The Personal Resource Display has been reworked into a static frame and I imagine reworks will be done to it to add functionality lost with the restrictions to addons like WeakAuras.
However, I grieve the loss of all the functionality related to the fact that it was anchored to player. It opened the door to having all of the information one would put on a player unit frame on a frame that dynamically follows the player, it made for a more responsive UI cosmetically and was what I build my entire UI on since BFA. I’d really love seeing it return, be it through a toggle for the PRD or just a new generic nameplate for the player.
The game would lose a lot of flavor for me if it were to stay gone. I don’t see any egregious risk for abuse either considering the restrictions on friendly nameplates.
