for me since yesterday after the Windows 11 update… every now and then after I alt tab and look at something else I go back into the game sometimes it freezes for a few seconds…

yeah same here that windows update messed up quite a bit, when tabbed out the game after like 20sec the sound of the game starts playing and when i return to the game the resolution is messed up and needs restart to fix.
Yeah im dealing with this issue since i updated to Win11 24H2… Microsoft said that they fixed it but its still happening to me…
I know that with today’s update they didn’t solve it, there is no fix, it will be for the next update from what I’ve seen
did anyone manage to fix this? I am having the same problem after a windows update (or that is the last change that happened to my system that I remember)
I re-installed the graphics card driver and reset it to default settings, but it didn’t help.
no the problem persists we will see the windows update next month now it’s almost over… since it’s their problem

Hey all, the culprit for me was windows 11 update 24h2.
There is no easy way to downgrade to the working 23h2, so I found an old iso and re-installed windows to that version.
The problem went away instantly.

PS. Posted in another thread on this issue - disabling g-sync “fixes” it.
I disabled it but it didn’t solve anything, after a certain number of hours of playing if I alt tab the game freezes
I installed that Win 11 update on Wednesday and yesterday raided for 2h with g-sync enabled with lots of alttabbing. No freezes or crushes.
Idk if that was coincedence. Will continue monitoring.

I don’t know if there are other users with the same problem!!! So far it’s just you and me writing, it happens to me a lot less… but do chrome and discord give you problems? because the known problem also gave problems to those at a graphic level that cut the images

Chrome still bugging on alttab eg top of the page can freeze and not scrolling.
Discord also caused some weird bug prior latest update. Once launched and after altabbing back to WoW it started to cause screen turn black for 2-3 sec on each alttab going forward. Closing discord didn’t help, only full PC restart fixed it. Never happened again though so idk wtf was that lol. Google says that such behavior can be due to Display Port bandwith issues but I am using same hardware/cable/settings for years and it never happened before.
Soon going to build new machine when RTX 5xxx will come out and deffo won’t install latest Win 11.

I had similar issues after updating Windows 11 to 24h2.
- Discord would sometimes only update half of it’s window, or simply not update it’s window at all, when scrolling through channels or changing to another
- Games, WoW in particular, would freeze when changing to another window
- Videos would flicker when played in the background

The root cause seems to be MPO, disabling this with the method provided by NVIDIA seems to have fixed this issue.
