Farstrider and Highborne customisations for Elves - PLS

As much as I might want to discuss endlessly the ups, downs and sideways of elves… I think this conversation is kinda detracting from what the topic has become.

I am going to refrain from commenting on your points and can I ask you to shift gear to listing things you’d like to see and customisations rather than what elves should be doing or have present in their lore.

Feel free to make another topic to discuss these aspects - but this will not help developers looking for feedback from players on what art options their models should contain.

Thanks.

Thank you, it’s great to see that you guys are listening to our suggestions - it makes us feel valued and that you care about us. To some people, customisation means very little because their character is decked out in full gear head-to-toe, so you can’t really see much of their face/features - but - for many of us, the ability to customise our characters how we envision them is paramount, and allows us to express ourselves via our online avatar.

Since WoW came out, MMO’s have changed massively in terms of levels of customisation, and the addition of sliders and the ability to change body shape (height, weight, shape of cheeks, eyes, nose…etc) has given players the immense creative freedom they’ve always craved. Of course, as I mentioned earlier, there are those players who don’t really care for it, and will just pick a ‘default’ option. That’s fine for them; the addition of extra customisation features will not impact them in any way shape or form, but for us who love it, it will make a world of difference.

I know WoW will [probably] never have the option for sliders; it’s not exactly a feature a can see in WoW. But, perhaps, the option to mix and match facial features, e.g. the option to pick my nose, eye shape, eye colour, brows, mouth, ear shape (elves, trolls…etc) would go a loooooong way for some people. It would open up so much in terms of character appearance versatility - just that one change that would allow us to pick and choose our features from the list of already available (and, perhaps, new) options would make, in my opinion, many people happy.

I could go on and rattle off my “wish list” of features (e.g. more race identity within the customisation options) but I’m pretty sure everyone else here has already mentioned everything there is to offer

This is beautiful. I agree.

Also – I would like an options to

  • Change pose of my toon
  • To set a different expression like a snarl, smile, grimace, sad or happy, determined, focused as my characters default.

Yes!

More racial identity is needed, but also race and class identity.
Example:
Blood Elven Mages and Warlocks should meet with Rommath for initiation
Blood Elven Paladins and Priests should meet with Liadrin for initiation
Blood Elven Hunters, Rogues and Warriors should meet with Hauldoran.

Troll beards!

I would like to see a toggle system like the posture one for orcs for Zandalari trolls shoes.
So you could make Zandalari trolls wear shoes. That alone would make me buy SL.

Like many have already suggested, I’d like that all these new customizations are accompained by some lore quests that explain these addictions. I won’t like to play a Dwarf that looks like a Wildhammer but in reality is a Bronzebeard. Or a Troll that looks like a Farraki but in reality is a Darkspear. There should be some quests that give meanings to customizations that touch Lore

Was there ever any explanation about male blood elf facial hair being minimum?

We see Lor’themar having quite a bit of it and I think more options for playable one would be good as well. Void Elf males suddenly have more facial hair as well. I didn’t know the void suddenly made you more hairy

And I think beards and more facial hairstyles is in line with farstrider customization.

It’s because the blood elf male is largely modelled on a Nobility standard mage. Your lordly types are quite well groomed, with small experessions of hair.

Elves are really into their hair, so I would have expected far more interesting hairstyles and beards, like french style moustaches, where the moustaches almost mimick the eyebrows, a little similar to one of the night elf male ones, but much nicer looking and properly done.

Farstrider set of options would include ones for more facial hair, unchaven looks, scars, tattoos, - not human level rough, but a bit dishevelled compare to the usual pristine look.

As much as I’d love more customization options, don’t you think it’s time for another race to get some love? All it’s been for years is elves, elves, elves. For example, even some elves (Night Elves) are hilariously bad.

