Forum Behaviour

We have a forum here for discussing all things WoW related and a means of flagging up any issues that we may have concerns with regarding the game. But there ae problems.

There is a minority of posters that seem determined to get any thread that they don’t like or disagree with shut down by making controversial comments or introducing a subject matter that they know is going to either upset, offend or make someone angry.

Blizzard know who these posters are and I think it’s about time that harsher punishment was handed out to these people.

A lifetime forum and game ban is what I propose for repeat offenders and also have details made known to set as an example to others.

An execution and the gibbet?

Harsh indeed.

I agree, but what I don’t agree with is when someone goes through the trouble to produce a well written and reasonable post and the thread gets hijacked and destroyed by these morons.

The current punishment system is obviously not working so harsher penalties are needed as a deterrent for this so of anti social behaviour

Other than reporting players it’s not our place to tell what the moderators should do or not do.

I demand public shaming on the forum’s front page!

I’m honestly surprised to see some repeat offenders not getting permabanned from the forums. Some just seems to never be able to last more then a few days every time they return from a forum holiday. I wouldnt say they should get banned from the game though unless its really serious. That seems a bit harsh.

I agree to a point but also see why they are reluctant to go as far as permabans too. The 1 day 1 to 1 month bans (I think a month is currently the longest) are meant to give people a chance to change their behaviour.

They can also come back on another account anyway.

We do have the ignore function now and if everyone uses it to put those derailers and such on ignore they haven’t got an audience so are just typing to the wind so their efforts are pointless, they are only wasting their own time whilst everyone else carries on enjoying the forums. The best case scenario is they get bored without that audience or they just carry on talking to no one and wasting their energy but that is no concern of anyone else :woman_shrugging:

I would consider repeatedly destroying other peoples threads with this sort of behaviour as really serious.

By repeatedly doing it they’ve proven that they’re not fit to even use the internet. let alone be allowed into an environment where they can communicate with others.

And yes, it’s harsh, but there needs to be something harsh to act as a deterrent.

I think all non-game related topics such as politics or anything even closely related to that should be banned. This is not the place for things like that.

I’ve been triggered into replying in a few of those threads myself, but then second guessed myself when I’ve realised that this has nothing to do with the game and we are better off letting such threads just disappear.

I’m actually disappointed sometimes

Telling people to kill themselves
Telling people he wanted to harm them
Posting on a 2nd account whilst first one is banned and admittied this
Posted a fake screen shot of vile disgusting false claims and he is still posting .
He has broken every single major COC yet he is still here

Not heard of anyone getting longer than one month so far though :woman_shrugging: even if they claim 6 months and perma and possible they aren’t using those options

Before we met i had a 3 month one which i fully deserved i lost my temper and got baited plus it was right after me coming off another ban for a silly reason but all i am asking for is the rules to be followed and mods to take in all things not just one post look at the reasons around it .

I find the system is very strange and it is clearly not working .

I think a lot of people raise concerns regarding the game and also regarding the forums, in my opinion most do it in a civil manner although I agree we do also get the ‘flaming’ or ‘name calling’ posts.

I have seen plenty of controversy on a variety of subjects over the last few days, threads that discussed political views too, these have not been shut down.

I’m sorry Bagdawg, but I feel quite strongly about this, if I remain civil and polite in my posts, then I believe I should be able to discuss an issue, even if it is controversial.

Yes, we must all forsake our own foolish opinions and post only in the threads/on topics which are related to WoW. And we must all abstain from commenting or participating in any controversial topics. It should be severely punishable. We must all be purged of such inappropriate behaviour, if we are to make the forums a better place.

Respect each other, and be civil to each other. Walk the correct path.

That’s not what being said you can post your views in a polite manner there is nothing wrong with that its when people start name calling and using harsh words .

Flagged posts are reviewed and actioned accordingly.

If a poster continues to break the forum Code of Conduct the severity of action taken against them escalates. This can include the removal of all posting rights.

However it does usually take several actions to reach this point and depends on the severity of each forum infraction. The Moderation team would prefer that posters learn from previous mistakes and follow the code of conduct than to fully remove posting rights which is more a “last resort”.

Keep flagging inappropriate posts for review

Nooooo, we would lose a lot of the ‘fun threads’ if this happened. We need the fun stuff to balance everything out
