Fishing in AV

Is fishing in AV against the ToS?

Who would put a pond you are forbidden to fish in ?

My own thought, but someone in my BG told me it was bannable.

Depends on how it’s looked upon.

I personally hate people who fish in AV.
I do believe it ‘disrupts the Game experiences of others’
The fish you catch in AV is no different than the fish caught in PvE zones, that said, it’s no different than having an afker or leecher imo, and leeching is exactly what you’re doing.

Thats pond is not to fish it is there to drawn fishers while 79 other players in Bg, horde and alliance reporting him for being ultimate piece of sht and make 1 min peace agreement while performin extremly rude emotes over his dead body and his pathetic personality

There is areas where there is nothing to fish in.
If you can fish something in it, it’s intended.

The answer is yes and no

AV was not designed to be an end to end Zerg that lasts about 10 minutes

It isn’t really a PvP instance - it’s a PvE event with PvP content with many different quests and objectives within it

A battle could last for many days as folk did their quests - fished - hung out etc.

And then folk worked out how to get the most honour in the minimum time to gain the greatest reward - ranks and gear - especially ranked gear

And the event changed shape

In reality if you go fishing in Classic AV you are AFK for the purpose of the instance you queues for in the opinion on 99.9% of those in there

And multiple AFK reports will get you booted from the instance and potentially a game ban

So the ponds are a throw back to early Vanilla

As has very rightly been pointed out - there are no special fish in there you can’t catch elsewhere

My suggestion - if you want to fish AV isn’t where you should be doing it

the only time i ever fish in av is when a game is so lost you literally have 0% win chance, or when ur winning so hard the other team are like bots and they have a 0% win chance

And even that isn’t really a good excuse to the 99.9%

Because you are getting honour to participate in what they see as a PvP event not a fishing tournament

And even in a losing game there is extra honour to pick up if you leave the rod at home and put in some effort

Again - it’s a choice - but AFK reporting is carried out by your peers - not Blizz GMs - the players are the referees

You don’t get involved at great personal risk regarding loss of all honour - being booted - and loss of ranking - a ban

Fishing in AV is not against ToS if you do it in non-repetitive way (a.k.a exceptional). Otherwise, it’s a disruptive gameplay that can lead to a ban.

If you are fishing in lot of AV, mass report from lot of players from different game will trigger a GM warning. They will inspect your activity in AV, and if they see you are doing nothing in AV in a repetitive-way (and fishing is doing nothing, AV is a battleground to fight not to farm), it’s a ban. 7 days.

So it’s about the common sense, if you saw any players that complain about that in your AV, stop fishing, and go into the battle. Don’t do that every single AV because there’s players that will report you.

Well the thing is that when these scenarios happen, more so often the loss one, everyone in chat has given up and are calling to let x faction win to go next game etc.

there’s like one guy saying we can still win!!! and everyone elses morale is broken etc.

We’re not talking about a normal loss here. we’re talking the horde are all high warlords and the alliance are all green lvl 55 corporals type deal.

I am not in any way judging your actions - what you do in AV is your own affair

But if you were really there for honour - go kill an extra player - or at least try

And that’s the view of a lot of players in there - they see you fishing as an insult to their effort

I don’t PvP any more - I just don’t find it enjoyable - I can do it - and a well geared lock is - believe me - pure poison - but I save it for folk being obnoxious in PvP when I am farming in a PvE realm

But for perspective - I find it pretty insulting when folk turn up for a raid with no pots - because you clearly need them - and without them you are expecting those who come prepared and having put effort in to carry you

That’s fishing in AV - it’s rude

I guess you haven’t been in many of THOSE avs.

lets just say you’ve killed every player 10 times already and you don’t get any more honor from kills.

One somebody tags a mob in front of me, kills me in the open world, leaves the group so we need to find another is all disruptive to me as well. That should not be a reason.

It is just stupid to put a fishing spot in AV and then whine about fishing in AV

And its not. The EULA talks about what is unreasonable.

You can fish, but don’t make a thread saying ‘Random 7 day ban’, when everyone reports you for being a sponge :joy:

Imo, and a lot of people won’t agree, you should be able to do whatever you want in AV except AFK. Farm rams, fish, make a campfire and chat etc etc.

I think the obligation to maximize other peoples success in honor gain is a misplaced concept in a BG like AV. WSG and later AB premades remove accountability of random players, so there is an option anyway.

Ultimately, making AV the prefered BG to rank up was a huge mistake considering the PvE, questing and “open zone” aspects in it.
