Hey, as you have all seen Blizzard is trying to implement certain stuff to the fresh classic servers.
Honor System in p1, great idea and this is something we had on private servers aswell, makes it more fun to level up and pvp while doing it. But what is the point in ranking if you only get 1 year to enjoy the hard work it takes to rank up a character.
Removed worldbuffs, this honestly kills fresh for more than half of the community at least. I personally do not care much about it but from what i’ve heard a lot of ppl don’t like it. I think we should have world buffs but they shouldn’t be dispellable.
Increased Experience, no one asked for this and I am in general against it. I have done 1-60 on TBC and it takes away some of the magic with the increased rates. Also it alienates a part of the community who mainly play the game for the leveling process whether it is speed leveling or just leveling in general.
Meeting stones converted to Summoning stones is super anti classic in my oppinion. I personally don’t like the idea of summoning at all, especially the summon inside wall meta we had in classic was very damaging to the game.
I propose summoning will remove worldbuffs from players, this forces people to run with their guild to raid instead of summoning inside walls (literally exploiting) to enter raids fully buffed.
Fix the servers, what we had in classic was a laggy mess. I have multiple clips/videos where the server is almost crashing on itself and massive input lag (sometimes ive seen 30+ seconds) whenever there is to many ppl around. I don’t know what causes this but it is something that was never an issue when we played on private servers so it shouldn’t be an issue on a modern server/client either. Please correct what causes this so we can have big fights again. If it is an issue with the server-on-demand thing, then fork out the money we invest into your game to better the issue.
Increased herb+mining nodes is a good thing, please implement more anti bot measures that benefits the community. Id love to see more bans on bots in the future. If you look at TBC, the economy is completely botted because of the current approach is not working. Hire people to deal with it maybe.
Anyways just my opinion but from what I understand a lot of people that are passionate about classic share a lot of the same ideas.
Also I would love for you guys to be more transparent and communicative with the community to try and find out what people want.

Alot of people that are passionate about classic seem happier to see the classic era servers stagnate into a miniscule population because there’s nothing to draw people to them once the content has been busted through by the speed run meta.
Frankly, I am glad world buffs are going, they sucked, instead of people recognising that the content was a lot easier than they recalled, and using that opportunity to experiment with some off specs, less used classes, to mix up the roster, the players turned it into some stupid, tedious speed run to try and enforce any kind of challenge to the content, guilds and groups making world buffs mandatory was painfully cringey, literally optimise the game away.
As for levelling, this one I’m fifty fifty about, think it will be good to see if it helps keep up with the new content cadence, because 12 months is quite a tight squeeze for the whole classic lifespan I reckon, that time frame with regular levelling might leave a lot of people left out of end game stuff.

For some people the endgame “content” of the game is a lot more things than just raiding.

And this optimization will be more important now because you can’t get carried by world buffs and slow pulling, making other specs even less viable
Only change which is need for Season of Mastery is to quit entire project because will be huge fail.
This game is not made to be rushed with retails jokes, who really will play 1 year race to nowhere and then deletion and reset of all?
Entire project is lol

You forgot the most important change : 12 months and then server wipe.
This format is really retail-minded. Notably : the belief that raid is the only content of the game and leveling is “a chore” (so it must be accelerated) is oozing from this format. It doesn’t understand what vanilla is.

You got a source for that? At the end of the day stacking world buffs was an oversight by the vanilla devs that would have been fixed if it was abused to the extent it was in classic
Blizzard sent out a survey to however many people and the majority voted for these things so it might not be representative of everyone but some people asked for these changes
Blizzard are only planning to increase quest experience by TBC rates (30% ish) which is good because there will be less people dungeon grinding and more world pvp, isn’t that what you want?
I won’t be playing classic with these minuscule amount of changes and I know there are lots of people like me
I know there are lots of people that won’t play classic with any changes and that’s understandable too
Best case scenario is they fire up a nochanges server alongside all the changes server so the majority of people can play what they want, it’s a game at the end of the day we just want to have fun
It is probable they mainly sent the survey to retail whales + some random dudes (to create a larger panel). It would explain the orientation of these changes.
That’s either this explanation (cater to retail whales), or the changes come from retail developers obsessed with their retail philosophy and incapable to project themselves on another work.

