yes Mr. Stallman

sets up a dedicated non-logging xmpp server

But all jokes aside - Discord in an incognito tab, problem solved. If you donā€™t want them to have your IP use a VPN. I donā€™t think our data is much of value anyways really. If they want to sell my bad memes let them.

Wouldnā€™t put anything private on Discordā€¦

What are you trying to hide??

Heā€™s really a Martian giraffeā€¦

it probably wouldnt be so bad as you could pick them off the pizza and eat them separately. depends on whether they re marinated or not.

I know your comment was a joke, but since this is so commonly said thing i just have to comment on it. Everyone has completely innocent but private information that can cause them harm in wrong hands. People should always think what information is given/collectable about them (and by who) when using any services and how it can affect them/others. There is nothing wrong about keeping things private, sometimes it is even required (for example by line of work etc.). People i trust the least are the ones who always say they got nothing to hide - it makes me feel they are not trustworthy.

Hats off for Kyrel for advicing people with these things, as i have often been happy to see him doing. :vulcan_salute:

If we are talking about this, then I want to add that sometimes attempting to be less tracable (for example, deactivating JavaScript, blocking ads etc) can in some circumstances make someone more trackable than without doing that. Since the masses donā€™t take any step to avoid tracking, a session that does is sometimes followed in a much easier way.

thanks  and thanks for adding stuff to it

that being said

Thank you for asking and to be straight i have been considering but i donā€™t know if it would be place for me. While i know all people there are super nice i am more of a small circle chatter when it comes to discord and similar ā€œrolling chatā€ environments. Also (as some might know :stuck_out_tongue:) i donā€™t know correct protocols for commenting cat pictures! Dog pictures are different thing though.

To be honest, it is very relaxed, informal and just a nice environment, we do talk -a lot- especially in the late evenings, and some of the guys and gals organise raid runs and stuff, sometimes there are cat pictures. Sometimes discussions about what is acceptable on a Pizza (I am a Heretic in those discussions apparently, as well as for my dislike of cheese), it never gets super serious, and it is fun having people talking from all over the place, From the USA to South Africa, to the far East of Europe, and then the obligatory Scandinavians and Brits (Hi!)

It genuinely is a nice place.

Also, Araj, we donā€™t always agree with each other, I donā€™t agree with the dietary choices Lxser was advocating (I canā€™t even go into detail here, but everyone was like ā€œNo! Thats Illegal!ā€ but generally people kind of just go ā€œOh, actually I know the other Forum goers a bit better nowā€ So its good for that.
