I guess everyone saw the first ruleset for Classic HC realms (currently tested on Classic PTR) and amond the last few lines there was the mentioning, that ghosts of characters that died on a HC realm can be transfered to Classic Era, where he/she becomes a normal character again.
I hope Blizzard will consider adding second destination of WotLK Classic (or any expansion after that) of Classic progression realms just like they did in the end of SoM1 for Iron Soul and common characters.
Pros:
Attracting more players to HC realms giving them a better start up
Brining back players who are really done with Classic Era raids, but wanted some alternative to leveling in Wrath or next expansions at least in 1-60 bracket.
Cons:
Classic Era might have less players coming to them with someone lured to play on progression realms instead.
But you can’t use your HC character once it died and became a ghost for anything besides chatting or transfer. In SoM1 you could at least play as softcore character, but even despite that some had chosen not to.
For example I want to level some Horde alts, however I lack the motivation of doing 1-60 without some alternative way to level like I did for Soul of Iron challenge in SoM1. My main focus however is Wrath, Cata and MoP (if the “Classic” project will live for that long). Without transfers to progression realms I might give it a few tries and abandon it all together since I am not interested in Classic Vanilla raiding anymore.
I can and will use it in Era.
When SoM first came out we were promised FCT to Era servers.
People began complaining wanting FCT to Wrath (TBC then) as well
It ended up: Free transfer to almost ALL Wrath servers and 3 (THREE!) Era servers.
I am afridt this happen again oif you ask for transfer to Wrath for dead HC.
Maybe due to the fact that in phase 6 of SoM1 only couple guilds on the biggest realm Drednaught had attending to Naxx runs and almost no Soul of Iron guilds did. Classic Era, on the other hand was in dire state with guilds doing BWL mostly, in the end of TBC on progression realms, due to lack of players. So naturally everyone wanted to participate in the launch of Wrath back then and Blizzard gave them such opportunity.
What I suggest is opening HM as alternative to 1-60 leveling for everyone. You won’t have progression realm people trying it with you if Blizzard keeps only transfers to Classic Era. And what is best time to start HC character than a few months before phase 4 of Wrath? That will keep Wrath players entertained through ToGC content draught and boost HC realms population for even better start up.
I just want free transfer to ALL realms in Era as well as to Wrath. I won’t once again loose chrecters because I not have room on Blizz’s select Era servers.
I don’t hope anybody and thei grandma is going try out HC, unless Blizz open enough servers. The low-level zones will be severely over populated
Oh sry HC it is. So anyway in HC realm low level zones will always be a busy place since everyone will try to skip these ASAP only to be killed somewhere on lvl 10+ because they were careless. So maybe layers should be implemented if player density rises too much with exception for Battle.net friends who should be prioritised being on same layer. However to prevent HC hype dying out Blizzard should offer more destination for player ghosts to transfer for free.