Oh, and be careful what you wish for. Look at Worgen, and their idiotic “ice skating” animations now…

Oh I hear you, when you really like a race, and don’t semuch happening, it seems unfair that others even with little attention, are getting it when you are not. IF it’s any consolation, NElf fans have felt a lot like that throughout WoW, and the recent activity comes after a 14 year drought, but has not been very good for them either.

So I believe Night elf fans would beg to differ, and in proprotion to their popularity, elves really haven’t gotten that much in game.

Still, the models have so few options, compared to how largely they are played, and themale 6.0 remakes had many issues, like lower texture resoltuions, posture, bad faces, the best 2 faces from classic became ugly.

Also weren’t NElves completely largely neglected, except for Cata where all original races got progression, but Blood elves didn’t.

Legion was the first time Nelves had a major focus in an expansion, tha’ts 14 years after release, and by 7.2 they were history. And sure they appeared again, but to be slaughtered after been conssitently nerfed, finallywe got to visit a few more places, with them, a warfront and the ruins of Zin’Azshari as part of Naz’jatar, that is hardly breaking.

Anyway, I know other races need attention, and I’m sure they’ll get it, but honestly, NElves, especially their male model need need an uplift, I can only imagine if they’d ben well upgraded, we wouldn’t have so many high elf requests. Such is always the case when you make the opposite factions elves, prettier, more successful, having the better forests, better cities, better models, etc, and you don’t sufficiently boost the earlier on - people will want the cooler guy.

Either way, you are right other races need stuff, but so do Elves, they have the biggest following, that alone would warrant a greater effort.

I’m a Belf player myself, but I kinda abandoned her when SMF was ditched. She’s a warrior and 2-handed weapons look absolutely ridiculous. Seriously, with these idiots, the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. It’s pretty much a farce at this point, so I wouldn’t hold your breath, unfortunately.

Honestly? I’d like to see the OG Allied Races get some love. While Highmountain and Void Elves are better off they still have incredibly limited items (5-6 hairstyles, 4-5 skin tones) than the post-Legion ARs.

Lightforged Draenei on the other hand are FAR more hard-off. Possessing at most 4 skin tones (depending on your gender) and about 3 tattoo options, there’s not much there. But even that is more than the Nightborne, who due to how awful most of the male faces look have really only one functional gender. Even then, the females have about 3 workable faces, 3 skintones and a handful of incredibly limited hairstyles (why does my ponytail require some bangle?). These are the ones that desperately need some TLC too.

  • High elves option for Void elves (similar to the orc upright model toggle).
  • Taunka for Tauren.
  • Beefy Amani troll model for trolls.
  • Anything to make the mecha gnomes look less unappealing.

Again, an example of race models being rushed!

For nearly all male character I actually want one more thing: A three-day-beard option. Also give us a few more younger faces. Male humans especially suffer from it after the WoD-rework as all of their faces make them look like 40-50 year old dudes.

I simply want a younger and a bit more rough looking human.

A big yes to that. I saw the racial faces for the human males in wowhead earlier, and the first thing I thought when I saw the black male, I thought, why are they giving us a 50 year old man’s appearance. In other words, not much that actually reflects many of us in our 20s/30s for males.

3-day beard option would be cool on every race or even have a secondary slider that increases the bushiness of the beard, from 3 days to 3 years

Yeah, I think male humans are the worst in that regard. Every, single one of their faces has wrinkles for some reason. And they’re all so round. I want some edge. I want some roughness. Here’s a picture of Arthas from the Warcraft 3 cover in order to show what I mean:

I want this look for male humans. Or gives us something more akin to Turalyon. He already has the three-day-beard ingame and a rougher look!

Allied Race customisation.
Forsaken with upright stances (like upright Orcs)

I would really like to see Calia Menethil type forsaken. Either as a customisation or as an allied race.

I am a bit torn between Lightforged Forsaken adn Vampire forsaken for an allied race. But if you ask me,

  • Lightforged Forsaken should be a customisation
  • Vampire Forsaken should be an allied race.
