I like to point out my oppinion on the leveling in WoW-Forever.
I think it is a little faster compared to classic. Killing exp for mobs is same and i think quest are also kinda the same exp.
But why does it feel still a little faster?
First of all the obvious one. The Bufffood. It buffs u for some stats (Stamina mostly) and give u a 5% bonus on exp when killing mobs. I think, maybe we should get rid of the exp bonus. Or make it avaible in the legacy skilltree so u can unlock it for alts for example, but i think it shouldn’t be baseline.
The other and more impactfull influence on the exp gain are the new quests was added to the zones. More quests, means less downtime from running or any idle time. More quest also mean u can do more quest at once which also saves times to get exp and makes leveling faster for sure. And even the startetzones have a good among of new quests already. That leads to a pace where u most likely gonna outlevel zones in the higher levels and could potencially destroy the exploring experience.
I would suggest to think about a nerf to quest exp or maybe to increase the exp u need for levels.
Since the game should be more about leveling and exploring the world and doing quest, and elite quest with friends/groups and so on. I think the new added quests could destroy this experience or at least have a negative influence on that.
That’s my personal oppinion on it, but so far i like how the gameplay is also the new design with the profession there is a lot stuff i am curious about to explore. But i like a little slower progression in leveling.
Edit: I ended teldrassil on Level 13, if i go a dungeon now in Ironforge, i probably hit lv 14 and didnt even start any second zone (Westfall, Loch Modan or Darkshire). In old Classic u always entered the second zone on lv 10,11 or at most lv 12. There is a 2 level difference already and i think most of the early quest in these zones are green already and i pretty sure this will snowball on the higher levels. But there, u may have some option cause u can “skip” zones then, but i dont think that’s what was intended to do.
It could be maybe for the beta for class testing (as the beta is pretty short in time and co).
Personally I think leveling a character fully should take 2 weeks of average playing time (say, 3h a day). So in total it should take ca. 42 hours to level a character fully.
That would be imo the right pace from 1-60.
The reason I name this specific timeframe of 42 hourse â 3 hours a day is because that’s the sweet spot of reasonable grind for working adults with family obligations.
Xaryu the streamer tested this a bit, his mage lvl 14 had the sampe played (9h) as on classic realms not really faster.. my experience is the same. If you dont rush andplay like you always do its not that much faster. I guess it comes down how you play and maximise as well
I would say that is way too fast.
1-60 on Forever, considering there will be no further level increases, should take at least a month of adventuring. Increased by legacy perks if be.
I think some classes are gonna feel a boom in XP rates due to how they are now tuned with better abilities early then before like pally etc, I dont see a massive issue with this also I did 2 lvl 15 quests in org today as a lvl 6 which gave a massive chunk of XP, giving some kid lunch and picking up some rocks.
Can understand the part of making it a talent, but at the same time it’s a rather small gain compared to other things mentioned here. It’s also a good incentive for players, especially brand new ones to actually use food buffs if you have it available.
Disagree. One of the issues with vanilla/classic is that some zones have a questing flow that is very inconsistent.
It can be either (or both):
A zone gives plenty of quests at around the minimum recommended level and plenty of quests at around the maximum recommended level, but very little inbetween
A zone doesn’t give enough quests from around minimum recommended level (or a level or two above it) until the maximum recommended level, forcing the player to seek other zones of similar level recommendations to catch up.
Now, this doesn’t have to be a bad thing, especially until you get close to level 30 or so. Exploration is good. However there are zones in different recommendation brackets that are very different in which one zone has tons of quests to keep you busy while another zone feels like it has maybe half the amount of quests, despite both zones feeling about the same size.
However back in the very old days, if you didn’t grind or do any dungeons nor queued up alot of rested experience (such as playing alot in a short time), then it could sometimes lead to players at the end 30’s or mid 40’s hitting a spot where they have almost only quests that are marked “orange” or “red” (as in abit higher to alot higher level recommendation than current level) which is unhealthy. Grinding should never be incentivized by the game to keep up. That issue was even pointed out indirectly by them adding new zones like the Riverglades and Shen’Dralas which is around the mid 30’s to mid 40’s. They also said that new zones and quests will be added over time, both for leveling and for max level.
They stated at BlizzCon panels and/or Q&A before beta launch that they added over 1000 new quests. They also mentioned that it’s important for them that also returning players feel like when leveling in familar zones they have done countless amount of times before that there is something new there that wasn’t there before, so the leveling experience feels both like the old times and also refreshing. They also said that while you maybe did one level route on one character, you can perhaps plan for a different level route on a future alt.
I don’t want to be the guy to say “then Classic Era is more for you”, but there is a reason they don’t have Classic in the name of this new version of WoW.
You mention the possible ability to “skip” zones if you do every quest in a zone before moving on. You also have the choice to “skip” doing all quests in a zone before moving on so you maybe don’t have that snowball effect.
After playing a bit further my oppinion did a change a bit.
Probably es someone mention it can work out perfectly like it is and u dont have to hop zones to progress in exp and u do one zone after another.
I mean i was worried about that u gonna end up with green quests only on the later part, but maybe thats not the case. Back then u always had to go into 2 zones and hope from one to another back and forth for exp progression. Like Westfall and Loch Modan and Darkshire u pretty much had to hop back and forth between 2 out of these 3.
And it looks like u dont have to do that anymore and only doing one of these zones is enough to give u the level u need to be rdy for the next.
