Struggling to see the upside of this community so far, I thought that things would change from classic vanilla, but things are the same if not worse in some scenarios.
The PVP system has degenerated into Pay2Win, there are people using multiple accounts or paying gold to acquire honor through means of silithyst, and with not enough BG’s running it’s impossible to compete with this honor gain.
The PVP community is completely toxic and degenerative to the point where they’re cannibalizing the small niche community. T3 premades stomping pugs.
The PVE community is like a group of cliques now, you upset one person you upset all the sheep and before you know it you’re blacklisted by a guild.
The gatekeeping of loot is as bad as it ever was.
Kind of hoping we just get a fresh vanilla at this point or at least an interesting SOM vanilla.
I do play both horde and alliance PvP for a long time now. I am well-known in both factions and I have no idea of what you’re talking about in terms of people being “completely toxic” or “degenerative”. True, sometimes the imbalance is next level, but this also happened during Classic. Still, and going back to your point, we have a PvP discord for example where any, any, insult or disrecpectful remark is quickly shut down. So again, I haven’t seen this, like at all.
PvE community closes doors if you go around dispelling main tanks, raid leaders, etc. using every trick in the book to upset everyone and their mother. I mean, no susprises here for what it is a small community. And we all know who does this, because the people who do are extremely vocal and proud of it.
As for the gatekeeping of loot, we in our guild came up with a loot system for which, outside of minor differences that we sort out, everyone got to select their wish prio list for Naxx and get exactly what the wanted. Again, have little idea of what you are talking about.
In other words, the possibility of a new season of Vanilla or SoM has been discussed here in detail and it would actually benefit the Era community, since once those versions were over people would have the chance to go in and join us. So on that point I agree, it would be great for everyone. In any case, to come here and say things so far from what others experience seems fiiiiiisshhhyy fissshhhh
I’ve only heard of a hand full of rude ppl which get blacklisted on the PV/MR/NK-cluster cause of their infantile, rude and/or greedy behaviour.
Its a small com so you should behave the best you can - no one is in the need of idiots bringing riots to the table.
And this includes being of the opinion 39 people complete encounters only for you new guy.
I’m/we’re raiding for years and months now all the content and theres still key items which drop rarely; so you arent getting them first (nels tear for example - 8 ppl waiting and raiding for in my regular raid).
As for PvP: everyone who wants to rank up has to follow the organisers ruleset or youll never rank serious. This is because the brackets are well calculated so everyone gets his/her wanted standing soon or later. Its a fair deal for the work required. Afaik.
@Bananoid, I have seen your posts around here and you simply defend Era regardless, even if cheating/exploiting and bullying of other players goes on you will still defend Era. Nothing fishy about having a personal opinion this is my perspective.
@Sect you simply don’t know what you’re talking about in regards to PVP, it’s everyman for himself and PAY2WIN and maybe it was always pay2win with exploitation going on in earlier phases of classic vanilla, but ultimately I think it’s worse in Era than it ever was in earlier phases.
Are you sure they are not just pool boosting and giving out bracket slots? Are you on the relevant PVP discord for your realm? Because it sounds like it is organized that way - as it was on all small Classic realms. I got rank 10 and 11 that way without even having to put in much work or contributing - just by doing low level bgs btw, so no crazy honour -, because they didn’t even bother to hand out such low slots and were happy for me (as long as I didn’t break any brackets, obviously, which I didn’t).

I am sure that it’s every man for himself, there are people abusing having multiple accounts and paying to gain more honor than others. It’s the most unfair PVP system I have ever encountered and if ever there was an arguement for changes to the game it would be this unfit for purpose system that is being exploited by cheaters and people who pay2win.
There is the so called ‘breakers’ who dont care about anything and their rules. Farming as much honor as possible. True.
I would not recommend acting like this special snowflake guys cause it’ll lead you to a blacklist cause your bracket break forces others to play (way) more than regularly needed.
And then the insight comes: your R14 gear is garbage in P6 and you want to raid AQ40/Naxx. With a burned toon.
ehh ranking gear depends on the class.
14 is generally thrash thats true, but 2/3set from 12 and 13 can be very worth even bis.
Unless you want to bring a full glasscannon that is.
I do defend Era, yes and I have given you specific examples for it - Does the Era PvP Discord exist and is rude behavior quickly shut down? Yes. Do we know who dispels and gets blacklisted to join guilds? Yes. Do we gatekeep loot? No, at least not with whom I do clear Naxx.
You on the contrary, throw an all out attack - I have ranked up in PvP in the Alliance… never heard anything about Pay 2 Win but poolboosting, and this is very well organized. Nobody can do anything on their own, this is a fact.

