouble is, there is 1 team organizing a game every night, after 1 game it’s dead and no games can be found, if you’re lucky, you’ll perma play vs boosting teams… the bracket is extremely neglected and boring, no wonder no one hardly plays them.
