Feedback about recent changes

Hey Blizzard,

I’m writing this post on behalf of the Retribution Paladin community to express our deep concern and frustration over the upcoming changes announced for Retribution Paladins in TWW. The changes include:

Blessed Champion now deals 25% reduced damage to secondary targets (was 50% reduced damage).
Final Verdict damage reduced by 10%.
Templar’s Verdict damage reduced by 10%.
Justicar’s Vengeance damage reduced by 10%.
Hammer of Wrath damage reduced by 15%.
Blade of Justice damage reduced by 20%. Does not affect Blade of Vengeance.
Blade of Vengeance damage increased by 25%.
Expurgation damage reduced by 10%.
Divine Storm damage increased by 25%.
Templar Strike damage reduced by 10%.
Templar Slash damage reduced by 10%.
Crusading Strikes damage reduced by 10%.
Crusader Strike damage reduced by 10%.
Word of Glory healing increased by 20%.
An issue causing Radiant Glory to not function with fast back-to-back procs has been resolved.

These changes are devastating to us. The blanket 10-20% damage reductions across many of our core abilities are a severe blow to our performance. While we appreciate the 25% increase to Divine Storm and Blade of Vengeance, it does not compensate for the broad and sweeping nerfs to our main abilities.

It feels like Blizzard is abandoning Retribution Paladins. We are already struggling to find our place in both PvE and PvP, and these nerfs will only push us further into the shadows. Retribution Paladins deserve to be competitive and fun to play, not constantly on the receiving end of the nerf hammer.

We urge you to reconsider these changes. The community is ready to riot if this is how Retribution Paladins are going to be treated. Please, listen to your players and give us the attention and balance we deserve.

Sincerely,

A Loyal (but Frustrated) Retribution Paladin

These changes in seem in response to the “infinite wings” bug on beta.

This means when the bug is inevitably fixed, this will be a nightmare for paladins.

It’s very concerning given how fun paladin has been in prepatch, and the prepatch is supposed to show us what classes to choose for the next expansion

However we aren’t mages, so the fun wasn’t going to last…

Never been there. But I feel loyal to the cause, For what you fight for so have a like.

It’s to early to see anything the current moment think its the new talents that will be bit op maybe they nerf due to that.

If paladin under preforms we shall see changes which I hope. Since Its very boring now. When I swapped to paladin they nerf them not small but big.

blizzard has a big vendetta against stuff I play i think.

Youre writing on behalf of yourself, not the community.

Your feedback amounts to ‘number go smaller-BAD!!’

Have you even played it on beta?

Look at this typical panda player, seething and full of hate.

Tell me you haven’t played the beta without telling me you haven’t played the beta.

Your feedback amounts to someone who has read the datasheet for a product but hasn’t used it - more or less useless.

You asume too much, but i guess that’s normal for panda woke players in 2024, on the beta wings are bugged making paladin seem way stronger then it is.

These nerfs show blizzard doesnt play the beta.

How does anything I’ve have anything to do with “woke”. Do you just blart whatever the most recent putdown you’ve learnt without understanding it? Much like your OP. "Waa, numbers go smaller  "

Go back in your cave if you have nothing to add. thanks

Thats seems very weird if they did. They balance other abilities based on a bug on a talent that affects all dmg?

Either way, dmg nerfs/buffs dont bother me much. Lack of talents with meaning do.

Hate that we have so many points to put on talents like “makes X ability add 0.01% extra healing/dmg of a players max health” while we still lack basic stuff (yes mainly for pvp) like slows, roots, debuff, aoe stun, real gap closer etc

Then i see the OP do what he did, topic is dead.

Same to you, all you did was post the patch notes and say down arrows are bad. Hardly objective feedback.

I think I might add this post is actually a point that retribution is nerfed :frowning: man it feels underwhelming.

bro you dont even play ret in end game what do you care

I care quite a lot My dear madam. It will be my go to specc in the next expack and if it sucks it will be very bad, also wish it isn’t so.

Sometimes people care about the health of the game in general.

I have never played druid, it doesn’t stop me from expressing concern if it they start sucking, because perhaps one of my friends or guildies might play druid, for example.

Concern, where legitimate is a useful measure of how the community is reacting the proposals by Blizzard. If lots of people see them as bad changes, then it helps get them reverted, or improved.

That’s the main issue with the game, people who don’t even play it complain about things they know nothing about.

if you don’t play a class how can you know if a change is bad or not? You heard someone who does play the class mention it and now regurgitate it like you formed an opinion of your own… It’s weird.

I played paladin long before I played hunter, however my hunter was DF main which is why it’s my character of choice for the forums.

I have been enjoying retribution as an alt through the expansion, and in pre-patch I have played a lot of ret because I’ve found it great fun. I am worried having read the ret discord and seeing videos of the beta, for the future of the spec however, in TWW, frustrating as following what has happened to BM, I would likely be maining ret in TWW.

Like you in this thread…

Do you have any data to show that this tweak isn’t warranted?

I’ve mained paladin for years but not in shadowlands and dragonflight. But picking it up now again Since i like the new Ending talent [Radiant Glory] which let your wake of ashes turn your wings on it feels more like BFA play style with perma wings which i enjoyed. Hope they bring that to Prot paladin too soon eye of tyr could’ve activated it.

Feeling depressed and deflated about the changes coming to ret. I have mained it since Wrath through the few highs and many lows, and just when I thought they finally got it right with ret in dragonflight, my hope has been shattered with the big nerf hammer. As a solo player I need my class to bring something to the table to be able to get picked for M+ and raids. My excitement for TWW has vanished and have just cancelled my pre order. I feel like spending the few hours I get to play each day searching for a group but getting turned down for lack of utility and being low on the dps tier list isnt what I would call fun. I may pick it up in 11.1 if they U-turn these changes. I hope everyone else has fun as this is a game and community I truly love. WoW saved my life many times so I want it to thrive as long as possible
