People always think about things they would add to the game but are there any features you think don’t have any purpose and could be removed? I’ll start:
Heroic Dungeons
They struggled with their purpose in Dragonflight where, when you got to max level, you could simply buy crafted gear on AH and go straight to M+. The difficulty squish in S4 was supposed to make them more relevant which worked, however with the introduction of Delves in TWW, they’ve lost their purpose again.
Additionally, they also face fierce competition from Timewalking dungeons which offer the same ilvl reward and are open to a much larger pool of players = shorter queues.
In my opinion, the game wouldn’t suffer if this difficulty were removed and dungeons had Normal->Mythic->M+ difficulty progression.
Flight Masters
We can fly from the start of the xpac now (which is good) so is there really anyone who uses Flight Masters anymore?
The “swishing air” animation during dynamic flying
It takes up a lot of the screen. Couple times during skyriding races, I’ve experienced a bug where the animation was turned off and, boy, was it much easier to navigate everything
I’d much prefer clearer screen over the immersive animation.
What about you? What would you remove from the game?
Mechagnomes, thank you for listening to my Tedtalk.
Seriously though, I try not to think in a reductive way. I think half of those BGs could just get binned and simply have 20 different maps for WG and AB. So pvp as a game mode gets reshaped around objective type like fps games instead of this weird map centric mode we have now.
That’s a huge tuning related subject that’s quite difficult to deal with in isolation. Because you could extend something similar to raids. Make Normal a tad harder, and make mythic a tad easier, get rid of HC. But then you got to rebalance all the gearing systems etc, bit of a nightmare.
I understand that they feel redundant (I certainly haven’t used one since the inclusion of dynamic flying) but I bet you as soon as you say that, countless people will come out and tell you “no I still use them regularly because I don’t enjoy flying”.
Sure, HC dungeons can go but then I never use them. However, I do use a flight master fairly often. I’d rather they just be teleport points you pay for, though.
You can just turn off the animations for skyriding, I have them all off for nausea purposes.
Yes. I use flightmasters. They are great for when you need to go afk, or need/want to tab out of the game for a bit. + They have nice pathing(view), if you care to look at it.
I hated that in some other game I played. Think it was FFXIV? So not immersive at all. We have the portals for that, but they serve it better because there are much less of them than flightpoints.
The constant teleporting makes worlds not feel like worlds to me. Like every zone I go to have zero to do with the other, and it just takes away that world feel. That’s me though.
Also, I agree that heroic dungeons could go.
Think you can turn that off? I love that animation.
I love dynamic flying, but I still use flightpaths frequently…
Can we just lose some players instead? Namely the ones that take the game too seriously as its them that suck the fun out of everything and force Blizzard to implement all kinds of roadblocks.
But if we’re strictly speaking features, I’d say lose the portal room and make us use portals only when its absolutely necessary. I’d rather we have more immersive ways of quick travel like the zeppelins or boats.
I’d love that, but I do also find the portal room pretty cool. I like Mage lore a lot though, and I’m a druid, so I portal around a lot too. In case you don’t play druid, we have our own private portal room called Dreamwalk.
I would rather prefer them stop making npcs and features useless instead of removing them because it’s slowly turning into a hub-based mmo. yes there are so many useless stuff in the game atm but they can always get repurposed
I do, especially for long distances so I can do something else while getting there.
Definitely especially when you’re gearing up so changing stuff quite a lot. I’ve been known to replace the same item twice in a day and the transmog costs were ridiculous.
As for what I’d like WoW to lose (as well as the high transmog costs) … probably Vulpera. I don’t understand why they were made a playable race in the first place and they seem wrong.
