I’m tired of clearing out an area to make it safe for me only to have mobs basically respawn about ~5 seconds after I kill them. I have been trying to do a quest in Dalson’s Tears(Eastern Plaguelands) and I can barely regen health/mana without undead mobs practically respawning a few seconds after I kill them.
YES I agree totally. They almost kill me 4 out of 5 times too. Dynamic respawn for me would be each mob on their own timer, so that they respawn x minutes after being killed NOT all mobs respawning at the same time all around me. Sigh.
Sometimes you’re all alone and they respawn instantly, sometimes there’s a ton of people and they take forever to respawn. I don’t know why’s that.
Agreed!
Just 30 mins ago i tried to clear the area around Echeyakee’s spawning spot where 2 other lions patrol. I killed both of them twice and then one of them spawned for the 3rd time.
I understand there’s a need to make them spawn faster due to high population, but this is not how it’s suppose to work.
We sometimes even see the one we just pulled getting a replacement before it dies.
It is a bit insane on some mobs, meanwhile the named ones for a quest usually takes 15 minutes of twiddling your fingers.
Dynamic respawn works like shyt: when you need it, it doesn’t work, but when you quest alone in a player-empty area of mobs, they spawn 3 seconds after you killed them.
Dynamic respawn does not work on named mobs I think and on “trash” mobs its viability is sometimes questionable.
I play a lot on “dead times” which is good for leveling (but sucks for trying to do dungeons) but sometimes certain caves/mines etc. are real pain. They should not spawn so fast with me pretty much only one in zone but somehow they do.
edit.
Oh yeah. Vanilla had some insane rapid respawn on some but I recall some AMA where they said classic has dynamic respawn.
I seem to recall overly fast respawn being an issue back in the day also, at least in certain areas. The gnolls in Mulgore come to mind, which both back then and now had absolutely insane respawn rates that made tackling them rather hazardous. Not sure if it got worse in certain areas or not.
But yes, it can be quite annoying to get screwed by respawn, so I certainly wouldn’t mind a fix there.
It is camp respawn time problem, not whole server respawn timer problem , some places take forever to respawn , others respawn fast , some respawn on your face as soon as you have killed certain amount of mobs in that camp,
I’m not annoyed by respawns of mobs. Dynamic respawning is normal behaviour.
But what is irksome is when suddenly we swap layers for no reason and suddenly mobs that instantly attack us surround us. Normal respawn mobs ALWAYS have a grace period where they afk and don’t attack anyone, not mobs from different layer tho. This is the worst possible scenario to happen in a cave when you’re low level, out of mana and low hp and extremely annoying to deal with. Burning medallion quest says it all, what a horrible horrible quest and layering only made it worse ugh.
Fight your way in to a cave, only to see the path out is littered with the enemy within seconds, this cave will be your tomb.
Dalsons Tears is an infamous AoE farm spot for a reason. Who knows why Blizzard decided it would be a good place to do almost instant respawns.
Exactly. And this spawn behaviour is, as best I can remember, distinctly not Vanilla, either. The only time I’ve witnessed entire enemy camps respawn on me (or someone else) all at once (and sometimes seconds after the last mobs dies) is Classic. In Vanilla, mobs spawn 99% on their own timer, so that you could actually time “farm routes” from mob to mob, where each mob respawned exactly as you arrived at its place. Sometimes, one mob would spawn a bit faster or slower, but it was pretty reliable. Whatever this sorry spawn system is, it’s not Vanilla.
It absolutely sucks, especially for cases where you clear an area for, say, an escort quest that’s about to come through.
edit: And what is with layers in high level zones? I though they were meant for starter zones only, or at most for the low level zones. But Felwood and WPL are layered, and much, much worse in terms of gameplay impact - it can happen that I’m fighting a normal fire elemental mob in Shatter Scar Vale in Felwood, and suddenly I swap layers (or the mob does, I don’t know, I don’t care), and I get a face-full of Elite mob that just poofed up in mid-air.
Same with WPL: I ride in, target a mob, and shwoop, it’s gone. Brilliant.
To quote a great philosopher: You bucked it up.
…But with f for a b, because apparently you can’t even handle adult language any more. What happened to you?!
instant respawns are a first world problem and you will realize that once you have to compete with several people for mobs that have bad respawn and quest drop rates.
I have the problem of mobs having different spawntimers on mobs killed at the same time which is annoying when u want to control farmspots
