For those on the fence on playing or not

I was not sure if i wanted to play or not, but being a wow player since it game out i guess it was just going to happen anyway, so i caved in pretty fast.
This is just a oppinion from a very average wow player that is grown up with kids now and do not play the game like a religion anymore. How probably how most are playing nowadays.
The game feels very much the same like shadowlands, run from quest to quest, kill 15 of that and 8 of that. Fill that bar and kill that rare etcetc. Questing in dragonflight is just more of the same… Just boring in my oppinion.
The landsscape looks amazing, like really awesome. Picking flowers or some quest just makes you feel like you are there youself. Hearing bees buzzing around running around in the grass.
The dragonflying itself is very fun and i enjoy trying to gold every flights. And to be honest thats the only reason i want to play now. The renown system is… whatever. So far it seems it mostly for cosmetic stuff. And some crafting things are locked behind renown levels. The craft system feels a bit overwhelming if you are like me and have not hardcore played wow the last exps.
I play bm hunter and it feels boring. At least at my lvl 65 every spell feels like whackamole. Note i say feel because i understand threre are suppose to be syngerergies from 1 spell to the next but i just dont care. Boring talent tree but im gonna try out mm soonish, hope that feels more impactful.
Did 1 dungeon and it felt ok. just step out of circles on the ground and you are fine. Think i will enjoy m+ for a little bit when it comes.
All in all I think people will enjoy the expansion for what it is, if you take your time with it.

Agree & World Quests need to be gone from the Game. It was worked on during covid19 so for me with a Storyline that I have no interest in its a NO for now.

Thats because hunter is boring :stuck_out_tongue:

tbf dragonflight might be my worst leveling experience since cataclysm

Questing is still the worst about this game. Nothing sucks more then delivering a quest only to see 2-3 more pop up from the same npc.

You claim to be a WoW fan since it came out but relate this kind of quests to Shadowlands? Irritating…

Yes it very much feels like shadowlands questing. You run from place to place killing xx of that and sometimes finding the bar that have to be filled to 100%. Tell me how you think this is NOT related? Yes obviously its not the same quests but the skeleton frame is the same.

Really? I love that. One small thing done for the npc and they trust you so give you more things to do to help them.

You probably didn’t get my point… the quest character you described is basically there since classic times. So it’s not really specific for Shadowlands. If you only recognised in SL that killing x mobs and running from A to B is the essence of WoW questing, then I seriously wonder what you were doing during the other seven expansions.

Also, I’m surely not popular for blowing sugar up Blizzard’s derriere but one has to appreciate quests like the caravan travelling with the centaurs in Ohn’ahran Plains, ritual and prep quests where you interact with objects and the sonic-like catch-a-dragon-glyph-coin run. Also very glad they added the most legendary arena quest back into the game.

Expansion definitely feels more like WoW again compared to SL. And I’m actually glad that side quests got a bit shortened and occasional quest item loots are now basically auto-hand-ins.

They really should work on some issues with quest points shown in map though. Especially that part dungeon part world quest for the Nohkud attack, where you have to place bow and spear in one of the Southern hill graves is absolutely misleading people since the quest points vanish when you leave the dungeon and direct you back into it although the quest finishes in the open world environment.

Overall, new exp. feels way more comfy than expected. The new UI however… does not.

Was it ever any different though? Suppose if you don’t like questing in general it’ll never be amazing anyway.

World Quests have been greatly reduced as I discovered much to my disgust yesterday. I really enjoyed doing WQ’s on the daily. But now they reset every few days, rather than hours.

I don’t agree that DF feels anything like Shadowlands from a questing point of view. Shadowlands questing was simply horrible.

But if you’re talking about the quests and the design of the quests themselves, I’m afraid to say that kill 15 of this, pick these, fill the bar, is simply something that will never change about this game.

I watched a interview with one of the game Developers on the build up to DF release (it was either Ion with Anniefushcia or Nobbel87 with Steve Denuser, can’t remember which), and the question came up. There simply is anything you can do with this games format to change the style of quests.

I think the difference between old wow and new is that because the drop rate was terrible and mobs weren’t shared, and you didn’t start with a mount, you spent 90% of your time in doing the quest.

Were as with modern wow, the time to kill is faster, mobs shared pretty much 100% drop rate, most of the quests are bland in nature and haven’t really evolved much, so you spend more of your time just running back hand a quest that took 2m doing the actual quests. Makes the game feel dull, this isn’t just something that’s been introduced to WoW from shadowlands it’s been happening progressively over time.

Now I’m not saying that I want to go back to the old ways of killing 150 zebra’s to get 10 bodies, but having quests that evolve so you’re out in the field more than you are shuttling back and forwards to a quest giver would be far more enjoyable.

I love DF, but they are correct. Especially the last few quests.

  • Collect 30 of these by killing mobs
  • Now collect 100 of these by killing mobs
  • Fill progress bar by, you guessed it, killing mobs
  • Touch 8 of these, but they are surrounded by mobs, so kill them first.

There’s nothing new here in terms of questing. It’s the same stuff we’ve seen in the past. Other reused mechanics

  • Escort quests
  • Listening to story quests
  • Shoot a ballista quests

The very first quest in vanilla wow for a human is to go and kill some rabbits(?). Not 100% sure of the animal but all the way through vanilla you had to go and kill a certain number of creatures or kill them for a certain number of drops … it’s been a staple quest for wow ever since.

Partially agree. I think it should be a good mix of short side quests and in depth quest lines tied to the plot. I don’t mind your classic Hemet Nesingwary quests where you’re basically on the hunt for certain mob kills. It especially fits the centaur theme also, which are the element I actually connect with Shadowlands because I wonder if their sort of connected to the Night Fae. Would make much sense at least minding the zone theme.

However, I can understand that too much of kill 10 to 20 can feel a bit dull over time. Especially since you apparently can make it from 60 to 70 by the entirety of quests in two new zones already. Would’ve preferred a few less quests and instead finishing content by having gone through all four zones by mainly follow up quest lines.

Seriously though… the listening to story quest part has reached new dimensions in terms of story length with DF. Brings me to the question if anyone has seen Bronzebeard yet. Still stuck in Ohn’ahran satisfying my neurotic urge to complete all quests per zone before moving on, so I don’t know lol.

Lmao same. “Optional” is not in my vocabulary when it comes to quest completion. I shed a tear watching people’s dragons soar past me while I rode the slowass wombat to each destination.

I hate to break this to you… but completing the dragon tour routes for each zone is part of the regional quest packs. :zipper_mouth_face:

But good for you to keep it for later. I don’t even get to complete a single flight between quest points because I have to do a deep dive from above for each and every single I spot below. Big fun for me but not so much for the little animals I kill with my blast wave whilst landing. :joy:

But yeah, I don’t get how people can complain that there are not enough quests to get to level 70.

Dragonflight feels like a new game to me with all the changes.

The design focus is a lot more on exploration and doing what you feel like.

I’m sure eventually we’ll get back into the mythic+ / raiding routine, but so far it’s very enjoyable launch content with a lot to explore, discover and learn.

Even leveling feels a lot faster than it was in Shadowlands. Storytelling also was brought to a higher level in the game itself.
