I was wondering what do you guys think will happen to the currently booming classic era server population if they release a fresh server again. I am currently leveling on Firemaw pvp and it is awesome though I have worries about investing to it right now.
Do you think many people will abandon classic era again for a fresh server?
I think it entirely depends of the types of players. Atm I think a big chunk of the playerbase on era are just playing to have fun and experience vanilla without the stress and obligations of ‘bis before next phase’.
That said there are people who enjoy pushing content and getting bis gear so those might jump on a fresh server.
My opinion: an isolated fresh server without description from blizz will die a few months into the lifespan of Molten Core. A fresh that is promised to go through all the phases and expansions will have more traction, but that kind of server would be too soon with wotlk still going.
I think most people who want fresh are waiting for fresh. Max level Era players are unlikely to leave or if they do, it will be for short time before they return to their Era characters.
There is this type of ppls who levels fresh for trill of competition. Also Wpvp at beggining of fresh server. Fresh is gonna be success for few months and MAYBE even for entire planed lifespam of it.
Era players already proved that ERA is gonna stay here and be your home if Blizzard doesnt destroy what community (small or bigger) achieved, by just playing game and have fun. So dont be worried about investing time into ERA. It will be there, it survived TBC, Wotlk and SOM and retail. It will survive even another SOM.
You cant go wrong with a char on era and as soon as fresh drops you will also lvling there, after fresh, everyone will be on era again , so you will have 2 characters on era
Nothing. At this moment era pvp servers are full and losing some players to fresh wont be a problem. Secondly most fresh comers will leave fresh in 1-2 month as hype gone and grind starts
In my opinion fresh server will be dead after bwl release, maybe few weeks after. In era you can leveling calmly and there will be no rush for bis items. And you can make a brake on raidin on era and come back.
When fresh releases the era realms will be a ghost town atleast for a few months, when the fresh hype wears off some will stay some will go back to era, don’t think it should turn you off from playing era now tho.
As Elwenil has already written, Era has gone through the birth of TBC, WotLK, SoM and DF and still here and stronger by the day.
In fact, only TBC had a negative impact for about three months, in which Era was at a really dark place. Afterwards, population growth trend has been steady.
I believe if fresh is released, a good number of players will decide to try it out. However, while fresh brings the thrill of starting anew, it also brings with it metas, stress, competition and mafias among other things. And this is what makes Era great - It is a different and new flavor of WoW.
Because of this it will always retain a solid - at times smaller, at times bigger - playerbase. If anything, fresh will bring even more interest to Vanilla and I see it as a win win no matter what. If fresh is not for you, come to Era. If fresh is for you, and you play till the end, you are welcome on Era at the end of your journey!
There’s a good chance there might be at least one HC server, since Blizzard could just ride the hype train for HC while also having to do minimal work.
Of course, we’re in the dark, so anything could happen.
Disagree, I think if there’s fresh realms ALOT of people will play fresh atleast for a while. Doesn’t mean era won’t have players, it will just be significantly less. Players that prefer era over fresh are in my opinion the minority anyways.
