Dracthyr would be perfect (to me) if
- you could chose between both male and female human and elf for your visage form
- dracthyr form transmog was separate from visage form (ie hide shoulders/belt in dracthyr form only)

Visage form is essentially an illusion so you get to let others see you as you want them to. It’s so those around you can feel more at ease.

Dracthyr are like miniature dragons and the dragon’s true ability is unleashed in their dragon form and not in the visage.

It would if the dragon was more of a spiritual component rather than
in a literal form.
The player would be within a transparent overlay of a dragon, sort of like a vehicle for the player, when performing sorting abilities. You would see the player encapsulated with the dragon, but the “dragon”, would be performing the animations, the player would just be positioned as closely as possible in relation to that animation being performed.
It could look really awesome artistically, if done well. Otherwise, I have the same issue. i just really don’t care for the dragon form. It feels more like a barely teenage dragon form, rather than a full grown adult.

Pretty sure there were talks going around after that interview where it was said that the “visage form in combat” would be for other classes using drachtyr as race and not for evokers.
I am kinda hoping in this as the other classes do not use magic that much so the dracthyr can focus their magic more on keeping the visage, where as evokers need more magic to cast their spells that it often breaks the visage.

Right now the Dracthyr is the only way to play any of the evokers… so thanks for not contributing anything I guess.
I still wonder what people do during combat, that the character model is such a big issue …
Like I usually am zoomed out a lot for overview. and barely look towards the Middle where my character is.
And to then think that they would want a desintegrate out of their faces

Roll an evoker
Get a race change toy (coin of many faces, shop transmogrifier, the DF beacon thing you run over) and turn into an elf
See how utterly ridiculous an evoker looks fighting when not a dragon
Wouldn’t for example a dracthyr warrior who only fights in visage form be basically just a blood elf warrior?
It doesn’t affect me, so I don’t really mind, but I don’t exactly see the point of this.

Let’s set aside our differences and try to accept the fact that not everyone wants the same thing. The amount of tunnel vision on this thread is mad. I made this post because it’s something that’s holding me back from fully enjoying this class. I am not in any way badmouthing your favorite race. It’s just not for everyone. A big thanks to @Punyelf for providing interesting additions to potentially show up in the near future!
I’m pretty sure that if they actually gave drachtyr the ability to transmog their gear in dragon form or make beefier dragon form that would have more built in armor options then people wouldn’t be so adamant about playing in visage form.

Honestly i don’t understand why some people are against having the option to play on visage form as an evoker. Something that expands our options is never a bad thing, nobody is asking to force this on everyone.
Just as they are working on animations for different classes on dracthyr, they could perfectly work on adding animations/effects for things like hover or breaths while on visage form so that it doesn’t look bad.
Personally i have fun trying to match my visage and dracthyr forms in a way that makes sense, but the reality is that the lack of tmog options on dracthyr form limits the possibilities beyond my liking, so i would prefer to be able to enjoy the creative freedom that visage has. Anyway, if they don’t change anything… well, atomic recalibrator it is.
