First week of M+

So I gave in and went in to M+ content to get some better gear as I’ve been sitting at 613 for weeks.

I focused on +5 and +6 keys and only a few dungeons as I was learning. Some keys failed, some experience was decent and there was only one occasion where the group was toxic. So al-in-all, not terrible but more stressful that I typically like to play.

However, and I’m not expecting miracles here, but after the first week I am stil ilvl 613. I completed between 4-7 runs, I didn’t count but I’d say it was likely 6 or 7 successful runs. I got one piece of usable loot and that was only because someone traded it to me. My vault then gave me the option of 2 pieces, neither of which were useful.

So, I think to myself how would I feel if I do that content again, which I don’t particularly enjoy and I get the same results. My secondary goal is to get to ilvl 619 either through Champion gear or Hero gear as that will help with my primary goal of defeating Zek’vir ??, which I can get to below 50% but am thinking the increase to ilvl will help me even more.

So, I don’t know what to do, shall I give up on my goals and just live with it or do I keep doing content that I don’t particularly enjoy and pray to the RNG God.

First thought is go play other games as this the most miserable, stressful and unfun mythic + season so far (for pugging).

Second thought is if you try and not care, and not really try with the objective of pushing you might be able to get through it. But even upgrading a key doesn’t feel fun right now.

P.S it might be more fun as a dps (if you can get into groups, or get people to join your key)

3rd week for my main an not an upgrade (Gold token are Op _)

At least we have classic anniversary and since i missed the 2019 re-release is a good way to experience something nice.

More bearable… fun though? Nah… 2/3 of the keys are either untimed or get abandoned midrun, fun is something else.

Welcome to m+ dear delver. If you want to improve your gear, you will want to do +8s next to receive Gilded Crests. You can use those to craft 636 gear with your ideal secondary stats. You don’t need anything else and you are free from RNG forever.

You won’t be ready for +8s of course, but that’s where you have to go next for significant upgrades. Try to read up in the dungeon journal about boss mechanics that will kill your entire group if you don’t play them correctly. The other mechanics you will learn in time.

7 runs is nothing.

Take in mind that M+ is a system designed to keep people busy for 4 or 5 months. And the way to gear up in M+ is with consistency.

So doing 1 or 2 dungeons every day. That is how its done. And you are 12 weeks late to the party. :frowning:

I would suggest focusing away from gear as a goal, for your sanity.
Just do the content you enjoy and set goals you can have better control over.
If m+ got you a bit excited, just focus on learning the ropes of it and see it as an investment. The gear will come naturally when you get better at it.
But if you don’t like it just don’t do it.
If your primary goal is beating zekvir focus on improving your gameplay there as your ilvl is already enough.

Welcome to the game. If you want your M+ runs to be about loot you need to push your own keys and invite everyone in the same armor category as you are. The dungeon will always drop items for someone so don’t be afraid to ask if they need it, it’s tradeable.

Also if you are just about gear upgrades, by now, with this ID, they lifted all the crests cap, so you can farm and exchange everything up to gilded indefinitely, and craft your 636 spark gear very quickly.

If you do not do any other than low-tier content you can also consider taking your 6 coins from weekly vault instead of loot and exchange it for half-spark at the vendor beside it each week, to speed up your gearing process.

Zekvir is a mechanics fight. If you can kill the eggs you have enough damage, now you need to work on staying alive / consistency.

If you dont enjoy the gearing journey (m+) then dont do it and just practice zek.

Also, cant you do some delves to get runed crests and therefore make 619 gear?

M+ was never really about gearing at some point. So if you dont enjoy it, just dont do it and find other things you enjoy in the game.

Where did you get this data from?

You could also go to your renown vendors, grab the heroic crafting crest and craft 619s (rank 5). You have 3 reputations at max which means 3 heroic crests by default. Potentially even your Severed Threads is maxed since the Renown rep is kinda “buggy” since the anniversary buff and you could be ahead.

Then there is also the heroic craft crest from Queen Story Mode (quests starts after you finished the campaign outside of the building that leads to Dagran. Its a little spider that starts the chain). So that fixes pretty much all your non 619s.

After that grab pieces that you can use in the catalyst via the vault (or even just flat ilvl because ilvl is thee only thing pugs care about). If you’re at 619 and completely on your own you should maybe be able to get into +8s even if they are just dawnbreakers.

Maybe even in Mythic Raid pugs (you can NOT join other groups once you’re in there and have either killed a boss or accepted a lockout of a grp that already had killed a boss (if you get such a warning just go out. Its not worth it even if you say you don’t need boss X since boss X will still yield crests and has a higher chance of a grp forming and doing the easy bosses than join a run in progress with wipes) although that may be a challenge due to ilvl.

If you have friends get your weekly 10 done because of the Mythic Track piece that will most likely always be a gain for you even if its just because of stamina and agility.

What do you think? I was talking about my fun (or rather lack of it) in the game, after all.

It depend on what keylevel, but up to +7 or something i have a 90% timed-rate and 100% finish rate. 8-10 it gets harder where there are some trainwreck runs, but still ~75% is getting timed.

What does your fun have to do with and i quote you:

“Nah… 2/3 of the keys are either untimed or get abandoned midrun.”
In my experience, sure it does happen occasionally the group to disband or not to time the key but (i am doing only 10’s), groups that are doing 10’s and above are pretty decent players.
At least that’s my personal opinion and it’s what i experienced. Take care!

I don’t think ppl starting with M+ or transitioning there are doing 10+… I do max +8 because I see no sense in going higher, loot isn’t getting better - and keys between 4 and 8 are definitely horrible to play atm in pugs, which I do exclusively.

Why are they horrible to play with pugs? By far the most of the runs (like 80+%) is just a cakewalk and upgraded with +2.

+10 does give better loot, but only weekly. Hero->myth track is a very big upgrade.

Loot is getting better only in your weekly vault. Hero/Myth (626/639) track gear has huge difference. The only reason i am doing 10’s it’s because i am fishing for that 639 weapon. So far it eludes me!

Stop doing M+ if your main goal is gear and doesn’t enjoy the content itself.

Games are for fun, not for self torture.
