Just making this topic as it’s much needed with the fact I’m getting locked out of M+ Keys left right and centre, through players going AFK mid fight or alternatively a Healer abruptly leaving because of a single wipe half way through a key.
I’m probably going to catch heat for posting this but as stated at the beginning it’s a much needed discussion, you’re probably going to say:
But Rivía what about the players that DC?
Well, a disclaimer should be put up before entering a key prompting players to ensure they have a stable connection before entering the instance, unlike a heroic a M+ key is something like a 24 hour lock that impacts a players abilitiy to progress especially if it’s a reoccuring problem accross multiple instances.
League have something similar implemented to prevent disruption and stop high abandonment rates amongst players which can ruin a beginners experience and it works. In the case of wow, experience of M+ so why dosen’t Blizzard do something similar?
It dosen’t have to be an instant penalty but say 3/4 periods of abandonment in relation to a key would prompt something like a CD period before you can re-enter a M+ dungeon. If a player continue to have repetitive CD’s then there account would be flagged to Blizzard for disruption.
This is something that myself and many others wish to have added into WoW, that a harsher punishment system be added to key runs, compared to your typical 30-minute deserter debuff.
People who quit a run because they won’t get a rating increase due to a wipe or whatever the reason may be, needs to be hit.
The punishment needs to be Account wide, so they can’t just log onto an alt and do key runs there, until the punishment wears off. It should also be stacking debuff, which is tracked over 24 hours before that “cooldown” is reset.
First time: 1 hour
Second time: 3 hours
Third time: 6 hours
Fourth time: 12 hours
People want to play silly games, then they should expect to win silly prizes.
There does need to be something in place to avoid people being held hostage or something. Because we all know what the community in WoW is like.
I’ve left a few key runs and not from a single wipe though. I normally give the groups I join around 3 to 4 wipes on the 1st boss. If they can’t get passed the first boss, then I leave.
Yes, finish the key I’ve sat through continious wipes as a tank through DPS failing to kick and not target switching as part of a boss mechanic or instances where i’m out healing a healer in relation to myself as a Prot Warrior. I don’t just leave, if i do I’m locked out until the next day and so are the rest of the players in the party, with no loot and nothing to show for it.
As a sidenote, players asked for a harsher penalty system for PVP and that is what they got. As a result, even a minor DC or other “excuses” gets penalised for -200 and the forums gets filled daily with people demanding Blizzard to give back their ratings.
I’m really not hopeful for an M+ penalty system as that can make things, much much signficantly worse.
Exactly, my thoughts are if people want to create a toxic enviroment because let’s face it, we’ve all ran a M+ had a crap pull, probably had a ton of verbal abuse then that person has abruptly left, to somebody who’s new to keys, that’s gonna be their first impression which it shouldn’t be.
The idea is to squish that, prevent the overall disruption and hold somebody accountable for their actions perticularly those that have the intention to regularly abandon when something dosen’t go their way, it should encourage team work amongst the player base, be a possitive and learning experience for those who are new whilst probably making new teams/meeting people that you know you can regularly do keys with.
Okay firstly a correction; M+ isn’t 24 hour lockout only M0 is. you can run back to back to back of a M+ dungeon to get an item (and I did so)
As for your main point. though a pentality would be okay. I dont think it would stop people leaving even in the way suggested where they lose M+ rating. One cleared M+ gives you the rating based on time remaining and level of the key, so even if your ranking on a dungeon reduced if you quit it, when you get a group that one shots it your back to where you was.
In this case a better thing to do would treat the cause of people leaving rather than the symtom. So you need to ask “Why DO people quit M+ midway rather than sticking it out.” and address that/those issue/issues.
The players that they get into the group with is 99% of the reason.
You get people who don’t pay attention and cause a wipe. Sometime do leave instantly on the first wipe, as they see that as an instant failure.
There isn’t much that Blizzard can do to address this problem, as you unfortunately can’t fix players who just play poorly. It’s why they gave them LFR, welfare epics, Delves etc.
I feel that there does need to be some challenge mode system added before you can unlock M+ key runs. If you can’t get out of AoE, if you can’t use your CCs etc, then the challenge mode fails.
I agree it would be nice to find the root cause of the problem, but I think if we had a punishment/penality system for M+, you would see a tiny decrease in this behaviour, but it would never be stopped.
Also it’s time to get Dejarous finally added to the forum ignore system.
