Finding AD very unfriendly to newcomers

First of all, welcome to AD, the best server in Wow, second, don’t let them ney sayers stop you from enjoying rp, you will find plenty nice folk willing to rp with you.

Oh the amount of times I abused that TRP scanner to stalk… Aherm find RP!
And imo, TRP Extended where you can create custom items and armour for your character makes it a super addition to the RP scene. And it saddens me sometimes how little it is used.
It is the to go to thing since the vanishing of Gryphonheart Items

Oh, wow  Thank you for all the incredible responses, I’m at work currently but will come back and try to reply/ask questions later tonight

Thanks again

Sorry to hear about your experience. I try to be open and kind on both Alliance and Horde when come new people. I suggest to avoid the bigger ‘hubs’.

And yet the bigger hub is where I first started my rp-adventures. I remember it well. It was in … I almost dare not say it… Cathedral Square.

Does it work again…? For some time they deactivated it.

if i recall correctly it broke at 8.0 launch but has since long been fixed.

I had a weird experience of someone using Check PvP to find my main and use the fact she was on a former big pvp realm to say I’m gonna try to grief

And this is why Check PVP shouldn’t be a thing! Sadly you’ll find that some of the people around AD aren’t all that welcoming unless you’re part of their clique, it’s something that’s a little more common on the Horde than the Alliance thanks to the guild oriented focus on RP there.

Still though, don’t give up hope! A few tips I can give you: avoid Orgrimmar like the plague. Like Stormwind, you’ll find that it does little else but serve as a recruiting ground for those guilds who aren’t as fond of random, open RP as others and who may well use the Check PvP function.

Silvermoon and Dazar’alor are both very good places to find RP, and with the Horde you’ll never know who you’ll find in-world. As for guilds to look into, I very heavily reccomend the Frozen Paw Clan, a finer and friendlier bunch of roleplayers you’ll be hard pressed to find. Also, do feel free to look into more of the Vulpera guilds around the Horde if you’re going to be maining one, I myself can reccomend a smaller, newer guild with a caravan focus called the Wandersong Caravan. If you’re looking for something small and friendly, that may be for you, and I wish you the best of luck!

Opened thread cause of $h!+post fears, opened to find mostly wholesome AD Help. V-noice.

@OP Defo keep up at it. Having come over from the US servers, it took me a bit to find a few people to RP with, and that eventually lead to exploring other guilds and wider communities. For now, focus on finding a few regulars to RP with (and I promise there are some around!), and then look at stepping into Guilds as your character feels right.

If you feel you’re having difficulties, defo try the Roaming Hub or other community-based social events like the Lunar Festival on the 31st! A lot of events can be found by browsing the Argent Archives community site! (Google is your friend)

I can confirm that the TRP scanner works again. I like it in principle but in practice it’s a way for people to stalk and harass those they may not take a liking to, like the unsavory individual who used Check PvP to toss a baseless accusation the OP’s way!

Works perfectly for me! :o

thank you for those nice words about Vulpera,
Hopefully we can meet InCharacter sometime  right now the Dust Scavenger are in Orgrimmar and always open for RP  that goes for everyone and yes the OP too.

feel free to come back with any questions  we are always there to help

I’d suggest you keep going, despite the elitism you’ll undoubtedly run into in any hub or community and though I haven’t interacted a great deal if at all, despite my many years on this server i’ll suggest you approach the Roaming Hub, the PCU, the Dust Scavengers and any other guild or community that have been mentioned or will be mentioned and make up your own mind instead of adhereing to others

AD can’t afford it.

I wish you good fortunes in your search and future sessions.

The things I have mentioned are facts, not opinions – the head of the Roaming Hub is covering for role play griefers and ERP so I will do my community duty and warn new players about that thanks

But I agree on this part, the things I mentioned AD truly can’t afford to have

AD (or certain parts of it) can certainly afford to kick players who create hidden alts with funny names / TRP profiles doing OOC attacks on people they don’t like + turning up to people’s events with an intention to disrupt. I think it costs nothing to teach guild members very very basic / fundamental rules like “don’t grief roleplay, even if you don’t like the person doing it OOC”

If you consider that elitism, well …

As I wrote, I’ve had very little personal interaction with any of the mentioned communites or guilds to have an opinion on them and wont adhere to others opinions and stated facts about eachother, and suggested the same to the OP.

I will make up my own mind and so should the OP.

Think a big part of AD also feeling very unfriendly to newcomers is if they join the “wrong” community in some peoples eyes, these people instantly become hostile. Feeling a need to tell you that they are going to ignore you and how you should feel ashamed of yourself.
Imagine feeling the need to put someone on ignore or call them a horrible person because they are wearing a guild tag you do not approve of.

Think yesterday in Orgrimmar paints a good picture of this, some rper talking ooc in /say about an RP community (PCU obviously) in the middle of roleplay. And no it was not nice what they said.

Another just going about with in their TRP “Ignores PCU!” as well as plenty of OOC emotes.

And a last one just doing /yell for all PCU people to make themselves known so he can ignore them.

You will probably notice a thing about these 3 fresh examples, they are filling the RP chat with their OOC negativity that they did absolutely not have to put there. Does not at all paint a welcoming sight for newcomers, don’t matter if they are part of the PCU or not to get that impression i think.