As for cliques and gatekeeping of loot, I am not denying some guilds do this. I can’t confirm nor deny. You are generalizing though, and this is a big NO as it does not happen in the guild I play for.
Now if you want to throw accusations around of cheating, exploiting and bullying, give us specific examples (as I am doing) for us to work with. If what you say is true, then we have work to do. If on the contrary you cannot, then what does that say about your post?
Sure thing theres a few very good parts. Im still wearing my R13 shoulders on warrior - but nothing else. The rest is iLvl 75+ stuff out of AQ/N and some keyitems from lower content (DFT for ex).
But you get my point I bet. Want to being able to unleash the full force your toon may can bring to the table requires the high end stuff.
And my PoV is: be a nice person and dont ruin players brackets for low gear, find a raid team and contribute to success.

You’re being disingenuous, I urge you and any other player to go on any Saturday/Sunday to Silithus, Hive’Regal camp, horde side, Firemaw cluster and see what people are doing. They are cheating, they are account sharing and honor trading, they are paying other players for honor, they are breaking TOS and are not playing in the spirit of competitive play. The top 5 players in the honor standings are all doing this, they are all cheaters and should be suspended/banned for doing so. That right there is your Classic Era PVP!
Depends what you mean when you say lots of PVP, what type of PVP is it? I would argue majority of the type of PVP in this version of the game is toxic yes.
The type of PvP that I play is BGs - every day from 16is to 00sh. Just had AVs on Friday AND on Saturday which is a testament of where ERA is atm.
As for the problem at hand, let us say it is 5 players then and you are right in your assessment. Come join the PvP discord, let us honest players know who does this and lets try and find a solution.
We can start with checking it out and reporting - a coordinated action is nothing out of this world for us to carry out. In fact, I would be more than happy to help.
If you let me know who they are, I will help you try and put an end to it. And I am sure I will not be the only ready to do so.
Uh huh, i’m not joining no discord I have already mentioned how cliques are more highlighted in Era. Talk is cheap, go and do something about it if you can, I doubt anything will happen though, because i’m certain these people on the PVP discord already know about it.
I found his request pretty reasonable. If you don’t want to report people for cheating or have others help you with it so it might actually work, that is on you.
The ONLY way you can rank at all on Era do to the limited palyer base is organizing pool boosting, because the PVP system in Classic is weird this way. And they organize this via discord, “clique” or not.

We are after AV weekend. Was like best AV weekend ever with balanced games on friday, and well saturday was great for Alliance but i guess it fault of horde not play objective. I wanna see hwo you run T3 premades in AV when we all know each other on ERA. And both sides has pretty much cap of pvp players on ERA like 60 on both sides max 80 same people. Still AV here is nothing comparable to retail or TBC/wotlk - meaning TBC and wotlk and retail AV are complete trash.
Everyone who was in AV can agree with that.
Appart for wsg there is many blue geared mages and druids who runs flag easy mode because they play this game probably longer than you. And what now? Get skill and faps and boots mate as rogue you should do it anyways.
I dont really get it ERA is what it is, its not any free give gear to new players place. You wanted play SOM play some dont touch era if you dont wanna raid and get gear if you wnana do some fancy battlgrounds undergeared.
Also I am often in top 5 players on honor farmed on Firemaw. I JUST PLAY FOR FUN. I Never bought gold I just got some gold from friend who didnt wanna play ERA even when he cloned. I never cheated I dont know any jumps and I never farmed Silithius honor stuff in ERA. So what you talk about?
Another incorrect statement, maybe stick to making PVP videos that no one watches of you 1 shotting undergeared players.
@Elwenil Why are you in the top 5? why are you making premades with your own personal healers? why are you dragging bg games out for an hour? why are you doing BG’s all the time when you’re full BIS? Why are you spending upwards of a 100g in warsong gulch games?
