Fake casing and interrupts

Can someone please explain to me how this game works exactly?
Sure, I’m not the best PvPer out there, not by a long shot, but I still know the basics.
So i’m casting a spell, I see a rogue/warrior/mage running to me with a clear intention to interrupt. I stop my cast, a moment later their kick/pummel/cs goes off and it still registers and I get locked out. It’s not an isolated incident, this happens quite consistently. Before you ask, my latency is fine, around 50-60 ms.
So what is going on? Am I the only one with this problem? May be it has something to do with some wierd spell batching or something? Share your experiences.

You cannot avoid interupts by stop casting due to how interupts work.
For exampel:
Pummel the target for 20 damage. It also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec.
A quick kick that interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 3 sec.
You could wait 3-4 seconds. But what wpuld be the point of that.
Fear or granates is great interupts by warlocks., or just to get away.

Ofc you can fakecast to bait abilities that are not blanket silences. Just fakecasted a poly successfully myself.

For OP, don’t know what’s wrong in your case. Perhaps you’re not cancelling your cast as fast as you think you are. Mage can spec into improved counterspell though, making it a blanket silence. That’s different and can’t be fakecasted, indeed.

Edit: Rogues kick can also be a 2 second blanket silence, apparently.

Wtf u saying? :joy:
It INTERRUPTS that school of magic (for example shadow) IF u cast it. It does not silence

Only if u spec it. But no pvp rogue specs combat

Thats fair i guess.
Idk about hunters or mages
But i dont see many pvp scenarios against a rogue or warrior were you “fakecast”. If you fakecast against a warrior at a distance he could easily charge and interupt. Then he can Pummel. Then he might have a mace that interupts by stunning. And then he can use a fear or granade.
Same with rogues, if a rogue is close enought to be able to kick he might also use a stun or granade☺️
Ofc you might be a case when its on cd, but usually not the case☺️

Bro I have no idea what you’re on about. I think you’re confused about what fakecasting means. It means the caster stops casting in order to bait you into wasting your pummel/kick on nothing. Of course a warrior or rogue can get fakecasted by anyone who possesses a computer and an active WoW subscription.

I think it’s a latency issue. 50-60ms is not really good. I have 50ms too with my LTE, but in former times I had a DSL connection with 10ms only, that was way better.

Latency of your opponent matters. You might think that he just pressed kick, but in reality he pressed it second ago and you’re seeing the past.

I know exactly what fakecasting is. It is as you said, bait someone into wasting his interrupt cd by stopping the cast yourself before they can interrupt it. My problem is that I do stop my cast manually before they use their interrupt. Like a split second before they do. And still their interrupt registers as if I didn’t stop it in time and I get locked out of spell school. That’s the problem.

I think you’re onto something here

I’ve noticed similar while playing my druid - numerous times hunters have cast Scare Beast on me and I’ve shifted to human form within plenty of time, and the cast still lands on me anyway and fears me around as a non-beast.

I was actually trying to answer to that warrior. Seems like I don’t know how wow forums work lmao
