You cannot compare Era 5 years without any progress vs. 1 year fresh Vanilla and TBC coming 2026.
I guess you are the hype hopper who will leave after a month, so speak for yourself.

The thing is, as usual Blizzard react way too late (in my opinion)
The fanbase was craving a Fresh that’s true, but that was mostly before ERA became crowded, while it was dead, and I was among the first to ask for a FRESH back then
Now ERA is in a good state, it’s become home over the years, it’s crowded, it’s cozy, we have gold, countless alts, don’t really feel the need to start over somewhere else.
so it’ll most likely be a skip on my part.

Yes i kinda agree. Came back to era a few months ago, and it was alot of people playing! I understand that people have asked for fresh for a while now, but as you said- that was when the servers were pretty much dead.
Now i have spent hours upon hours on era on a new character soon to be lvl 40, and from now on i fear era will be somewhat dead for a while:(
Looking forward to tbc absolutely, as long as it doesnt progress to cata/mop:/

A lot of people are looking forward to it… if we end up having a blast for only one month (very unlikely that it’s gonna be that short) then it’s an awesome month. Nothing bad about that.
Go out, get some fresh air, do something that lifts up your spirit… you seem to desperately need it
Era State Reality:
Crowded with MMO hoppers
Crowded with raid loggers
Crowded with GDKP players
Crowded with bots
All this confirms why Era became stagnation, which is understandable after 5 years.

That imho is what is going to happen.
A lot of people from Era will indeed enjoy a fresh classic and going through the phases from MC to Naxx as they have “new” content from time to time on the horizon with the release of BWL etc.
Fresh will imho definitely break some raids on era servers or even entire guilds.
But ofc there will also be the players that just want to chill on their maxed out lvl 60 char on era and are not interested in the rush for new gear or new grind of recipes etc. anymore.
I just re-subbed yesterday in preparation of the upcoming fresh servers (and to write on the forums)…so from a market point of view I guess Blizzard already won. Fresh Classic will bring players back that already left and weren’t playing WoW anymore. And I even try to get people over to classic that i firstly met in Throne and Liberty. So there might even be people playing on fresh classic that are completely new to Classic WoW or WoW as a whole.

Hey, I wasn’t during 2019 Classic release, nor during the release of Vanilla and TBC back in the day, so I’m actually happy with these fresh servers

You are not a Gamer. You’re one of those who play for the sake of your little ego 3 months+ then you quit for the next 9-12 months. And then finally, when you’re back at it, then you are so far behind that you feel it’s pointless, right? (which actually it isn’t.) Cause like I said, Era still purr’s like a kitten.

My vibe based analysis is, that while OP is obviously being hyperbolic, he is right. Would not be surprised if new fresh ends up like SoM unfortunately. I see nowhere near the hype we saw at classic 2019 or even SoD.
After 5 years no more progress.
Why else people ask for fresh, because stagnation and raid logging only.

Anecdotal evidence, I know, but my guild has had over 100 applications in the past couple of days for fresh. We’ve recruited 90+ and filled all class roles. The hype for fresh is real. Drop off will likely occur (just like every game mode), but we expect to have a healthy roster of 50 raiders, and 10-20 socials at level 60.
No idea why people are always so fast to be negative and attack others over this. It’s just another game mode that some people have asked for. Lots of our guildies are still playing Cata or SoD alongside it due to 1 night raiding.
*2 realms tho. 1 pvp - mostly for bots, streamers and momma’s pvpers, and 1 pve.
Im so glad SoD, Cata and Era are all gonna suffer because of new fresh servers. SoD and Era will completely die and Cata will be on a bigger life support than it is today, oh what a joy

FRESH brings →
- balanced server PvP
- enjoying BGs while leveling without overpowered Twinks
- not being 1v1ed by a SoD hunter’s pet
- no boosters for a while
- and the list go on
i would prefer to be directly in TBC from lvl 1 but, it’s still better than no TBC