Posted on wrong character, what I typed was: For some people wow classic is everything BUT raiding. For me personally it is probably the weakest part of classic aside from people raiding at the highest level improving their times.
For me its all about the social experience and raiding is more a means to an end so I don’t personally care much about the world buffs, but I recognize the stuff world buffs brings to the game for example.

I didn’t get any survey. They probably asked a select group of people instead of a wider part of the audience.
If they want an accurate survey they need to ask people that are actually planning to actively play the game. Lots of people have opinions on what classic wow should be, but are not planning to play it, I know some of these.

Some people think differently to me, I must insult them.
Why do you care, it will either be a success (I think it will) or it won’t (like you seem to think) wither way, you don’t have to play it. Classic Era is as close to No changes as you are getting. Enjoy it.
Personally I had no interest in Classic Fresh without a few changes, I didn’t get all I asked for (I got the survey) but I have got enough that I’m tempted with it, and If I enjoy it I’ll likely play for many seasons.

I care because wow vanilla is one of the best designs of these 20 last years and it pains me to see its custodians monkeying with it, without any respect or understanding for its brilliance.
Perhaps you’re a cynic who doesn’t care about anything in their life. I’m not.

No, Vanilla wasn’t perfect and even if it was the owners of the IP have a right to consult the open market (like they did) and ask them what is more likely to make them continue to pay for access.
They then have the right to act or not in order to determine how to best monetize their IP. Now they might be making a mistake here, but only time will tell, and insulting customers who think differently to you doesn’t help and is in fact more likely to hinder
They didn’t “consult the open market”, they send some mails to some people.
I have been a core blizzard customer for 20 years, spent thousands of dollars, was in most of their betas, but didn’t received anything. Surely because I didn’t put any money in the poopfest that is retail.
The open market consultation will begin when this format will be released. This said, there is a market for retail experience : it’s ~2 millions players. So yeah perhaps it will work because retail fans will play it.
But poop can work on open market: market success is not a metric for quality of design. Or retail would have had 0 players for years.
A lot of the private servers that I’ve played do have things like increased XP rates, and In game shops.
Don’t be surprised if there’s a shop here, I believe there will be.
It depends of what kind of business you want to build.
The retail marketing philosophy is to extract more money from less players. In this context, yes it is “smart” to send mails mostly to whales (which btw is not an insult but an industry term, not my fault if the industry doesn’t respect its customers).
I am convinced this marketing strategy is narrow minded and cannot make the most money possible. It would make far more money to attract the more than 10 millions players dissatisfied by retail than to cater to the 2 millions players still playing it.
Classic was the open door to this more broad and smart strategy. But they are wasting its potential by reducing it to a retail minus experience.
They are making a huge mistake from a profit point of view.

From all the posts and voices within the community I really get the impression that the survey has been sent out to churned customers to win them back. The currently subbed playerbase continues to stay subscribed anyway

Whales are good short term sure, but classic has stood its test of time on private servers for what, 15 years and there is still an audience that wants the real experience.
And it is limited how much you can “whale” in classic anyways so essentially your argument is invalid.
Just go with the formula that works and people have enjoyed for 15+ years for good reason.

Decision is made by Blizzard. There’s no point to beg for your damn Buffs or early pvp gear to zug zug content by overgearing it.
This is the NO WORLD BUFF season. get over it. may be if u are a smart kid… MAY BE… MAY BE ONE DAY it should be world buffed and 30 R14 warrior into BWL Week 1 season MAY BE ONE DAY!
But not this time. Sory.
I don’t really care about the buffs, I care about what they bring to the world if done right.
