Current only way to fix problem is remove factions barriers in my opinion. Casual players like me will not coming beck to the alliance for some small racial advantage, or 15-30% bonus from pvp mode on.
Like someone earlier said some of alliance racials are better but players choosing them only for competitions then going beck to horde.
Every day without new content now making problem bigger.
Make it free to transfer to Alliance.
I think we can do even better, remove class barriers - let all the characters have all the spells and abilities.
Break faction barriers. Thrall is going together with Jaina and so we do! If someone want to go deeper in it let’s call it faction traitors. For example evil gnome moves to the horde side due to his life experience. You can wrote whatever you want but this idea seems to be the best. I could move back to my night elf race then ;). For The Horde!
Cause ppl like you, we have factions problem. If Blizzard not afraid “factions loyalists” we would have barriers removed long time ago.
You know…factions idea is so cool even more then 2,… but only on paper, in long time period, even without racials we would have this problem anyway.
Mhm well, the Alliance still had a significant number advantage in WoD, enough to trigger Mercenary mode for them in PvP.
So the real balance issues revealed around the end of WoD - beginning of Legion, which is what, 5-6 years ago ish?
This also has to so with the server-balance and guild limitations, not just the regional A:H balance. Even Horde guilds struggled on lower populated servers, having to swap to one of the big three (ish?) to get somewhere.
AD is quite crowded for the English EU Alliance, Silvermoon and Ravencrest too, but after that it quickly goes down hill. Lifting the guild-restrictions would perhaps help already for that subject.
It is true but why not faction change while we’re at it. I mean, many Alliance guilds changed faction on the same time than changing realm. Also, if it was a realm problem, then why are guilds leaving Ravencrest?

I didn’t say it was the only problem, just a significant one. But probably because that server was saturated with big guilds, compared to the amount of active players. If too many big push-guilds fish in the same pond, you will be in trouble sooner or later. Esp since the amount of active players constantly changes.
Sure but if Alliance overcrowded realms are loosing guilds too then it means it’s rather a faction issue than a realm issue.
Mwa, that conclusion comes too abrupt. There are 20 factors causing the current problems, tossing it all on one is too simple.
I know all of the issues that caused the current problem, it’s just a damn snowball effect alongside trickle down effects.
On the other hand, nothing can be done now to revert such imbalance, unless Blizzard resorts to more imbalance in the other way. Nah, I would not accept that.
Issue is, that won’t resolve anything. Most high-end players already have gone Horde and with nothing incentivising a faction change, Alliance will remain underpopulated. People won’t play Horde for OP racials anymore (not that those are the case right now) but they’ll play it for an already built up massive player pool.
I see no other sensible option than cross-faction play at this point.
Well the lore can still be independant of the faction game design.
We already see leper gnome in Undercity
And there’s already neutral quest / alliance quest / horde quest in game. We can still split the quest depend of the race.
The story line is independant of the M+ / PvP.
Even there’s cross faction team with Reghar / Valeera / Varian and the druid one in the Arena of Dire Maul, and no one was on fire due to cross faction play 
The whole faction system is not working. The best solution is to remove factions and let everyone play the race they want really.
Lore is lore, sure. But is a good enough reason to see this game die slowly? I don’t think so. If anything, it allows people to have more flexibility on what class racials they want for their alts.
