1 month ago or so I transfered my character from hydraxian warlords to firemaw after I died in HC mode, it was the free transfer service.
but now i just died on a HC character and went to transfer and i can only transfer to pyrewood village
did something change?
Free transfers to Firemaw were available to every Era realm for limited time as consolidation effort. It had nothing to do with SSF HC you were taking part in. HW is an RP realm and these usually have transfers to PvE realms like Purewood Village.
Blizzard promised that new HC realms will have free transfers to Era, but didn’t specified if to all realms or selected few.
Also the HC mode you’re playing is the unofficial addon mode, the official Hardcore mode will be from dedicated realms with actual free transfers* which will be released sometime in the future.

“Your character is not necessarily lost if you die, however. After dying on a Hardcore realm, players will be able to choose to utilize the Free Character Move service and move their dead character to a non-Hardcore Classic Era realm. Once the move is complete to the non-hardcore realm, that character may resurrect as normal, but the way back to a Hardcore realm will be closed to them.”
The HC free transfer is not in yet. Will only come with launch of official servers.
