Hi,
I made a complain to the support team about how Faerin is portrayed and was asked to post it on Forums, so here it is.
As a person who has in their family circle a person with such a disability as Faerin, I found their portrayal disturbingly insulting to both this disabled minority and to their close environment, especially when touching on the prosthetics topic in some dialogue.
It’s very obvious that the people writing and signing off on such a character have never interacted with such a disabled person and just wrote something based on how they imagined their lives are and what they watch on anime.
These people are generally much tougher emotionally than what Faerin’s behavior indicates and the people in their environment are not acting in such an obnoxious way as shown in the game.
Also, none of these people make their disability part of their identity and if they could change it, they would do it in a heartbeat - make no mistake.
From my personal experience this is what I have seen and in the end we are here to play a fantasy game, not be reminded again about real life problems.
I am closing this with just saying that if you are going to touch on seriously sensitive matters, either know very well what you are talking about or don’t do it.
Thanks and I hope the writers are more careful next time.
Have fun I am off after this bitter taste it left me.

Typical modern writing - making shallow attempts at forced inclusivity and boosting their egos by picturing themselves as “the voice of those that aren’t seen”. Infantilizes and trivializes irl problems we really don’t want to see in a game, all underline by a victim mentality. Hopefully it’ll change - stories should give role models for others to follow and admire in such cases, not characters that are emotional cry babies we loathe and justify the toxic victimist feelings and making it their identity.
All the best to you and your loved ones OP, I hope your grievance gets properly reflected upon at Blizzard by anyone that still has a moral spine.

Yeah, nothing screams “weakness” like joining the Lamplighters and fighting elephant-sized spiders in a hellhole.

Disabled people are just like the rest of us in that they have a variety of personality types. It’s plausible she might behave any number of ways, regardless of her disability.

They could have scored a huge W if they had her react as most differently abled people do. This would have made her much more endearing and a role model for many people in that community. But they chose another course of action for some reason.

Don’t be offended for us, please.
Disabled people are just people, we do not have a specific personality.
All our disabilities are different. Some would change it and some wouldn’t. You only speak for yourself, nobody else.

Im sure if disabled people have an issue they can raise it themselves, they dont need you to get riled up on their behalf.
All youve done is lump them into a homogenous blob that you feel compelled to support - as if they somehow cant do that for themselves.

I’m honestly surprised that there haven’t been more disabled characters with how war affects soldiers. It’s not about ticking representation boxes, it could genuinely add some depth and complexity to story elements when looking at how a character would navigate a new physical hurdle

It’s like… like… a fictional character in a fictional, virtual fantasy world have had a different experience from real life?

What is a lgbtq+ haircut? I want to get one.
Everybody is different and has different experiences, personalities, so on.

The game model is more acceptable. The cinematic one… give her a pare of shades and you got Blade.
Anway, this is a cheap character. Designed for points and not much else. And specifically designed not be criticized, because some nasty people here inist it’s because of her skin color, like she’s the first character in WoW to have that skin tone.
But there’s a silver lining. The ones who created her are gone. So maybe we won’t see her after this expansion or better yet they might fix her up a bit, like have her use an action prosthetic and maybe grow some hair.

Even if she really is an insult to you, hard to believe as that might be, so what?

Nobody call my dear girl as insult. Faerin tried her best and she is great.
