Game Freeze and UI resolution reset. Error WaitForSingleObjectEx Timeout

Since 3-4 weeks I have an issue when alt-tabing to desktop/browser/other app while WoW client is running on the background.
When tabbing back game freeze and after few secs comes back to live, but resolution of UI is down to some blurry mess of pixels.
Only client restart helps.

I can see many people have/had similar issue but I can’t find any resolution.
gx.log right after this happens:

I’m experiencing exactly the same issue. The entire WoW window becomes unresponsive, and if I act aggressively—like clicking around the WoW window in a “panic”—the whole game crashes instead. If I wait it out, it can take up to 30 seconds before it responds again. As you mentioned, the resolution sometimes changes, but occasionally, “sound in background” also gets enabled for some reason after it freezes. The Escape key can also stop working—though I can fix that with a /reload.

I’ve been looking into the issue, and it seems the new Windows update (24H2) might have caused some problems. I’m not sure if it’s related, though.

Edit: I have Geforce RTX 3070.

I have the same issue. All the symptoms you mentioned. Any solution?

Same issue to this day. I have tried repairing the game, re-installing Graphic cards drivers, updated bios and installed the newest windows updates. Still no success.

Yeah, in some other threads it is mentioned that latest Win 11 update could cause this issue and now I realise that I first encountered it sometime around when that update was released.

I haven’t done any research on MS forums though if it was addressed and tbh I don’t care as I know MS support is useless.

Just hoping it will be fixed somehow as on my ultrawide screen I constantly tabbing between WoW and some other app and getting game crash/UI resolution reset every time is annoying.

are you still having problems?
the problem for me is that it freezes when I do alt tab…

Yes, I still have it. Even after recent big Win update. Not fixed yet.

It is not only WoW that behaves “strange”.
If I alt tab to Chrome and scroll web page while WoW is on the background it is often that top part of the page is stuck and only bottom part is scrolling.
Might be also that this issue is causing problems with G-sync. As far as I know upper and botom part of the screen are rendered separately and then synced together. In my case image is stuck exactly in the upper part.

Same lol… The update didnt help…
The Chrome issue is so annoying. Im forced to drag the window around for it to show correctly.

same issue here, yesterday I did the incognitro secret mount, I was constantly alt-tabbing to follow guides etc, and this freezing issue got me on my nerves.

Seems like disabling g-sync “fixes” the issue, but it is just unacceptable…
