Fire resistance cap bugged?

Hey everyone,

I’m our guild main tank, and have gathered alot of fire resistance gear in order to tank rag properly. I have noticed something weird though.

My Fire ress unbuffed is 218.
On the start of the fight i will use:

  1. Heart of the scale (20 ress)
  2. Gift of the wild (20 ress)
  3. Fire prot Aura (60 ress)
  4. Magic protection potion (50 ress)

This comes down to 368 fire ressistance.

During the fight my portrait will show a max of 278 fire resistance, without buffs being removed from me.

Can anyone explain whats happening? Is there some weird cap I dont know about, or certain things not stacking properly?

edit: I know the potrait number seems to be right. I still get hit by Wrath of Ragnaros 70% of the time… So while mathematically it should be 368, its only 278.

I believe some of the buffs don’t stack, so the biggest one overrides the other one. I believe this is true for the paladin buff and potions.

We are on the same problem atm.

So basically, for instance:
Aura (60) + Gift of the wild (20) = 60 ?

Those 2 stack Outblast, just like FR totem and GOTW.
The magic resist potion get’s overwritten by the Aura/Totem tho!

hmm ok, and i guess the trinket (+20) gets overwritten too then.

But wait, this still means something is wrong. if aura and GOTW stack, i shouldnt be at 278, but i should be at 298…

“Magic Protection Potion” doesn’t stack with “Fire Prot Aura”. Looks like “Heart of the scale” and “gift of the wild” doesn’t stack with “Fire Prot Aura”.

Usually you can use only 1 buff that increase a stat. Like stamina scrolls and priest stamina buff.

You may consider using Flask of Chromatic Resistance and Juju Ember. The former adds 25 to all resistances for 2 hours, the latter adds 15 FR for 10 minutes; and both stack with FR aura.

I have 211 FR unbuffed. With FR aura and these two buffs, I hit 311 FR.
