I am returning to Era to enjoy leveling a new character, seasonal events, maybe some dungeons, etc. All of the EU servers are marked as “Low” population, but I was wondering if there is any conventional wisdom about which servers to roll on? Haven’t decided on PvE or PvP (I like both for different reasons), but will probably roll Alliance to start. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Since some realms are connected, the usual advice is to roll on any of the English PVE servers (they are all connected anyway) or on the Firemaw PVP cluster. Can’t remember which other servers are on that one, but you can just pick Firemaw.
Classic Era EU English servers are combined into 5 clusters. Here ranked from most to least populated:
1 - PvP servers cluster: Ashbringer, Bloodfang, Dragonfang, Earthshaker, Gandling, Golemagg, Mograine, Noggenfogger, Skullflame, and Firemaw - inhabited
2 - all 3 PvE servers - inhabited
3 - RP-PvE Hydraxian Waterlords - quite empty (but the HC community is playing here)
4 - PvP cluster: with Dreadmist, Flamelash, Judgement, Razorgore, Shazzrah, Stonespine, Ten Storms, and Gehennas - quite empty
5 - RP-PvP Zandalari Tribe - Dead.
So if you’re into PvP take cluster 1, if PvE’s your poison cluster 2 (yours truly plays there as well as on HW)
The Firemaw-PvP cluster is the most populated and the one hosting the biggest activity.
As of today, the Alliance has the guild with the fastest raid clearing times, a second guild which clears everything and a MC-to-Naxx Pug called Classic that allows for less time invested players to also participate in raiding.
There are also leveling dedicated guilds for lowbies.
For PvP all realms are connected so you will meet people from all clusters/servers - Bgs pop anywhere between 16 and 00, sometimes eralier / later.
The community is pretty friendly, so you should not have any problem getting into a guild or chatting with whomever.
Always fun to see people have a interest for Classic Era!
A Pyrewood Player here and also mainly at these times a Alliance player, can say we have quite a bounce of players around and 3-4 active raiding guilds some of them are more layd back and easy going progress like doing ZG / Onyxia and Molten Core and doing them merely just 2 days or less per weekend while some are more far above it and progressing trough AQ40 and Naxxramas and doing them during other days during the weeks.
Uncertain with finding lower level players for dungeons but there is plenty of high level players happy to lend a hand if needed.
low level pvp rbgs certainly not something that is active atm but high level is.
Hope you find a place to calm home and enjoy Classic Era!
I disagree on that. At least Ally side is somewhat active. Low pop, but 3+ active raiding guilds, where at least one is still progressing and one have all on farm.
There should be guilds for every need there, plus bg’s are crossrealm (shared with all other Era realms).
I guess that you’re like me a non-native speaker, so you wont take offence by a bit of lingustics, I hope.
Inhabit means to live somewhere - inhabitated means roughly populated.
Habitate is a ‘where’ somebody lives in. and while “habitated” is a word (uncommon one), its seemingly opposite number “inhabitated” is not an existing English word.
Edit: And I just want to say that I was totally unprepared for the level of activity. It is nothing compared to when Classic was “live” of course, but you can still find dungeon groups and even raids, and sell stuff on the AH. Huzzah!
