Hey guys, in the character selection screen - in the shop tab there is an option to move my character for free to another realm, however no matter what realm name I type in there, the continue button is greyed out. Is it because the free character transfer is unavailable or why?
My problem for which I want to move is that when I first started to play Pandaria the realm selection screen suggested to create a character on a realm that is not marked as “Full”. The only realm that had this option was “Auberdine” however after playing there for a quite a while I found out that the realm is french. This was not indicated on any screen or anywhere else in game, I had to manually look this info up.
My question is… Is it possible to move from this realm to another where I can have a chance of having a conversation in english and not french? No offense towards french players ofc…
Indeed, I don’t understand why the Russian and Spanish realms kept their own specific tab in the realm list, meanwhile French lost its own tab and simply got classified as “Active” among the other english-speaking realms.
As a French person, i already knew that Auberdine is French, therefore it didn’t bother me that much personally. But many new players will get confused for sure. I’ve already seen some messages in trade chat asking why everyone is speaking french.
Thank you for your reply, I’m guessing that there is no official Thred or FAQ regarding this matter? Or do you think I will have to just check the Free Transfer Screen daily and see if it became suddenly available.
Typically how it is ordered is that those realms are language-supported by Staff e.g. official help exists. Though I’m quite sure French should be too unless the office closure also fully eradicated almost all French support.
There is one for Classic/HC/SoD but none for Classic MoP yet I guess. Typically whenever one is given it will be announced through forums as well.
Right? It doesn’t make sense… Anyways like I said I don’t have a problem playing on a french realm, the game functions just the same it’s just that a lot of times you are missing out on a social aspect of the game because of a language barrier.
Yes, you can not transfer free-of-charge from Auberdine (FR) to any other server, but you can transfer to any other server from here for money.
You can also not transfer free-of-charge from any other ‘Active’ labelled server & the 1 Russian unlocked server due to the same reason.
You can only free-of-charge transfer from ‘Legacy’ labelled servers, from the 1 Spanish-server & from the 2nd Russian-server, with any character with any level without a time limit until it will be changed, but only into 1 given direction, because from 24.09.2025 onwards all ‘Legacy’-servers, the Spanish-server & the 2nd Russian-server, are closed for character-creation & have a distinct new-main-destination-server each. In the ‘Active’-tab are 3 of the 4 new main-servers for EU and their respective connected sub-servers are in that list, too. A sub-server is a server that is linked to its main-server together with its other connected sub-server siblings, while the sub-servers & their main-server are essentially the main-server itself. It is just an internet-traffic-distribution-way & was also part of the idea to save the character-names for everyone transferring into the new server-system, the given 1-way-direction from ‘Legacy’ → ‘Active’ was about to do that, when the character-creation was locked for 3,5 days on the new servers in the ‘Active’-tab.
While at the same time the order of all the server-tabs in the server-selection-screen-menu does not adhere to an obvious logic anymore, it is seemingly chaotic, some classifications have gone obsolete since 24.09.2025, other classifications have been deleted as was the language-info for EN, FR, GER. But there is maybe a hidden logic:
‘Active’ → new, unlocked, EN FR GER mixed without label
‘Legacy’ → old, locked, EN FR GER mixed without label
‘Spanish’ → only region with 1 server ever since & also locked
‘Russian’ → different alphabet, cyrillic not latin.
Today: 4 mega-servers + 5 sub-servers:
1 → is in the Russian-tab: that is Plamegor (RU) (the RU letters into latin ones) called Flamegore in english
3 → are in the ‘Active’-tab, together with 5 sub-servers in this ‘Active’-tab:
MirageRaceway (EN)
Auberdine (FR)
Everlook (GER).
+ 2 sets of sub-servers to 2 of these 4 main-servers which are
Depending from which locked ‘Legacy’-server, or from the 1 locked Spanish-server or from the 2nd & locked Russian-server one is starting from, there are only 1 respectively sometimes 2 options selectable in the free-transfer shop-menu, to get transferred to 1 of these 4 main-servers.
Look at this list, a buried, once top pinned post, for the information from which ‘Legacy’, Spanish & Russian locked servers, you are able to free-of-charge transfer to 1 of these 4 main-servers:

For the EN-part you may not see a MirageRaceway destination in the free-transfer category in the shop, but 1 or more of its sub-servers. Just choose the one you like, when you are creating a new character or do take the paid-transfer-service. And, there are no full-servers anymore, do not mind the population anymore, the population-limit is effectively infinite regarding any server from now on, that is what they did announce at least.
Thank you for the very thorough reply. So from what I can understand I am now basically screwed and have to level another 80 levels on an English-language realm just because Blizzard is unable to tell me beforehand if the realm is French English or German.
