False Ban – I’m terrified to play my main account now

Hello,

I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My secondary WoW account was permanently banned recently for “use of unauthorized third-party programs,” but I have never used any bot, automation, or hacks — not on that account, nor any other.

I appealed multiple times and got the same template response: “This penalty has been upheld. Any further requests will not be reviewed.” I respect Blizzard’s internal policies, but I feel that no one ever looked at my case as a human. It’s painful to see years of progress disappear due to what I believe is a false positive or possibly mass reporting abuse (since I had some issues with dungeon boosters that weekend).

But what hurts more is this: now I’m genuinely afraid to log into my main account (on the same Battle.net), which I’ve built over the last 10 years. I’m terrified that a similar issue might wipe everything I’ve worked so hard for — with no ability to explain or prove my innocence.

I love this game. I’m not trying to argue or demand reversal. I just want someone at Blizzard to understand how hopeless and vulnerable this experience has made me feel as a player who has always played fairly.

Even if nothing can be done for the banned account, I would be grateful just to know that my other account is safe — and that players like me won’t be punished by mistake without a path to be heard.

Thanks for listening.

What activity you did on your second account? Don’t worry about main, those bans usually not linked. Sometimes can be linked, but in that case bans happen in same time.

You was boosting or get boosted? In both cases, it’s most likely not mass report (bans for mass reports are usually for chat reason, not for botting), most likely it’s because of the fact that you did too many dungeons and blizzard system think that you are dungeon bot. Those chances are higher if that account was fresh.

Yeah that is exactly what happened actually. I have the account for a couple of months. I made a druid recently, I got dungeon boosted and pulled some long marathon during this weekend getting boosted. Literally getting from lvl 23-24 on saturday morning to almost lvl 51 on sunday evening.

Monday I was already banned…

I also think my ban is connected to that weekend and the boosting marathon. But I cannot say for sure, I am clueless, confused and afraid.

Yes, it’s probably because of long dungeon spam. It’s not because of reports - just blizzard system trigger to it, as a dungeon bot sign. Just keep appealing as much as you can, even if they said that they will not review it anymore. Sometimes people get unbanned after 10 or even more tickets

I am already at 5 appeals, all of them rejected.

I am losing hope.

Ban discussions aren’t allowed on the forums.

A false positive can always occur. That is why there’s an appeal process, but you said you’ve been checked over 5 times so hmm…

How do you reckon it is mass reporting due being banned for hacks? Where does it say that? You cannot be dinged by a hack ban with mere reports as it requires evidence that you did use some form of cheats to be banned in that category.

Blizzard relies on their own logs, there’s nothing you can do to prove your “innocence”.

You were heard, you just didn’t like the answer. Five times infact.

In their last message, I was prompted to make a post in the forums for further feedback, and that’s what I’m doing.

If you do a google search on this topic you will find countless similar occasions that were facing the same issue, an unexpected, uncalled for perma ban.

I have also seen it to happen to one of my favorite streamers a few months back, who engaged his community and got himself unbanned in just 2 hours. Unfortunately, I do not have streamer’s privileges in terms of community rallying, but I can least give it my all with all the means I have.

Last but not least, the point of this thread is how anxious and insecure this experience has made me, that I cannot even log in to WoW anymore. I know I have done nothing wrong, but I am still getting punished. I am in awe, in shock and with extreme levels of anxiety.

I honestly doubt that but what did they say exactly?

Yea I see them daily here:

Which happens to be whom?

If you have any feedbacks, please submit it on our community forums.

This is what they said.

It was Critcake, he’s multi r1 warrior on m+ on retail and he was also perma-banned , while accused for 3rd party programs botting/hacking. you can look it up.

Thanks for the link, should I make a post there? Is it that the correct place for such context as the one in this thread?

I know some people who got unbanned after 10, 20, or more appeals (there was a discussion about it in 1 of the discords). Most answers from blizzard are bot answers, and if you really innocent unban only depends of how fast real human will check your account. ANd it can take a lot of tickets, because blizzard support is automatized and most ticjets are answered by automatic system. It’s a problem with blizzard ban system and appealing system, it’s just a fact

I’m curious, how long do you wait for this supposed “bot answer”? That is an actual template for many similar inquires they get through the day.

Why do you think this is a fact? Where is this supported from?

Because i said, i was in 1 discord discussion about it. Many people, banned for that reason, got unbanned after very big amount of tickets and months appealing. Maybe it means that 90% of tickets before weren’t reviewed correctly?

Maybe it’s GM answer, but from GM that didn’t correctly reviewed situation - just checked some AI-generated metric/table that shows that you are bot (but this metric can be wrong sometimes), but didn’t review deeper - real game logs.

1 discord discussion isn’t evidence of anything.

I also doubt this since after a Blizzard warning they will simply cut your ability to make any tickets about it. It is a very large amount yes, but no doubt eventually they won’t.

There’s always a chance that there’s a false positive or that a random elevated review will take place some long time after the fact.

Ah I saw that and some others happen, in that banwave they corrected it fairly quick for those affected. But it has nothing to do with your ban though as this is a new banwave. Generally they do it in waves anyway.

You can continue making appeals if you want, good luck!

For you it’s not evidence maybe. But it’s not only 1 discussion, i checked it in multiple places. We can have different opinions for this, because you are defending blizzard and won’t trust anything that’s opposites your opinion, but i trust those discussions because i know many people who participating in it, were also participationg in other activities.

Yes, in that discussions some people recieved such warnings, but they didnt result in real action and you can still send tickets as much as you want. And some of them got undanned even after such warning. It’s what i am speaking about - you will be unbanned when real human will really check your account, not just some AI_generated metrics that can be false-positive

Hands up who feels some guilty pleasure over the thought of a prolific booster getting themselves banned?

I am almost confident that the boosters are still going strong. I was the one on the receiving end of the boosts, aka getting boosted

Please note that discussions about account actions or the system behind them are not allowed in the Forums, such practice is actually against the Forum Code of Conduct:

Account actions can only be appealed through tickets, Forum staff is unable to perform reviews for ban or suspension or provide additional information on the account action itself, or the outcome of any investigation.
