They are quitting because of the state of the game and one mount does not change it … so it is presumably for those who still love the game and want to support it for a small reward in form of a mount.
Are you kidding? If it’s 1 year ofc they do it just for that, again it’s the same as before, new patch coming, new allied races, promises of a better game and “free” mount if you buy 1 year of game time. The new patch might actually make the game more fun, but these “promotions” Blizzard is offering doesn’t get my hopes up. Also f store mounts!

If there are people insane enough that they would buy 1 year og game time even though they hate the state of the game, then sorry but it is kind of their fault.
I don’t like store mounts either (Vulpine Familiar is my only weakness), but this one would be unavailable otherwise (available only in China) and people wanted them…
They are just trying to get every little penny they can from a dying game.

The state of the game is bad. even maybe the worst, I have never claimed the opposite, but the store mounts does not affect it!
It really does, Blizzard is losing their fans and bringing more and more store mounts doesn’t do any favors in that front.
Even tho these companies don’t care about their fanbase or customers it doesn’t mean their customers are just going to take it.

You can say that about any other mounts but those promotional ones… it is quite common to see some promotional cosmetics/mounts etc in many games.
Imagine if Blizzard started releasing content in game instead of asking us to cough up more money? This could have been part of the Lunar New Year event, do some stuff, get a mount.
But nah, let’s throw it on the store instead. That’ll get people playing the game again.
Sure, they want to make some profit. Fine, but they should be balancing what they put on the storefront with stuff you can get in game.
The holidays, as mentioned, would be a great place to put new items, get people back playing during events. They barely get updated year after year.

Not many of those other games cost as much as wow does, I’ve paid for vanilla, tbc, wotlk, cata, panda, wod, BFA (yes I skipped legion) and monthly to play the game. Blizzard actually has the nerve to try and get money out of me by locking mounts behind a pay wall.
Just a reminder microtransactions used to be only in free to play games.

Thing is, Blizzard has shot itself on the foot already. This is expected. Now it needs to go full woke, sjw, and all faction leaders female except for Brad Pitt boy-candy to really cause more ire and “publicity.”
I would grind the living hell out of those Lunar Festival coins if I could get that pig by in-game means. I can’t. How does this not affect the game?
Why is there paid content in a subscription based game that has paid expansions? You’re literally getting triple charged if you buy this mount.

Yeah, I completely agree, festivals should have mounts, but you just ignore the fact that some people want this … A reward for purchasing game time and that reward won’t be availalble in Western countries, but they chose compromise and gave us access to the mount via the store. The price for the mounts/pets is way to high though (it should not be higher than month sub)
The cost is another thing but this particular mount should be in the store or should not be available for us at all … your choice

Rather nothing than store mounts, at least then Blizzard could be trusted.
Also I don’t want wow to turn into 2nd Overwatch, where most of the development resources goes to developing new skins.
But why do you care so much if you would rather not have access to this mount at all? (there were region based mounts before and people were not happy about it, so this is a way how to add them)
I don’t like the idea of a store mount or any other in-game purchases, it has no place in wow. I thought I made myself pretty clear with that.

Players would still want some special rewards for their dedication to the game and if it were not mounts it would be something else (cosmetic) and some of them would then demand it to be available by different methods.
It is not ideal, but you can at least buy the store mounts/pets via gold.
I don’t really see how it is a reward if you have to BUY it.
If Blizzard actually wanted to reward us for our dedication the mount would be unlockable with in-game actions.
