I just want to play a fresh release of classic vanilla WoW. I do not want SoM with exp boost, summoning stones and accelerated patches. Please just let me play the real deal. The only change that I would not mind would be some little tweaks to help meme specs, but I am happy perfectly happy with no changes. Or some further experimental (in vanilla fashion) content after Naxx would also be sweet, but I know that is a lot to ask.
The 1-60 Journey in a fresh and true vanilla WoW server is magical. No other way of putting it.
So I am begging the one unpaid intern that is working on WoW Classic. Please release a classic version of WoW classic. Classic Classic WoW, a fresh vanilla server. I do not want to play and support 3rd party realms, but as of this moment you are not giving me any choice… Please just let me play my favorite game.

+1, but not the change of classes, Vanilla classes are pure perfection.

I would do it all over again, but only after WotLK concludes.
I still think it’s a bit too early (mostly because of SoM) and that it will suffer a similar fate to that of SoM. It was almost completely dead already halfway through.
1-60 in Vanilla is great, though.

Vanilla classes are perfection in fantasy and gameplay, but I do think it would be nice with a very tiny nudge to help some specs out that barely gets played. However, I understand that even little tweaks if done poorly could ruin the perfection, so Blizzard really have to be careful about it.

Once wotlk has run its course ill be playing vanilla again for sure

I disagree. It does not need to be a world wide phenomena where everyone and their grandma is playing it. What do they have to lose if they release just a realm or two yearly that people who wants to play a fresh vanilla can play on? I am sure they already have all the infrastructure and code ready to make this happen, and it would definitely make them keep a couple of thousand subs.

I agree with that it doesn’t have to be a big thing. I’d level a character to 60 casually if it dropped now, but I would quit after reaching 60 in order to focus on Wrath. I have a feeling a lot of players would do the same at this very moment because for many it’s too soon to do it all over again.
But hey! I’m just speaking for myself and a handful of others with whom I had this discussion with not very long ago.

Season of no changes would be great. 1 PVP realm and 1 PVE if there is interest is all we need. And I think lots of people have completed Naxxramus in WOTLK so they’ll have a bit of spare time for vanilla.

Exactly! A season of no changes would be amazing. However, I am wondering if the reason for the no upcoming season right now is because of all developers are currently 100% focused on DF. This thought makes me immensely disappointed since DF is probably the first expansion that I will not purchase. Retail always ends up with the same disappointment and I am done with it.

You just wouldn’t really have people to play with.
People already complain about the fresh WLK realms, despite their very healthy size.
I don’t see the ultimate appeal of a new server if it has a lifespan of 2-3 months. Once people learn it’s a fad, it won’t even be busy in the beginning.
You can roll on an existing server, organize something on the forums, or even request Blizzard to advertise it. I tried era two weeks ago, it was empty. You can totally have the experience, without having to cry for accelerated phases.
Some people enjoy the Race to 60, but to beat a timer you don’t really need a fresh realm, just some restraint - don’t use the AH, just like ironmen don’t wear magic armor.
There is the promise of getting rich and dominating, but it’s false - there isn’t gold to take, and even if, there is nothing to spent it on, it’s just suffocating the realm, mandating a sufficient amount of gold farmer bots.
What we need is consolidating players, so that people can play in a group, especially in old WoW editions where there are group quests and dungeons matter.
The main promise of the sub and so-called “server access” is that we maintain our characters, there is no cease and desist. The 1-60 journey stops being magical after a few times. It’s really the best for people who never make it to 60-70-80, enjoying the 1-40 experience the most.
Yes it does but there are enough players that haven’t done yet it which justifies a new fresh server. I know that we can play on the existing era realms but there everyone starts at different times and it would be harder to find levelers at your level. If it’s a new server, most players will start at the same time.

I guess it’s time to go back playing on bootleg private serves… Sadly
Although…
They always had
Worldwide serves (which is superior in every way to stupid regional restricted servers)
Much More players
Better economics
Better spawn rates
Better ping
Less bots
Better GMs

I leveled about 5 60s and the magic is still there for me

It is indeed surprising that that some private server have better quality in some aspects than blizzard servers. Especially world wide servers, I am curious to why that has not been implemented yet.
Also, for a fresh vanilla release: please do not implement layers. It just completely ruins the immersion. Dynamic spawn rates is a much better solution for overpopulation, or just creating enough realms and being proactive about monitoring their health (like merging dying realms).

It depends. For mild overpopulation, it can work, although it gets funny and then annoying to compete for mobs. Been there in 2019, absolutely hated it.
On one end, you have the extinct zones - wasted 2 months sub logging once in a week at 6am to progress in Felwood or somesuch, only to see that everything is dead. Eventually decided to throw all quests and just hard grind 50-60 for 2 xp per boar.
It forces and empowers dungeon grinding.
On the other there is overspawn, I recommend visiting the worgen cave in Duskwood which is tiny and automatically triggers respawns. Literally impossible to clear to the entrance, maybe solo, but not as two players. Some classes may handle it, or even love it (mage blizzard farmers), others may need to replenish and fail to.
I also don’t care about layers because there is no immersion element to be broken. Aside the odd glitch of forming a dungeon group, I don’t know about players on the other layer, they might as well be playing on another server. Layer hopping (and chat) is silly, though - which is a sign of overly limited resource, too many players, too few layers. Which leads to the point, dynamic respawns of nodes, and the challenges of mining or herbing in such an overpopulated environment.
New Classic would actually pretty pog for the vanilla lovers, and we’re not a small number, most of us would pay for the real experience
But there are certain things that would need to improve that would best be suited to write on a poll.
Classic 2019 was great but i think there are small adjustments that the majority of classic players would agree on.

Once Wrath Classic concludes, sign me up!
Vanilla is far from perfect, but no flying, no arenas and good old Azeroth on a fresh server is something I’d like to do again.
With that said, I think it’s a bit too soon, still. And with Dragonflight just out and Ulduar on the horizon for Wrath Classic, I don’t think the Fresh Vanilla experience would be as good as it could be.

I agree I too would love a fresh release of “the real deal”. It seems to surprise Blizzard every time how many we actually are that love the original playstyle of the game. So please “no changes”
I’m about to stop playing WOTLK (as I did back in 2009… and Retail just does not interest me.
I went back to wow to play classic in 2019 and loved it up until WOTLK.
But I agree with the poster above me. Its a tad too early now. They should start a new (non SOM) classic when WOTLK concludes in about a year and a half.

Hahahahahahahaha. No. There are small adjustments, that would be great, but, a majority of Classic players agreeing on anything? Are you new here?
