I am getting to the point where I feel like uninstalling the game I am THAT sick of killing a thousand mobs to complete a quest.
It seems like almost every quest I have to compete with half the server to try and tag a mob the second it spawns, only to have it NOT drop a quest item, along with everyone else.
Just increase the drop rate of quest items ffs, after a hard days work I want to ENJOY my WoW time, it really doesn’t need to be so stressful

Can you be more specific which quest item you’re talking about? What i’ve seen they have buffed most drop rates to the point it’s not even funny anymore. At the beginning of Classic i thought the rates were about right (sometimes even frustratingly low) but towards the end you seem to get the quest drops from the first or second mob quite consistently. This week i started to suspect they have also buffed the drop rates for greens.
I can feel your pain when you kill dozens and dozens of mobs and the item just won’t drop. There are still some quests that can make you crazy if the odds are not in your favor (Sida’s Bag, Smithing Tuyere and Lookout’s Spyglass, i’m looking at you). But it would be even worse if every quest item had a drop rate of 100% like in most of the Retail’s quests. Most boring and unrewarding gaming experience ever.
I just watch how much XP i am getting from killing mobs when items not droping. 5,10, 15% of lvl by killing mobs make quest more manageable mentally.
Welcome to the wonderful world of headless raptors and hoofless zebras
Damn Zombie-Animals are freaking me out big time
Also heartless Dragons. Remember the black dragons in the Badlands? Like 100 welplings had to die for ONE heart.
Bro. Classic is not about completing quests but about mob exp. Quests are just there as an excuse for you to kill mobs. This is a grinding game. The only time you will have fun while leveling is when typing in guild chat, creating groups for dungeons or doing a hard quest together with some dudes you just met. Or Watching a tvshow/stream while leveling, oh i forgot, killing low level gnomes, this one brings the most joy.
Aren’t all gnomes “low level”?
Because, ya know…they are not that high…
…
Thank you, Thank you! You are a wonderful audience!
I’ll find the exit myself…
This is WoW Classic. Drop rates are low, you have to work for your rewards.
Retail has guaranteed drop rates, ultra-fast levelling and sounds like it would be perfect for you.
more of the #somechanges crowd
Any pristine yeti horns in the chat?
If you think about it as just getting more xp it’s really not that bad in my opinion.
On my first character in classic during launch week I had killed easily over 100 oozes in the wetlands for the bag but on my second character it dropped roughly in the first 15 so quite a drastic contrast and honestly I was quite dissappointed that it dropped so soon because extra xp is always welcome to me.
no, because the grinded xp is good for levelling not like in retail where each mob killed gives 1 xp and is worthless compared to quest hand in xp
Say a quest gives 5k xp, the mobs gives like 300xp
get 10 items after like 30 mob kills?
That 1 quest sesh has given 14,000xp
This exactly. I have always liked drop quests. They may take time but I get XP and occasionally some good loot.
Make more servers so that we can have a Vanilla like population. I’m SO looking forward to TBCC launch. Vanilla, finally
My world! LOVE it!
If anything it just breaks up the grind, if quest items drop a lot more you end up needed to mob grind larger chunks at once assuming you aren’t dungeon spamming.
This is why I spam dungeons to level 60 OP.
Quests get tedious and boring with crap drop rates added into the mix.
Levelled my 60 Holy Paladin from 20-60 healing dungeons, only quests I ever touched were attunement quests.
Currently levelling my restoration druid 20-60 via dungeons.
Different experience each time with different people, fun.
The best part is by level 60 I’ve spammed dungeons so much I am an absolute God when it comes to playing my class.
If they up’ed the drop rate, I don’t think I’d level up decent enough.
Majority of my levels have come from grinding xp from killing adds needed for gathering quest.
