Greetings,
I have just figured out the cause for the FPS drops at least in my case when it comes to WoW.
If I am in open world or instanced content, running your cursor over an enemy nameplate causes the game to stutter.
If I keep clicking the nameplate, I can halt my normally 100+ fps game into 1-3 frames a second.
