Free Character Transfers Available from Firemaw

So Kaviax, are you going to update the other thread about this?

And do what exactly on a realm with no players? Even a 5 hour que is preferable to that…
Did the same, all my friends moved to firemaw and after a long break i log in to a dead Mograine that i transferred to from an equally dead Stonespine already.

It’s Blizzard and Blizzard only that is to blame for what is happening make no mistake. Blinded by greed.

There are others server than Firemaw - even for alliance player - no need to transfer to a mega server with 70k players.

Well this argument can also be reversed. If other servers are as attractive, why don‘t/didn’t you and your guild transfer in order to avoid those horrible queue times. In the end it is still free of charge formyou. Ohhh that‘s not comparable because you always played Firemaw? Well too bad… others also had to abandon their „home“ because of Blizzards poor server management.
Your posts are pure double standard. And no, I never have nor will play on Firemaw.

Servers should have been locked way back when they reached full. Layers should never have been enabled. Would have helped alot with what we currently have to deal. But denying the benefits of Firemaw compared to other servers is pure BS. In the end the only reason you don‘t want more people on Firemaw is because it (now) interferes with YOUR schedule. Otherwise you would still welcome them with open arms like in the past, when they led to more opportunities for you.

Maybe they should create a total of 4 servers and let people that want to migrate from Firemaw move to one of those 3 other servers. Then make a new server when all of those 4 are full.

Sadly yes. And it was a fine realm to raid in truly Classic TBC manner, untill certain events in this year.

I would agree that by having so many layers on Firemaw in the first place helped cause other realms to die. Whilst benefitting Blizzard with $$$ from server transfers.

I really love the fact that because I didnt want to abaddon my guildmates before and during Sunwell resulted in beeing stuck on completely dead realm and in case that I dont want to leave my character that I have been playing since day 1 behind then without faction change literally my only choice would be Earthshaker.

Hey blizzard could u just do some fusion of two servers…. One with 90+% horde and second with 90+% of alliance. Simply solution for u guys, and u dont Need to pay for this tip  its for free :ok_hand::facepunch:

What help are blizzard offering for Guilds that Transfer? For example will they transfer Guild Name, Guild Bank and all that?
The answer is almost certainly no, so transferring off requires rebuilding guild, repurchasing guild bank.
Simply no incentive to move off beyond queues, as offered servers won’t give what players are looking for, which is why they came to Firemaw in the first place.

There’s huge amount of people who don’t understand that layering and server capacity are two different things. Server capacity is is determined by the physical hardware and what happened to Firemaw is that it hit limit of what actual physical hardware can handle. In the end of the day a server is run on pair of threadrippers or xeons somewhere in the cloud and you need better ones before you can increase the capacity again.

Many of you keep mentioning that server X has more layers while Firemaw only 4. Layers in simplest term doesn’t mean capacity, it’s in fact dilution tool so each area wouldn’t be too crowded. A dead server can have 100 layers and if all of firemaw decided to move to that dead server it wouldn’t fit in.

Perfect analogy: Imagine a server as a cubic room of 10 meters by 10 meters by 10 meters. Room has only enough air to sustain 100 people and if you were in the room with 99 others it would be very confined and crowded. However what if we add floors! Now we have 4 floors of 25 people per floor. You would feel much more spacious and you can feel that this building could fit way more people now. WRONG! Remember, there’s only enough air for 100 people. So what layers does is it add floors to the server but not the air. The air in the case of firemaw are literally CPU’s and RAM on the MB somewhere in the cloud running the server code.

Leave the PvE Servers alone, they dont suffer the mass migrations to and from, like the PvP Servers do. They might be Ally dominated, but the minority faction can carry on with it’s life quite happily.

Our community is just fine the way it is thanks.

Clearly no clue about Enterprise level server technology.

Your analogy fails - Unlike the room, server capacity can be increased - It’s ( or should ) be scalable, and normally on the fly with no downtime.

Erikpreistly is right because

  • If you take all PvP servers Horde to Ally ratio is rougly 2:1
  • On the PvE servers it’s 1:2.
  • We already have 3 fine PvE servers. All are around 1:2 and they do not grow, shrink, die, ressurect etc. in waves as the PvP servers do.
  • Balance is impossible.
  • The PvE servers are as balanced as they’ll ever be.

To sum up: The PvE servers are fine as they are. Think out ideas and solutions for the PvP servers, but leave the PvE servers alone.

(this example was made using EU English servers only - you won’t really change anything by using numbers from all of EU)

Actually I do have experience with running MMO servers as well as other kind game servers and there’s a huge difference when it comes to what can be easily spun with cloud servers and what can’t. Even Blizzard stated them selves that Firemaw reached physical server capacity limit.

While each MMO is different but roughly speaking most follows same rules:

#1 Log in server. Self explanatory.
#2 Main game server. It’s the server responsible for all in game logic as well as updating DB. It’s job to track everyone and everything in the world and keep the world up to date for everyone who’s connected to it as well as keep accurate track records of players inventories and items.
#3 NPC server. It connects to MGS. If you remember there used to be rare instances when all NPC’s would vanish in game. It’s because NPC server would either crash or DC from MGS.

So why can’t we just spin 2nd MGS and call it a day? It’s because of sync issues with 1st MGS. There’s a reason why network engineers are the most paid in IT and even they haven’t solved this problem yet. This is why Star Citizens “dynamic server meshing” is BS.

So why other games have no issues spinning up servers on demand? Well because each server is small by nature and only needs to last from few minutes to few hours max. For example each game of CS:GO or DOTA2 is on it’s own server. Once the game ends, the server shuts down. They do not communicate between different servers of Dota 2, they do not update every other player involved in different match. Each server is it’s own little universe. Therefore you can easily spin up or down servers for these games on demand as they don’t last long. However MMO servers stays on for a WEEK!

So when will u unlock the server again ? my girlfriend finally agreed to try wow but now she cant play with me and the others because u locked the server.

I would like to play with my friends, but now i cannot create a character on Firemaw. Please find a solution so we can play with our friends.

And people say they dont listen to feedback
First, lock the server, now unlock it

Maybe YOU Blizzard should start banning bots? Over asking playes to leave Firemaw… This is so ridiculous. There is thousands of bots on Firemaw right now.

They wont, bots paying subs and Blizzard is sooooo hungry for money…
Who care about game quality and rules…

We should boycott game until they seriously and active start to remove bots and hackers… but many of legit players love so much this game, made by OLD Blizzard… good OLD Blizzard not these bad Hazzikostas’ developers
